  • hugs to suzy g - all sounds very unfair, hope it works out.

to the other crocheting people out there (i'm so excited that i'm not the only one!) - have you tried doing it with beads? you string little ones on the thread first, then add one to every stitch. so a line of 4 or 6, then link into a circle and go round, adding a bead again each time. it makes the most beautiful jewellery - very vintage looking!

:) sorry - maybe something to build up to then!
i'm really bad at 'normal' corchet - have never managed a square, but i find doing it with beads quite theraputic.... it also makes me feel productive when i'm not going out and staying in watching tv instead!!

As soon as I have finished making my rug and learned how to use my new sewing machine and actually knitted something following a pattern ;)

I wonder about all this spare time too - having priced up getting my sewing machine serviced (£54 ) and needing to learn how to make decent curtains (7 large pairs plus pelmets) and decorating the rest of the house, lookng after kids, husband, house, mum etc, spending far too long on here (:o) - why have I decided now is the time to learn to crochet?

Maybe it IS because of all the above i have decided to!

    Morning all,

Disturbed night here from dd, who ended up in bed with me since midnight. Ah well, at least she didn't snore as much as DH!

Tonsils are really enflamed this morning and I feel miserable from it. I think I'm going to give in and 'phone the doctors this morning, as once again I have a day off when I feel like doing nothing due to being cold / flu / sick / tonsillitis. This year is getting dull for colds. Right, whinge over, I know it is nothing in comparison to a lot of peeps out there, just feeling sorry for myself and DH isn't here for me to whinge at :(

OS wise: Dependant on how I feel once painkillers etc kick in.

Went to Dunelm Mill yesterday and bought some very pink fabric for curtains for DD's room, plus some blackout lining. 14m of pink fabric!!! We have sash windows which are very long (2m+), so getting standard children's curtains doesn't seem to be possible. Certainly not jolly ones :( If I wanted plain fabric then fair enough.

My DD had just woken up (ok, I woke her up) when we got there and hence was v.grumpy. We went to the fabric and I explained to her what we were looking for - her reaction "no curtains, me no want pink curtains, me no want curtains", so onwards we went (kind mother me!) until eventually after an hour the material was being cut for us, she looks at it contemplatitively "pink? pink curtains?" in a positive kinda way, coming home in the car, couple of mutterings from the back "pink curtains?", so I explain to her that I need to wash the fabric, iron it, then make the curtains and the linings ... all going well so far .... get home, have dinner, take her up to bed, get in to her room, switch on light ... she looks at her curtains, looks at me ... "where's pink curtains? me want pink curtains" .... poor lass, no concept of time! (She is only 2!) .... so material washed, going to attempt to hang it on the line and take it from there!
