Do you think you should apologise to anyone on this thread? Everyone's basically been saying what you say in your blog about pressurising people into buying wine they neither want or need and you've acted like a complete !!! towards them.Bought, not Brought0 -

Thanks for the info here. I got their mailing today. Knew of course that if I accepted I'd receive a sales call. But worth it for 6 bottles perhaps? Then - reading the postings and the letter carefully - it's not 6 bottles, just 6 samples. So into the bin with it. Thanks again those who have provided details.0

I also was sent one of these letters this week and thought, what the hell. But then I saw this on a GOOGLE search.

Just got this junk myself. Sent back their pre-paid envelope saying 'no thank you'. I thought that was only polite

Hi,
I do like the money saving expert forum.
I got a letter from WIV today, suspected it was a scam of some sort, but thought I had better check. I am quite gullible, and after many years of being ripped off in one way or another am now much more careful.
I never trust any company who don't tell you the full story.
The letter mentions nowhere that they wish to take up any of my time (something I have very little of spare) but only a "sampling of 6 specially selected wines". I would be quite happy to get a phone call or two, after receiving a package of free wine and a clock. and then comparing their prices with whatever else is available. I do not have an hour to spare to talk to sales reps in my home. (the last time I put up with this nightmare was when I spent a sunday afternoon with a double glazing rep, I did actually want replacement windows and had made the initial enquiry because of this. But this guy gave me so much dodgy schpiel that I ended up without the product I had wanted to buy.
I suspect the WIV thing would be a replay of that scenario.
Hence, I am going to send their letter back in the reply paid envelope with "no thank you" written across it.0 -

 and now they're trying to sell wine to a teetotaller, with a weather station as a carrot. I don't need a weather station to know which way the wind blows.0

I used to work for WIV.
They were good employees. The pay was good if you sold well.
After three years with WIV I developed my career enough to buy my first home.
I still buy wine I like for half the price, but I also still buy from WIV. It's damn good wine!
Most of you are second-guessing the company. So at least take it from someone who knows the company and drinks the wine.
Cheers.0
