Best: Too many to mention but if I had to pick two:
New York
&
rural Majorca (hate Magaluf or any of the big resorts but if you head to the north of the island or anywhere near Deia and Valdemossa it is stunning).
Worst - Northern France (Picardy region) Boring Boring Boring0 -
Best: Skiathos and St Ives
Worst: Dominican Republic and Turkey"A" is for Opple if yowm spaking loike a yamyam!0 -
Am also very happy to learn that Krakow is not on anyone's 'worst list' as am going there in April. Phewww!
Went to Krakow 18mths ago and really enjoyed it. Also, like Prague and Budapest, the food there was excellent.
So, my best and worst:
Best: Las Vegas / Barcelona - both fantastic places, although very different
Worst: Venice - OK before people get on my case, I would clarify this as most disappointing - went for 4 nights and can't remember one memorable meal the whole time. Also, most places are just too expensive !0 -
Best: Achill Island (Rep of Ireland), Tromso for the Northern Lights (Norway), Dallas (Texas, USA), Sete (France), Seychelles
All fantastic destinations.
Worst: Costa del Sol - swamped every 2nd minute 24 hours a day by people selling fake hangbags, cd's toys. The policing of this is disgusting. You can't even lay on the beach without them hassling you, you can't have your meal without them hassling you, stay well away, also flittered with flies.
I'm planning to take a trip within the next month the vibes for Berlin look good as does Hong Kong. I had pencilled in Zurich last night as the destination. Has anyone been, it's looks a delightful place.0 -
I suspect that people are getting more from the "Worst" destinations. I know I have. Dominican Republic has dropped down and out of my list of places to visit.
Best: (In no particular order) Venice, Sicily, Budapest, Havana, New Zealand, Albania and The Azores.
Worst: Bialilystok and Lelystad. O.K. that's a little unfair, as neither place are selling themselves as places to visit.Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. - Proust0 -

Best Marshall Islands,Vegas,Kauai.
Worst Europe including UK0 -
good post OP!
Best: Mexico, St Lucia and Turkey
Worst: Tunisia (the hassle was unbelieveable!)£100 - £10,0000 -
It is of course possible to have the best and worst in one trip...
The best: Bom Bom Resort, a fantastic beach resort on the island of Principe off the coast of Gabon, Central Africa. Each bungalow was set amidst the palm trees opening onto the white sand beach, the layout based like the swirl of a conch shell. Champagne was on ice in the fridge, while the restaurant and bar were accessible by a walkway stretching across the shallow bay. We felt privileged to witness the wildlife seen only on this remote island and shared by so few.
The worst: the Makokou Hotel in the interior of Gabon, the singularly most unpleasant place we have ever stayed - complete with en suite cockroaches, crusty sheets which were barely dry, WC which we benignly thought was black ceramic but turned out not to have been cleaned ever, rationed toilet paper (we were accused of stealing it to use in the bush). We stayed there for a miserable 5 nights, and every night we cheered to think we were one night nearer to leaving."Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm" (Sir Winston Churchill)0 -
Best - Western Canada, 10/10 for Whistler, went there in the summertime, it was really well suited to our tastes. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
Worst - hard to think - probably Blackpool is my idea of holiday hell, but I'd never go there as an adult anyway. apologies to anyone who loves it.:p
Grotty caravan on Sun holiday, the roof was brown because that many smokers had stayed in it. MAde the most of it and had a great time, though.Thank God it was only a short break though.:pMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
