Hi All,
Just a quick post before I hit the sack. Having read the days thread, sorry to hear of Nicki's news, and hooe everyone else is okay. I've been baking all evening, and just finished making a boiled fruit cake, gingerbread men and flapjacks for DH and DS to scoff tomorrow. Also cooked duck for the first time today, and made a HM plum sauce to go with it. Got MY new book from readit, swapit website today, The Amber Spyglass, so now have some new stuff to read.
Hope everyone has a good Sunday tomorrow...
Bye for now, POwieA woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0 -
morning everyone, - still yp and no intention of going to bed soon. will probably start watching the rest of season 6 west wing soon on dvd.
found out yesterday that car is much worse than we thought - it's basically caput. going to sell it in bits on ebay lol!!!!!!!!!!
we are prob going to buy a cheap car to tide us over as the repairs on existing car will be too dear. contemplated doing without but we need one to pick up dss's and to go to car boot sale. hopefully we will make enough at car boot sales to make car pay for itself.
we have been borrowing fil's car for essential journey's but could tell he wasn't happy. we said to each other this would be the last time we borrowed it and we would do online shopping etc. it all came to a head tonight as he saw us emptying the car and took exception to what we had bought. he is the epitomy of the phrase 'grumpy old man'. he honestly has a jekall and hyde personality.
so rather fed up and we both decided to get merry lol
have a lovely sunday:love: married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090 -

Hello everyone,
I've been on a batch cooking frenzy and am now just going to bed for a few hours. I had a funny day yesterday and slept in the afternoon - hence feeling awake enough to cook 8 portions of chilli and 4 portions of chicken in tomato and basil sauce at midnight (thanks receipe index!)
Must go to bed now or tomorrow will be a total washout. Hoping to get some cleaning and tidying done and also make a quiche, some choc chip muffins and a fish pie. Was going to make soup too but left my soup receipe book at work (a colleague asked me where I got all my yummy soup receipes from).
Why is the weekend so short? I always have great plans for it - wash the car, wash the windows, do the general household cleaning, batch cooking, phone people, put stuff on eBay and general relaxing but if I get one or two of the above done usually - I'm lucky!
Have a lovely O/S Sunday

Hi Everyone
The time differance between Perth and the UK is doing my head in, not sure if you are all in bed or what??
After receiving inspiration from a thread a few days ago have made Tuna Bake from scratch (cheese and macaroni with a lge tin of tuna). Kids were most impressed, even the one that I thought didn't like Tuna Bake!
Have spent a bit of time in the garden this morning, well over due as I have been busy with DIY projects. Have finished the kids rooms so now having a break from DIY for a while, I'm totally sick of climbing up and down the laddder.
Hope you all have a good day.
Thank you to MSE contributers who are a great help to keep me motivated to take care with my spending.0 -

Morning everyone :hello:
Goodness, there are an awful lot of people up and about in the early hours today! Busy people too. Not sure that I'd be too good at batch cooking at midnight Scottishspendaholic!
Yesterday was a busy day - with shopping, cleaning the kitchen, utility, bathroom and front room, baking oat biscuits and muffins and getting the ironing basket down. OH did the main cleaning and I did the baking and ironing. We bought some of those microfibre cloths everyone has been recommending and they are very good - particularly for the tiles and worktops.
Today I'm cooking a roast pork dinner for 5 and then we are taking a trip to Primark. DDs are looking at clothes and I want to see what the homeware department is like.
Have a lovely OS dayEnjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Hi everyone :hello:
PP I hope that your DD is feeling slightly better today.
Well, OH has gone off to work.He doesn't normally work weekends, but he's "on call" (for IT users within the company) and they're switching the power off so he's going to be there for when they switch it back on again to make sure that the servers are still working!
I have weighed myself and I've lost 1lb! :j Ok, not loads, but at least I've lost it!
I'm pshyching myself up to hit Tesco at 10am when it opens. I've got my list all ready to face all those people. We'll have to get back into a habit of going on a week night, but the last thing that I want to do when I have finished work is go shopping. Hmmmm.
breakfast: branflakes
lunch: not sure yet. Probably just a sarnie.
supper: cod with parsley sauce, new pots and veggies
I've got to get some butter from Tesco so that I can make my banana loaf. Mmmmm.
Have a good day.

Morning everyone. I thought at the end of a week off work, I would have all jobs done and be enjoying a lie in today. I just don't know where the week has gone. I took a strange notion midweek to buy and wrap all my birthday Christmas pressies for the year (excluding dd's). However it seems to have consumed the whole week -and I still haven't finished!
Up and reading some new posts. Then need to wash the car and hoover whole house before church. Going to make some soup, main meals and cakes for the week this afternoon.0 -
