    Morning all!

BM going with D&DD dough for apple braid, rolls cooking in moski, rice cooked and ready to become egg fried tonight for dinner, 2 lots of washing done, one on airer and other in TD, WM back on with bedding, kitchen swished and swiped, sitting room junk binned (again!).

Still need to hoover, put clean bedding on - am I brave enough to open the airing cupboard to find some?! Need to mop the kitchen and utility and clear and clean the bathroom floors, tidy my room, where did all the stuff appear from whilst I was out last night! Also need to tackle Mount Ironing and put some of the stuff on the relevant kids' beds, I live in the hope that they will then transfer it to their clothes drawers!

Lovely night last night, pot luck supper for the village ladies. I took thriftlady's/peyton's choc fudge cake, everyone loved it, need to print off the recipe for a few neighbours now! Also joined the local book group whilst I was there, didn't realise we had one nearby, so I'm rather pleased about that, now just need to get hold of and more importantly read A Thousand Yellow Suns before they meet in Feb!

Best get a wiggle on and do these chores before i catch up (oooo I've gone all lopsided, sorry!) hugs and congrats where needed. I'll see you all later with my cuppa - hope someone's got some twinks to go with it, we're empty here! xx

  • BargainBird Congrats on the safe arrival of Spike. He is gorgeous! Hope you're both doing well and that you're getting some rest.

HockeyDuo I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Thoughts and prayers with you and yours.

PenPin I finally learned in my bio family that there's never any pleasing some, despite years of me trying to. My mother and sister come to mind here. I gave up trying to please and I'm more at peace about it now. My mother passed a number of years ago, and when my sister starts, I just tell her I'm not discussing it with her as long as she's being judgmental.

Oh geesh, this is what I get for trying to remember what all is going on instead of making notes. :o So many gentle hugs, good thoughts and prayers for everyone here. Please forgive me for leaving many out.

    (((((((((((((Gentle hugs)))))))))))))))

  • Morning Chums ,what a silvery-frosty morning it was here in North Kent. I think we will definitly be getting some of the white stuff soon.
Congratulations to Bargainbird on the birth of her little boy we were all worried about you.Well done Mum and babe:A
History class this afternoon, at least its nice and warm there .The Monday class I go its always freezing and we have to sit with our coats on .
Wasn't the Victorian Farm good last night, I can remember my Mum having a sewing machine like that for years. And sprinkling damp tea leaves on the carpet before using her Ewbank carpet sweeper to sweep up with:D Funny how things come back to you when you see them. My Dad always cleaned the windows with metholayted spirits and damp newspapers, it was his saturday afternoon job. At we always put the spare soot from the range on the roses, and oddly enough on the rhubarb and we had a huge rhubarb patch. My Mum also used to washing-up water to spray her roses with as she said it deterred greenfly. blew my GC budget a bit this week ,but the forecast is bad weather so I got extra stocks in just in case I couldn't get to the shops so hopefully I won't have so much to buy next week.
Well I'm off for my coffee so have a good week-end folks and stay wrapped up warm
<<hugs to the poorlies and sad ones >>
    Take care JackieO xx

  • Morning all! Another chilly grey one here so it looks like the washing will be drying inside again - ah well!

Bargainbird - congratulations on your baby bird! hope you are both well - Spike is a very cute name.

we're off to the big city this weekend for SIL 30th so i'm not sure it will be very OS or MSE as we're staying in a hotel and eating out both nights!! Just as well it is payday.

Sorry to hear about your troubles and big hugs to MSD, Moggins, and all others who need them.

Pennypincher - I think you will have to check with your mum that your relative is going to be there but  to her for making you feel bad. I'm sure your relative will understand and really appreciate you making the journey even though you are so poorly.

HockeyDuo - hope you have an amazing time with OH ;) .

Blessings to all for the weekend.

  • Good morning ((((((((Everyone)))))))))

Cold, gray and damp day here on the coast. Hanging wash outside is not going to happen for sure. I will take a load to laundry today and just hang on the airers here. After the shock of the price on the service wash earlier this week, there is no way I'm doing that again any time soon! Our tiny flat will have a maze to navigate with the airers up. Hey that's free entertainment! :D

Payday has finally arrived after 6 weeks! :j:j:jThere were times I thought it never would. ;) Budget is done for the month and it looks good so far. Nothing extra for the month yet it feels good to know bills will be paid for the month today and money for food and necessities are there. Finish off paying one small bill today and last council tax payment until April.:T

I missed seeing you all yesterday and just read the thread this morning.

I found a double roll of vinyl wallpaper still in original wrapper at the charity shop for £1 earlier this week so grabbed that up. Decided it was time to put it up in our tiny kitchen yesterday. Wallpaper stated it was pre-pasted, vinyl and scrubbable. Prepasted it was so nice and easy to prepare. If it's vinyl or scrubable, I'll eat my hat! However it is up and looks much better in there now. I strained something getting down off the worktop somehow and am walking a bit gingerly today. :p Gentle walking will keep it from getting worse, I hope.

Finalizing my grocery list this morning. I've decided I'll do two main shops this month rather than in one go. As the kitchen is tiny it's easier to put things away. Plus I only have the 4 drawers in my fridge freezer.

We're having meatloaf from the freezer, mash and some veg for our tea tonight. Afters will be bread and butter pudding as I pulled all the bread ends, stale bread I've frozen through the month out of the freezer to make room. Can you freeze bread and butter pudding? If so, is there anything special I need to do?

Also a question for Thriftlady, can you freeze the choc pudding fudge heaven on earth that I'm now drooling over cake? It's either freeze these desserts or I'm going to gain 10 stone!

I'm off to get the "must do" list done now. I hope everyone has a peaceful day. Thinking warm thoughts of you all.

With prayers and gentle hugs for all,

    Peyton xx

    Hi guys,

windy and drizzly here today, very cold too. The decorator started yesterday and has first coated the whole area and is sanding down the doors for the unercoat at the moment. I shall have to start hunting for a carpet next week.

I have the school nurse here at 11 o clock to have a prelim chat about DS1 as requested by the psychology team and I have had a meeting with DS2's teacher this morning who is concerned about his 'hyperactive' behaviour and his low attention span at playgroup. I can see where she is coming from as I have had some hairy days with him over the last few months but some of the behaviour he is exhibiting there just isn't happening here (spitting for one thing ) She want's the health visitor involved so I have rung and left a message asking them to contact me for an appointment. It's left me feeling a bit grotty today - bad mother feeling - in the meantime I will have a surf around tonight and see what I can start to do here to try and sort him out. I also need to phone the nursery as apparently they are having problems but this morning is the first I have heard of this. Why can't people communicate better? I always ask if there are any problems and am told no, everything is fine.

I have a home delivery coming this afternoon and am stuck here again waiting for the third attempt from Argos to deliver the hedge cutter and lego. After the school nurse has gone I am going to prep a fish pie for tea and throw together a lasagne for tomorrow. I also have a small pile of ironing to do and the curtains from the hall and landing to wash and iron. The house has had a sweep through this morning before we left for school and I also need to get my pennies book up to date.

Pen-pin, Silvercharming's post sums up what I would be inclined to do. Gentle hugs to you hun. xx

Bargainbird, congratulations to you Spike is a lovely name. xx

Gentle hugs to HockeyDuo and all else in need of one.

Bargainbird - congratulations!!! Isn't it wonderful to have a little one? (Despite everything I was relentlessly happy all the way through pregnancy and the night feeds - I think I really irritated the midwives. So if I keep saying how wonderful, and your not, ignore me, I'm not normal). How are the cuddles going? Have you been able to really look into his eyes yet? Is he eating okay?

Moggins - so sorry to hear that you are in a bad place. Hugs. Wish you all the luck that you can get, and you are in my prayers.

Aussie lass - have a wonderful time!

Meanmarie - so sorry to hear the news. His poor family. Hope you are feeling better today.

I am not posting what we are having for tea as every time I do that we end up having something else.

Little bear woke up at 2am, finally settled at 4am. He was cold, poor little bear, but I cannot convince him about blankets. Also the convector heater that I have been using in his bed did not work even when I switched it on. I suspect that the elderly thing is just too elderly. It must be about 10 years old, it is relatively inexpensive to run and warms the room up a treat. Or warmed the room up a treat. I am going to start sneaking into his room with fleeces from tonight, and see if they help. He is already in little fleece suits.

I need to do everything, so I am just going to start in the middle and see how far I get.

    Hugs to all
