Boo! The snow is all gone now. I was hoping for a good couple of feet so I don't have to go all the way to Loughborough tomorrow.
Just checked my bank account & my expenses are finally in - about flippin' time too! Plus it's payday on Tuesday - doncha just love February for being so short?

MATH - TM is right I'm afraid, it's "the kidz & me". We can talk proper up 'ere in Lancashire yer know. (The grammatical explanation is that your sentence should make sense with or without "the kidz" in it - ie you wouldn't say "It's just I for dinner", you'd say "It's just me for dinner", so thus "It's just the kidz & me for dinner". Here endeth the lesson)

DH requested spaghetti Carbonara for tea, plus the longed-for potato skins from yesterday. I baked the spuds last night while my pizza was in the oven.

Off for a :coffee: to warm up & try to resist flicking the heating on.

    See ya

I'll bow to your superior knowledge - you're clearly an experienced talker;) :D

lol - cheeky monkey !! :rotfl:

    However, read on MacDuff:

The commonest mistake in grammar concerns sentences which contain the words “my wife and I” or “my friend and I”. It is often incorrect to use “I” in such phrases. One way of checking is to leave out the other person in the phrase. So if the sentence is “they gave my wife and I a present”, leave out “my wife” and you are left with “they gave I a present”, and you wouldn’t say that, so in that context “I” is wrong, and the sentence should read “they gave my wife and me a present”. On the other hand, if you leave out “my wife” in a sentence such as “my wife and I went to the meeting” you are left with “I went to the meeting”, which sounds all right and is correct. Some writers try to get themselves out of the difficulty by the use of “myself”, which usually sounds clumsy.

This is how I always do it. Mind you, I would have started the paragraph "The most common mistake..." I shall have to ask Mr TM on his return from the garage.

Talking of aforementioned trip to garage - I have a decent double tyre pump in the garage and an accurate tyre pressure metre. Why then does he have to go and spend 20p at the garage to check his tyre pressures? I know he's going for fuel etc, but as Mr T says 'every little helps' :(

edit - Lucie beat me to it :)
  • Just had a phone call from my mum her and my dad will not be able to make it tonight because of the weather.

I rang DH and we both agreed that DD is going to be disapointed so he has suggested that we go to the chinise resturant rather than getting take away.

DD is going to love it she can dress up and put on make up. She can even wear the new neckless that her auntie brought her.

What a thoughtful DH they have there moments :j

Sitting here in P.Js as have been resting my leg. Spent three hours in casualty yesterday and three x rays later found out it was not broken - which is a relief!.

No idea what to make for tea and just about to get in shower and then dressed ready to go to Slimming World.

    Really pleased for Mrs Math

Hug for any one feeling down.

Yeah, you always put the other people before yourself (i.e. the kidz and..., rather than ...and the kids) but you know whether it's "I" or "me" by what you'd say if the kidz weren't in the sentence at all. i.e. you wouldn't say "I'm making dinner for I" cos "I" can't be the object of the verb. So "The kids and I are making dinner" is better usage than "The kids and me are making dinner" but "Grandma's coming over to visit the kids and me" is better than "Grandma's coming over to visit the kids and I".

In practice you can say whatever you want cos language is there to be used, so if it sounds ok to you and it's comprehensible to everyone else, who cares? ;):D

And I should know coz I have an English Lang degree and I got a 2:1, so there :D:D

Math the stir fry sounds yummy, chips and cheese rolls sounds like something my DH would come up with lol.

FF awww bless her, I hope you all have a lovely time tonight. :)

elona, glad its not too bad I bet it still hurts though. :(

Well I've managed to do some baking with munch so I'm sure you can all imagine the state of the kitchen now. Made 3 dozen ginger bread shape biscuits and some flapjack...not sure how long they'll last..I wonder if you can freeze them might have to do a search on here to find out.

Still need to put DH's invoices in envelopes and post off (have a post box near by only problem is its at the bottom of our hill). Need to tidy worktops and sweep kitchen floor. That will probably be about it...still haven't tidied dinning room. :o Could do with a sleep I'm slowly loosing my patience again obviously still too tired....must go to bed early tonight!!!

Haven't got enough salad for tea but DH took the car to work this morning and its been to horrid to go out plus the pushchair is in the car...I guess I'll have to go when he gets back and be stuck in rush hour traffic for half an hour (I wouldn't mind but tescos is only about 2 miles away).

Right best get off, have a good evening one and all.
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

Hi all, my absence today is explained by the fact that my DH is home and has been busy flying planes all day :(

I've just been told he's home for nearly all of March too due to using up his leave before April, so if I disappear for a month it's not that I'm fed up of old style just that I can't get near the computer :(

Planning to make some muffins tomorrow afternoon, so at some point I will need to get some eggs and some chocolate chips. With luck I'll be able to freeze a few before OH gets home and eats them all (a very bad habit of his).

We have freeview at home....and last night when we turned one of our smaller TVs on it went straight into Sky Three. Suspect we may have some interference with next door. We don't even have a dish, never mind a box! Wouldn't have complained though if it had been an interesting channel.

Edit: kiwichick - can I just ask how long you normally find it takes per day for all the paid2clicks?

Prob around half an hour TBH. I know it probably works out at some miserly hourly rate but its still money I wouldnt have otherwise.

  • I am absolutely exhausted today. :( DH kept me up last night, needing to do a minute examination of our relationship and where we're heading. All very hard work at 2am. Finally slid into bed at about 3am, emotionally wrung out and physically shattered. Up again at 6.30am to get DS ready for and delivered to school.

Have done the sum total of zippo, nada, nothing, today. Put some pork chops in the SC at lunchtime and am about to cook some rice to go with them.

Once everybody is fed and watered, I shall again return to my semi-comatose state until tomorrow, whereupon (hopefully) normal service will be resumed. ~yawn~
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:
