    morning everyone!

We've got snow here, too! It looked quite "chocolate box-y" this morning, but is now too soggy & has mostly all melted. It is still snowing, but not settling at all. I hope it doesn't get worse, cos I want to go visit DD & family tomorrow if at all possible, down in Portsmouth.

Powie69 & PP: hope hospital okay for you both today: PP - hospital & dentist in one day???? doesn't bear thinking about!

TM: I spent last Friday morning teaching 2 adults & 2 children how to crochet, at our home ed. meeting.
By the way, I am not saying that I am setting up classes... just that I did it once!

Not sure what we will have for dinner yet. I could do with getting a bout of "organised-itis", cos sometimes I know for the month ahead what's for dinner, other times we get to 4.30pm and I go look to see what's there - we're in one of those phases at the moment.

Have a good day, all of you!
  • It started snowing just as I got off the tube at Wembley. I'm glad I don't have to stay late at work today as it appears to be sticking.
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!

    Morning All

Didnt make it on yesterday. I'm not good at the moment, I started ebaying acouple of weeks ago and it was all going alright, but now I'm having problems with a purchaser. I'm also feeling really unwell at the moment I've no energy and feel lightheaded all the time.
Anyway I need to get to the supermarket this morning and put the slow cooker on to make some Scouse to freeze in portions for DD. The WM on and I'm not doing much else apart from that. I think I'll get a chicken for tea as I can just bung it in the oven and make some mash and veg to go with it.

    Breakie: Tea and toast
    Lunch: Left over spag bol
    Tea: Roast Chicken

    Have a good day everyone

havent posted for a few days due to having a few bad days on the depression front, but I'm feeling just ok today.
Tootles- have you tried drinking cranberry juice, one glass a day really does help to keep the attacks to a minimum, My sister swears by it.
    PPgood luck at the hospital.
MATH- your inbox is full was hoping you might be able to pm me the paid to clicks you do thanks. AND a big congrats to mrs MATH
I am so jealoue at everyone getting snow-it would cheer me up loads.
DD6yo is off school she had a temperature all last night, but typically now seems fine
Well ahter the last few low days the flat is a tip and I really need to have a good crack at it today.
Was supposed to be going out tonight, but am shatterd so will give it a miss ans try and go next week instead.
need to go and get the s/c on as I have a load of veg that needs using, so will make a nice veggie stew for tonight. I have gone veggie, to the point I will not eat meat if I don't know that it was raised well and seeing as I can only very rarely afford it, will be veggie 90% of the time.
    need to
    wash up

    Hi all!
As Penny-Pincher said, it's snowing here. Our younger cat (15yo) is disgusted with me - he doesn't see why I should mind sitting here near the back door with it open  so he can watch the snow without having to go out in it! :p He'll be lucky!

P-P - poor you, hosp x2 + dentist = a hectic day! It had to be snowing as well didn't it! Make sure you have a restful day tomorrow to make up for it a bit (I know, I know, resting is sooooo boring.......!)

Joannasmum (((((hugs)))) hope you feel better soon. Sounds as if you may have picked up one of the many viruses that's doing the rounds!

Powie69 Hope all goes well and that you'll recover fast!

Welcome to Frugalaussie and any other newbies (sorry, haven't read all of yesterday's thread yet)

Tootles Oh dear, poor you! Cystitis is so horrible. I used to get it a lot. Always felt a bit better as soon as I had the antibiotics in my hand though - must have been psychological because I knew i would be better soon! Cranberry juice is meant to be good for helping clear it up. Hopefully you will be starting to feel better by the time you set off so it shouldn't spoil your weekend.

HOLstar My DD's friend's brother has recently had an interview for a job at your SU. He did his degree and MA at Aber and can't find a suitable job down here (London area), and loves Aberystwyth, so is really hoping - the job would really suit him but he doesn't speak Welsh apart from what he picked up while studying there, so I don't know if that would mean they can't employ him. Anyway if you notice a large young man called Jonathan there in the fairly near future, it will mean he got the job! (He's built like a barn and was recruited into the American Football team within hours of arriving at Uni!)

((((((hugs)))))) to all who are ill or unhappy today.

Hope you all have a good day

very quick post as have been slobbing around on Mse since getting up and have lots to do today. Need to start by putting away all the bargains I got from Claires, Boots and Primark yesterday. I am being so efficient with pressie shopping this year that it is probably sad. I have not only bought some of next year's Christmas pressie, but have wrapped them as well.

    Have a good day everyone.

Morning everyone, PP and Powie I hope it goes well at the hospital today, and hugs to all who are under the weather.

I went to bed last night feeling quite motivated about tidying up the house and sorting it out but woke up this morning and said motivation had gone (theres a surprise...did it last more than 30 minutes probably not). (ooww new smilies). Also felt a little rough tonsils are hurting and I've got a sticky eye....lovely.

Played with munch this morning for about an hour before we ventured down stairs which was nice and I read my bible, started to think about the house and am feeling a little motivated again...going to take things one step at a time and try not to let it daunt me...so thought I'd come on here to be motivated a bit more before I start for the day. Nothing OS to report yet.

Joannasmum - Sorry to hear you're having problems with a buyer, I've just started selling everyone has paid up and parcels posted apart from one person who hasn't contacted me or anything. Not very impressed giving her until tonight then will send a polite reminder and another invoice lets hope it doesn't turn nasty...really can't be doing with that right now.

Plan for today is dinning room and baking with munch (ginger bread men and flapjack) My little sister is coming round for tea and we are going to go through her budget as she needs to raise about another £3.5k by end of April to pay for a breast reduction operation, I'm looking forward to helping her and hopefully budgets and stuff will help her after op as she is buying a house with a friend.

Found out last night that the tickets for DH trip in July to Uganda to help with a training schools i.t stuff is going to cost £724.80 and needs to be paid asap. You've seen my savings figure £12.05 and thats meant to be for our family holiday in 2008...thats all our savings. Those who do...please pray that the money comes in and we are able pay for it...thanks ;)

I hope everyone has a great and motivated day. :A

Quick post today while I catch up on a few bits online. Had a really lazy day yesterday - DD spent the entire day watching Pixar films (Monsters Inc, A Bugs Life, Toy Story & Toy Story 2) on DVD and then she put The Incredibles (video) on :rotfl: I meanwhile did 1 batch of dishes, a quick potter around the internet, stripped our bed and then spent the rest of the day either reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (I only started re-reading the series about 2 weeks back :o ) or snoozing in the chair :o:o

Today I've been catching up on things on the 'net, I've got 2 phonecalls to make in a minute, 1 more batch of dishes to do (OH did a batch this morning :T ) and then DD and I are supposed to be baking :wall: I'm going to have a really good juggle session in the freezer first though, I bought 6 tubs of ice-cream on Monday from Asda so there is a little bit of a lack of space :wall: It has helped my sore throat tremendously though :shhh:

Right, off to make those phone calls

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Morning all :hello:

Welcome to frugal aussie and good luck powie69 with the op.

It really is horrible weather here in London - Penny-Pincher was being kind to it by calling it snow, but from where I was most exposed to it (beneath my umbrella, on a station platform a couple of streets away from PP's house) it looked and felt rather more like nasty fine drizzly sleet with a chill that goes right through you...

Do wrap up warm and cosy PP when you go to the hospital later!

I was super-efficient last night after getting home from dinner with my father! I registered wih all the paid2click sites that MATH sent me, and already have about £15 on account from signup bonuses and one-off clicks! Course it's spread across lots of sites so I won't see any of it until I've been clicking away for months, but it's a start.

Then I set up an ebay account (that's right, would you believe it, I've never done anything other than browse it before!) complete with seller account and PayPal. So with a bit of motivation, I should start to see some inroads into my clutter mountain and some extra pennies in the savings...

SnowyOwl - my dad says he's always known there were secrets in his family and he suspects there are many more. My late grannie and her two sisters (the eldest of whom adopted my grannie's child) were the sort of family that never discussed anything. Apparently my dad's half-brother/adopted cousin has known he was adopted since he was little, and always assumed my dad and his younger brother also knew - so it came out in a passing comment a few days ago! They'd never even noticed my grannie's sister's children being so close in age that it's impossible for them to be biological brother and sister. Twenty years ago my dad researched his father's side of the family (like yours, a surname so unusual that it's easy to look up) but not his mother's side, which was the Northern Irish branch of the family and so was deemed too tricky because of the destruction of the Irish records office. So there could be all sorts of other things he doesn't know.

Anyway, back to mundane matters. My working day will be spent sorting out and filing, and thanks to all the bargain chicken I picked up last night at Sainsbury's I'll do a chicken pasta bake for my dinner. Should get four or five extra portions for the freezer too, out of four good-sized chicken breasts and half a 1kg bag of fusilli. Need to pop into Lidl on way home for fusilli, mozzarella, red pepper and spring onions.
