Fab news- I like Spike;)
I'm off to the see the nurse practitioner about my eye (conjunctivitis) after I've done the school run. OH thinks I should get it looked at, I think it'll get better by itself.
Then I'm going into Worcester to visit the Asian supermarket. I want some miso paste, mirin and maybe one or two other things.
Baked beans, toast and bacon for breakfast
Lunchboxes -salami and hummus bagels, a few crisps, apples - I've just caught dd eating her crisps:rolleyes:
Supper -sausages and celeriac gratin, winter salad. OH out at a posh work dinner do (Ken Livingston is the guest speaker).
Things to do
Laundry
Ironing -bleurrrgh!
Plan weekend's meals
Moggins, sorry to hear your decision. Hope it works out for you.0 -
Good morning everybody...up early with a little time to get on here as Aussies left just before 8
Moggins...hugs
Bargainbird...congratulations....Spike...I like it!
Had a sad email yesterday from one of my best friends...his 18year old nephew committed suicide last week, no clue why, lots of friends, apparently well adjusted young man....I felt sick for the rest of the day.
Hugs to all in need or want...where are you Twink, haven't seen you around for a while, hope you are well.
Have a good day all, I will be stripping beds and washing, think that I have drying space on landing...not good weather for outside.

Morning all..........(((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one, especially pen pin and Moggins.
Congratulations BB on your lovely new arrival.....
A bit lighter this morning than yesterday, but boy it looks cold out there. I am off to see my friend in the wilds of the country this afternoon, but will be using main roads most of the way........hope the frost has cleared by lunch time.
Waiting for the heating people to come to our thermostat. We are on a district heating system, each apartment is controlled by a thermostat which is on the rad in the living room.......ours is very difficult to turn one way and loose if you turn it the other way, I tried to up the heating a bit and we fried so have to leave it on the one setting all the time and put an extra jumper on. I reported it in December 2007 and we are still waiting. Yesterday I went along to the office and threw my toys out the pram, result.........
OH has been dizzy free for 3 days again although he did complain of headache yesterday, took some pills and it went off, so ok there. Hope to have some news next week about an appointment.
HM fish and chips tonight, we finished off the last of the Christmas beef with salad last night, very nice too, what would we do without freezers??????
Second mug of coffee is calling see y'all later................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -

Not much else to tell just a little stressed here with OH worried about next week I could quite cheerfully murder his mother for the stress she is putting on him he is such a good dad and hubby always working for us to make things better and she has to behave like this oh well its only made us stronger and me more determined not to be a bad MIL
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Morning all, hope you are okay. It's a gloomy looking day here in Staffs!
I just dropped my son off at school, but DD is curled up on sofa in agony with her monthlies, poor thing, so she is not at college today. Unfortunately it means a day of trash tv. I hardly ever have the tv on in the day, but my DD will watch any old bumf. AARRGGHHH!!!
WM is on, I'm going to be pottering around today flicking dust from one place to another. I cleaned my kitchen floor with stardrops last night and it came up lovely and this morning DS spilt his cup of milk all over the place (he's 13, not a toddler, though he acts like one half the time!)...so i've already been going over that again.
No news yet on when i get the new-to-me car, some work has to be done on it first and it has to get through its MOT or i won't have it...it could be this weekend, but i don't know, it's all a bit vague really, the people who it's coming from are mega busy/stressed people, so it's just a case of waiting - though i would like it at weekend so i can get used to driving it.
Had some good news yesterday, i had a call from the NHS moving my Neurology appointment forward a month, so now i get an appointment next Tuesday....and it's at 6pm! Hopefully it will be better than the last time i saw the neurologist, which was a disaster that left me in tears.
Anyway, nuff about me, i'm going to make myself a cup of tea and come back and read all your wonderful posts.
Love n hugs to all

Morning all! :hello:
Bargainbird, Spike is perfect - both the name and it's owner! Congratulations and well done you xxx
Moggins :grouphug: I hope things get better. If you ever need to talk you know where we all are xxx
Meanmarie :grouphug: that is terrible. Really don't know what to say. I'm thinking of your friend xxx
Pen-Pin :grouphug: aren't families grand  Nobody should ever try to make you guilty for being ill. I've had that in spades from my family and unfortunately it took a few choice words and all of the fallout from that to make them understand even a little bit. And I really wouldn't recommend that route... I can sort of see where your mum is coming from, she is probably frustrated and anxious that her friend is so desperately ill - and that you are ill as well - and it's all to much to take and to articulate, so it's been easier to explode at you. After all, she can't do anything about the friend being ill, and she can't do anything about your illness either, but if there's someone to blame it's all that bit easier to cope with. Am I making any sense? I don't think I'm articulating what I mean very easily. What I would do is call Mum and tell her you're coming down to see the friend, and that you'd like to meet up, but only on the understanding that axes don't get ground when you do meet. At the end of the day, what is happening to your friend shows just how short and fragile our lives and relationships are, and certainly show that it's too short to sqaubble over these things. You never know, maybe she regrets what she said and is dying to make up... maybe she doesn't regret it but is happy to accept that sometimes people don't agree on everything. That's just my thoughts. I would call her. Whatever happens, I hope things work out
My get up and go has got up and gone this morning! I can't be bothered to do a thing! I think I'll have a cup of coffee and see if I can get some energy back. Dinner is sausage and bacon from my utlra-reductions earlier this week. With eggs, chips and beans. Dave's choice, not exactly healthy, but cheap and easy enough for a friday night treat! After watching Jamie Oliver last night I am more pleased than ever that I only buy happy meat. My Dad called me, he's never understood what I mean about farm welfare, I grew up in an agricultural area and he's always been a bit sarcastic. Last night he called and it was all a revelation to him! So he only wants to buy happy meat now and wanted to know why I hadn't told him all of this before.
Hope everyone has a good day xxx0 -

:hello: Good morning!
I was woken earlier than usual, by the meter man knocking at the door. He'll have to come back later though, as I can't move the stuff out of the cupboard under the stairs where the meters are. Hopefully he'll come back this evening rather than early tomorrow morning
Penny_Pincher - Sorry to hear of your dilemma. I suppose you might have to tell your Mum, because it would be awful to travel so far and then find the person you've come to see isn't there. A bit  at your Mum saying you're selfish though - perhaps she doesn't relise just how ill you are?
HockeyDuo - Sorry to hear of your loss (((HUGS)))
Bargainbird - Spike's gorgeous! Congrats again!
AussieLass - Hope you have a lovely time!
Kaatlady, CC Star, Anniestar - nice to "see" you again! Annie - Sorry to hear about poor Simon, I hope he's soon on the mend.
((((HUGS)))) MSD,Moggins, meanmarie, Smokybabe and all who need some.
VickyA - I hope your DMum and DMIL are getting on all right. Thinking of you.
Csarina - I'm glad to hear you kicked up a bit of a fuss about your heating! Thirteen months is quite unreasonable! Hope your OH stays well today:)
Catznine - Thank you for the hugs - much appreciated!
Halight - I hope you manage to speak to that lady today!
I'm feeling better today, though wondering why I asked DH to put all the meat we bought y'day in the freezer except the stewing steak when I might be going to DD's later in which case I won't be around when it would be time to start cooking a stew:rolleyes: I might get one of the bags of mince out and put the stewing steak in the freezer instead. Then we can have chili con carne instead, and have stew on Monday.
We're going to DH's sister's 50th birthday bash in Dover tomorrow and staying overnight. This is the "surprise" party which she told us about in December:D Her son and siblings have organised it. There's a "theme" - "Fifties Hollywood Glamour" - but as far as we're concerned she'll have to make do with me in my only long dress, DS in his suit and DH in a jacket and trousers that just about match
Which reminds me, can't remember if I told you but we recently received an invitation to the wedding of one of DD2's oldest friends. We decided not to go, although we're very fond of her, because not only would it involve an overnight stay which we really can't really afford, but they want everyone to wear either black or white  ! DH has a charcoal jacket and trousers (see above) but I haven't anything remotely suitable and certainly can't buy something atm even if black or white suited me, which they don't so I'd probably never wear it again.
I collected my new glasses y'day and I'm really pleased with them. The frames are oval rather than rectulangular, so the lenses are much thinner at the edges than my last pair. They're metal frames with a magnetic "sunclip", and the colour of the frames is called "dark rose".
DD2 just rang and I'll be going round to hers later. DGS wanted to talk to me so he said "Hello" and Goodbye" with a lot of giggling in between:D
Better go now and have some breakfast. Weetabix today, which we bought with a "30p off" coupon which was in the paper the other day
Have a good day, all.
ivyleaf xx0
