Excellent value £49 for HD box, fitted this morning.
Happy Happy
:j0 -
I have a half price package for 6 months - so £27 ish for the sky world package. This runs out in June. If i upgrade to HD would that mean that the half price offer would be taken away? When i was looking to do it online it looked that way.0

Beware!!!
I have had the misfortune to subscribe to Sky HD since last October and have had nothing but trouble, third box to date and I dont even watch a great deal of tv! First box needed replaced within a week. The deal is tempting but ask yourself are you willing to put up with reliability problems, time and hassle over the phone getting it all sorted out, losing your recorded programmes several times over and still being asked for payment for a service which doesnt quite seem to be all there yet? Is it REALLY worth it? I dont think so. Take my advice from my own experience and avoid it with a very large stick that smells of something. If you dont you can sit back and relax in the knowledge that you are paying for technology that is unreliable and not proven yet and Sky have you captive for a year, that is if you are lucky or unlucky enough to experience your problems in the first month when you can still get yourself out of it. 90000 sky boxes affected! And thats just one manufacturer of HD boxes. 1 in 10 HD boxes. I would stay well clear of this offer as they are packing, racking and stacking new signups like there is no tomorrow, only thing on their minds is money for them and their contractors and not your customer satisfaction. Problem is they are moving too fast and do not have the reliability to match their fantastic claims.
Take it if you like a gamble, then again you might as well go to the casino, your money will end up going the same way.0 -
I have cancelled the subscription in my name and wife has gone via quidco to be the new subscriber. Am a major sceptic so not sure this will work but will update post either way.......0

Can anyone advise how to do the quidco + M&S voucher thing, please?
I'd like to know how to do this too, please.
My daughter has just moved out of our house to a new flat. Would she be considered as being a 'member of our household' if I recommend her - and so would I then be disqualified from receiving the £50 M&S vouchers?
No doubt we could get over this by getting one of the neighbours to recommend her instead of us doing it. But what do you think Sky mean by the term 'someone in the same household'?
I guess my daughter then needs to register with Quidco and then go through it to sign on with Sky. But if she goes through this route, how can she negotiate the best deal? Surely, by doing it like that, she won't get to speak to anyone at Sky for a haggle?
By the way, her TV will only do Sky+ and not SkyHD. It's a second hand Sony Plasma KE-32TS2E she picked up for £300 and apparently isn't 'HD ready'. The spec' for it is: Resolution: 1024 x 852. 3 x SCART (2 RGB). 1 x component. It won't be too much of a hardship though, as the picture is absolutely fantastic anyhow.
All comments welcome and I'll promise to give a 'Thanks' for making one.0 -
Im going to ring up tomorrow and try and get them to at least cancel off the installation charge, as im currently on my 3rd Sky box.0

sky are a bunch of crooks, my HDdeal was £280 + installation then no £10 pm,ever, you may have seen this offer about 6 m ago, expensive and after ages arguing about the price and that i dont need installation i just gave up and ordered it, guess what, Sky now will not give me HD unless i pay £10pm, Crooks, Have just given up will there lies and poor customer service,
i have now resigned myself to watching bbc and ch4 HD.0 -
getting my sky+HD installed tomorrow morning, i only ordered it 5 days ago through sky salesman at my local shopping centre, happy days, my wife cancelled her sky and i signed up as a new customer (the sky bloke told me to do this), i also took out multiroom but im gonna ask the sky bloke to put my old sky+ box into our bedroom and hope he is happy to run another twin feed from the dish into our bedroom as we already got a twin feed for sky downstairs ready for the HD box, as im classed as a new customer he should do what i say and ask "how high", im also gonna ask if he can supply me with a "pace" branded HD box and makesure it aint a refurb0

Having my HD box installed Monday morning.0 -
Glad to say I got out of my sky HD contract 8 MONTHS EARLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Today!! Result!!!
£180 viewing credit due to 2 hd breakdowns in 4.5 months. 5 breakdowns in 2.5 years. Endless hassle on the phone with computer says nos, incorrect administration of account etc. etc. Frustration, disappointment
Countless hours on the phone to people who dont care but still take your money until you moan their ears off enough for them to give in. It can be done. Moan the a££ off them!
End of the day a customer has walked, frustrated at a lack of customer service, support and reliability of products. 5 boxes. THATS 5!!!!
Ask yourself this would you buy a vcr, tv, dvd make 5 times after each breakdown???? A car? NO! So why the heck should you be paying up to £80 a month for this rubbish???? In this current climate a company can fold with that combination but not Sky! Sky are very, very slick at advertising and coming across as an innovator of great technology. They tell you one side of the story over and over and over again in each advert, ever noticed??? They would like to be a big shot but its all smoke and mirrors. Sky will rise or fall on HD, this is their BIG gamble. My view is they will get a massive influx of newbies sucked in initially to the offer via the big current advertising push, they will be found even more wanting in their customer service, reliability issues and they will p off a hell of a lot of people when they find out the deal is a worm on a line to get you in to all their services with an unsatisfactory customer support structure. SkyTalk, the phone line will become attractive to you as you will find your phone bills to the Sky call centre will be challenging your monthly tv subscription .Then again you can always subscribe to Sky broadband to write your complaint emails via customer feedback and take out SkyProtect to cover your box when it goes tts up after its 12 month warranty ( scam ) They are desperate. They couldnt sell their box at £199, £99, £75, now its £49 with a Sky HD package free to catch the mainstream. They cannot cope just now so ask yourself how do you feel waiting on the end of a phone line ( sometimes to India ) paying them money ( unless your on skytalk- clever ploy) on their phone lines to sort out a fault on your viewing /mistake on your bill thats NO fault of your own?? It will give you a real warm glow I promise you. You owe yourself to miss this "great deal" as it will end up costing you more than you can even imagine. Stick with reliable brands and that aint a Sky box. If you are a Which Subscriber check out Sky HD Reviews. 2ND Bottom in Reliability out of 15 set top boxes, better take up your Sky Protect cover. Its going to cost you more than you think. If you do take the deal the very, very best of luck to you. You WILL need it.0
