It'll cost you a tenner each to request a SAR from N Hunter and CIFAS, unfortunately there is no statutory clause that reduces the fee to £2 for these companies - a real pi$$ take if you ask me!

I'd be very interested to see what kind and quantity of data they hold, please let us know when you get it through.

    Regards

I will post when I recieve it but could be up to 40 days I believe

    Hi Underground,

I've SAR'd them all - the lot of them! So i'll tell you all exactly who holds what but it could be a slow process typing it all up!

In a nutshell, you pay 2 pound to all of them except: Hunter & CIFAS who demand 10 pounds. Also, the others have to return your SAR within 7 working days, Hunters & CIFAS are allowed 40. You'll find all this in the following link: #116 taken from here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1482065&page=6

However, remember to change the wording in your SAR for Hunters & CIFAS because they are different.

I'll post a new thread Underground, when I get details if that's ok with you? That way we can have a clear area for specific details regarding 'what onfo they really hold about us' and i'd bullet point each area and clarify exactly what info is likely to be there and which of the companies say what exactly.

I'm getting excited cos I know mine has a lot of rubbish on it!

Remember to read here for additional companies to SAR: Don't just do CIFAS - its the 'hidden' ones you want like Hunters, Experian DA & Synectics.

It's funny you should ask that! It is easy to get a cifas removed, that is for sure. I've just been doing my homework and will post how to remove data from Hunters etc later when i've got the facts right.

It can be done and it is easy, if you're right. At the end of the day each time the lender or CRA including Hunters/Experian DA/Synectics/CIFAS report information about you they have to ensure that it is factual, up-to-date and accurate. If it is misleading, untrue or causes you pain, suffering or financial loss then you can claim via the small claim courts.

Failing that, if they still don't act then you report it to the ICO who force them to remove the incorrect info.

However, if the data is true well that's a different story but it can still be wiped. Basically, you can instruct Hunters etc to cease processing your data electronically with immediate effect and they have to abide unless they suspect fraud etc.

Its long and complex so will wait and see what they write before going into it too much as there are too many scenarios that could affect the letter/outcome/action to take etc!

Don't worry though, just PM me if you get stuck and i'll email you the info you'd need/want. :D

Cool, to tell you the truth getting the incorrect data that EX & EQ held about me removed wasn't too much of a pain. It is just annoying because it is not my fault any of this data is there in the first place....
