yea mate but don't get confused with the companies. Equifax & Experian operate to strict guidelines and they generally (well 60% of the time) do follow the processes and deal with things, albeit slowly.
However the other companies I mentioned are not directly CRA's, even though they classify as one purely for the data retention element, thus you only pay them 2 pounds for a SAR unlike Hunters/CIFAS who charge 10 pounds.
Now, this is where it gets confusing. Hunters and the like are legally allowed to have a list showing patterns and trends and they share this with the other companies, for example there is one that shares data about missing parcels that get posted to your door! Do it too much and the risk will be high thus meaning you do not get offered a catalogue account.
Now the confusing bit is that your neighbours (say you live in a rough estate for arguements sake) could be conning the catalogue companies but because it weighs a risk on the street as a whole, using postcodes, it could affect your application for a catalogue. So even though no 'blacklist' officially exists, they do! Just not legally nor are they publicised thus you SAR the little beggars to see what they have about you!
Do you follow me?
In the case of credit cards, the same applies - assume you applied to HSBC saying you worked for Joe Blogs but you then applied to Barclays saying you worked for Joey Bloggs (typo or whatever) then Hunters would black mark that as being possible fraud. Just like that, you'd never know.
BUT it is not as easy to get stuff taken off as it would be with the CRA's - however as Hunter is not a Ltd Co, you can take the owner to court for Libel direct which helps (means they have to put their money where their mouth is)
Hope this helps to explain.... update me when you get your cifas back but dont just SAR Cifas - you'd best do them all at the same time otherwise info can get passed from Hunter to Experian and then Experian may force it back to Hunter next month meaning you're back to square one.2010 - year of the troll

It is mad just how much data people hold on us, it actually scares me when I think about it. Fortunatly I do not live on a rough estate and assume the people around here would not knock a catalouge but you can never be sure.
I will SAR all of the companies that you recommended in your previous posts.

Mate, sorry should have explained better. The catalogue was one example of 100's, such as insurance claims, theft, criminal records, council tax evasion, benefit fraud, housing benefit fraud the list goes on and on!
These data companies know the last time you had a dump for crying out loud (jeremy clarkson eat your heart out mate).....
Trust me, SAR the lot of them and wait til you get everything back and sit down, write a weekend off and start reading in order of priority (1 being top priority):1) CIFAS (£10 SAR - 40 days to reply)2) N Hunter (£10 SAR - 40 days to reply)3) Experian (£2 SAR - 7 working days to reply)4) Equifax (£2 SAR - 7 working days to reply)5) Synectics (£2 SAR - 7 working days to reply)6) Experian DA (£2 SAR - 7 working days to reply)7) Call Credit (£2 SAR - 7 working days to reply)Cifas is No1 because they filter info to each and every other name on that list. Call Credit is bottom cos Monument are the only sole users of this company along with insurance companies. i.e. if you make a claim, call credit record it along with Synectics..... did you know that? Make too many claims and guess what, no insurer will touch you!2010 - year of the troll

we should create a new thread called never innocent haha being this is primarily us talking (but hopefully it'll help others as well, and it is sub-prime related I guess?)

Ha! Deffo. It seems more like instant messenger :j
This is all sub prime related anyway as the only reason I have had to go sub prime is because of this information. I find it hard to believe that when Ex & Eq were dealing with the fraud they never advised me to SAR anyone....Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500

It gets worse, I could make you all cringe with some stories but won't - i'll do it when I post what they have about me cos I may shoot myself in the foot!
Bottom line, I 'heard' a rumour that for a backhander, N Hunter will delete your records..... also have a contact name there to text, you then pay cash into PayPal and presto - your record has gone.
These companies are no better than a loan shark in that they dictate who lends to you and how much. Obviously not directly but with the data they share. All 7 companies share info in rounds so month by month they collaborate and update each others systems with CIFAS hidden files being the only exception as the lender requests they remain hidden (why> god only knows)....
Want a better example?2010 - year of the troll

It is very sinster they way they operate. Thanks guys for the posts. I would have to say there are data protection act issues!
Does this apply to anyone or only those previously had CIFAS markers?0 -

They won't do that because they are scared you'll also SAR them! remember if a member of staff that you've had a go at on the phone thinks you're arrogant, and types it onto notes, then that member of staff is directly liable for slander! SAR is a dangerous game due to the sensitivity of info contained - you'll soon see exactly (word for word) what each and every lender has ever said about you when you get the reports back. UK26's from CAG was 700+ pages long, that was just the Experian file/records!
Did you know that once you SAR a CRA they must also send your most recent credit report with it.2010 - year of the troll

I get what you mean and shocked by it. Keep that number to one side as you may need it if things get tricky!!! I don;t understand why they would want to make them hidden either.......Bank Accounts - Barlcays Premier[/B] - £1000 o/d, HSBC - £200 o/d- First Direct - £500
