    Afternoon all.

    Congratulations Bargainbird.

((((Moggins)))) sorry you’re going through the mill.

    ((((Meanmarie)))) What an awful shock!

    ((((MSD and Tristan))))

((((HUGS)))) to anyone else who wants/needs one today

Finally managed to put together some dins last night – there was a Spag Bol recipe on the Tabasco sauce bottle, so I did that (tin of chopped tomatoes as basis), but we don’t have spaghetti (not a good idea when you have an OH who’s as messy an eater as the average 2 yr old) so we had it with pasta fusilli. Anyway, it seemed to go down OK, Mr LW’s plate was empty in next to no time.

Have to visit Mr M’s tonight when Mr LW gets in from w*rk – not looking forward to that, but I need to stock up on frozen meat substitutes. Hmmm….. maybe I can persuade him to take me to the pub afterwards.

I shall take it asy this afternoon though, as we have a busy day tomorrow. Got to go and get 2 new tyres put on the car, then pick Mr LW's tweed jacket up from the cleaners, go and get fruit'n'veg from the market, plus as much housew*rk as we can manage between us.

Mr LW has two days' Annual Leave next week - Monday we'll be doing "stuff" and Tuesday he's visiting the Fang Farrier to get his poorly tooth sorted out. I just hope they can put a new crown on it, as the alternative (an implant) is 'orribly expensive.

So I probably won't be online til Wednesday, after today.

My kids have to use imperial as my scales have big markings for pounds and ounces and tiny diddly ones for grams and kilos - even their eyesight strains to read it!

dd2 was astounded that you could cook using metric measurements  not entirely sure whether that's cos she cooks so much with me or whether she doesn't pay any attention whatsoever in school ;)

Well I've done some more ironing, and piles are ready for children to transport upstairs when they come in! Oh how they'll love me greeting them with a pile of clean laundry :p

  • Not sure I have anything OS to report so I hope people will forgive me.Tonights dinner will be the rest of the slow cooker stew.
To me, OS is more than cooking from scratch, cleaning with basics that do the job better than the pricey stuff etc. Perhaps I'm confusing OS with the fondly remembered Good Ole Days. I believe that OS is also the kind of love, caring and concern for others that seemed so much more prevelant when I was a child than it does now. In my eyes, you are very OS. Thanks for being you. Prayers for Tristan, his family and you.

    Gentle hugs,

    Peyton xx

There's a thought:think: I've never tried it Peyton as I find it disappears pretty quickly (there are 5 of us). I'd definitely give it a try. I'd reheat it in the microwave else you'll end up overcooking the saucey bit.

I expect you could halve quantities and make a little one;)
    :eek:Perish the thought!!! LOL

  • Thanks for all the replies and the lovely PM's that all make perfect sense.

I am seeing my mum tomorrow anyway, so I think I will just state that I booked a cheap room when they were on offer last month as I really wanted to see the family member but just couldnt physically get there for her birthday. My mum is a pain in the !!!!! but to be fair, she doesnt know how ill I really am as I havent told her all the ins and outs...we dont have a great relationship but I am trying to improve this. Mum will know that we are going specifically to see family member but I will tell family member that we were up that way anyway, as I dont want her feeling guilty for us travelling so far IYSWIM. I think even if she is in hospital next week, we should still go and visit. I am really not looking forward to the drive, but I know it is the right thing to do and would regret it otherwise. The other thing I am now concerned about is the weather. We are travelling up north from London and the temperatures are suppoed to be very cold next week.

WM and DW have both been on. House clean and tidy.

    Hope everyone is well.

Hi all - just coming back on to send (((hugs))) to Moggins and PenPin. You are both going through it, aren't you?

I've had a pretty horrid day because, yet again, one of DH's customers 'forgot' to pay an invoice and it has really thrown things out, because DH has wages to pay for his sub-contractors. We've been making angry calls, juggling money around and trying to keep everyone happy. I know it's not as much worry as others are having, so I'm trying to keep everything in perspective.

What would we do without this thread to sound off to? It's calming me down just typing this.

I haven't been keeping up with the thread today but I'll try to later.

    (((Hugs))) to all.

  • According to little bear, the water colour tablets from early learning centre (suitable for his age:rolleyes:) do not taste very nice.

I just hope that they wash as they are supposed to.

Also shampoo - I have a shampoo that is very bad for my hair. Should I just throw it out or suffer?
