bin it - you can buy decent half price wine in the supermarket. WIV use words like 'taste like chocolate' , 'wont give you a hangover' was a guinee pig for new (ex employee) hm all carp if you ask me!Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0 -
Do not be put off by the (post 1 message), I have re-registered under a different name for obvious reasons.
All this talk about WIV is going round and round. I too worked for them for many years, and it certainly is not a scam. No one is forced into buying wine, and the prices are pretty fair considering the poor old rep gets paid peanuts except his 18% commision on every bottle he or she sells, plus of course their 12p per mile to visit you......and of course their company cars ( if they sell over 150k of wine a year, all needs to be paid for.
WIV do own a very few vinyards predominately in the Nahe valley of germany, where the founding fathers still live. Owned by Khuno Pieroth and run by his son and his nephew. All the other wines from around the world are bought as and when needed. Are the wines worth it ? ? thats between the drinker and their budget, you can get similar quality for a lot less in the supermarkets but would never be allowed to try before you buy particularly at home, could try loads and still never find the right one for you.
I am not a bitter ex employee, nor am I a "wine drinker" merely a sales person that spent a fair few years flogging wine.
Hopefully this helps, and I have not done a "Ratner", for those that understand it.
By the way Romulus what office you working out of ?

i too got a mailing in the post by way of an old address (which is why i'm posting now, first time ever...). i contacted the lady on the phone number given above and she was nice, polite and helpful. she says that i will be taken of the mailing list so we will see...
i don't know anything about their wine, their prices, their sales techniques or their involvement in debt collection, but if they don't send me any more unsolicited mail then that's fine by me!
i do feel a little sympathy for the company though - as the owner of a small importer, we mail unsolicited catalogues to companies as we generate business that way. if someone returns one, then we take them off our list. if someone orders, then that's wonderful. i guess that if you don't want to buy their wines, don't buy them.0 -

About 4 years ago I searched the net for more information and came across a site that said that your phone numbers are passed on to a debt collection company also owned by the same people.
There is no details on the survey letter explaining what your information is used for or who it is passed on to.
If this is a genuine offer, why do they need to be so cloak and dagger about it all. If the product and service is so good, why not tell people about it from the beginning? It does not make any business sense not to......
It would be interesting to know if anyone who has returned the survey has had any strange calls from a debt recovery company or similar.
I'm new in this forum. I registered here because I'm applying for job in this company. It does not sound professional.
By reading forum posts - I'm not exited of the companies sales concept. At the moment I really need some job. So I'm getting ready for anything.0 -

You're normal right now, sadly if you get the job you'll become a moron who cannot have a conversation with someone without trying to sell them wine, you'll end up wasting time creating throw away accounts on various forums to direct your sales pitch (in a different font and size from the forum standard for some strange reason) at anyone who dares to say they didn't take up the offer, and worse still, you'll actually end up believing the drivel you spout and that your wine isn't simply jsut another average wine at twice the cost. Still go for the job though but i'd keep the applications going for other steadier places.Bought, not Brought0 -
