Hello everyone, i haven't been on here for weeks and subsequently have been a bit lazy with cooking/housework and spending money i don't have - i need you lot to keep me on the straight and narrow!
I've had a bad few weeks feeling ill (i have Fibromyalgia) and i just did whatever was easiest regarding meals etc which cost me a lot more than usual, especially with having my mam shop for me (she always buys branded!). Anyway, i'm feeling better now and i need to get back into a routine if i am to save some money for DD and I to go on holiday this year (we've never had a holiday).
Not up to much today, first day of halfterm for DD but shes not well so we've been stuck in the house all day, the weather can't make it's mind up today, one minute its hailing and the next its bright and sunny.
I'm doing a pasta bake for tea, nothing exciting but i need to get back to cooking meals at proper times and actually eating them as DD has been being fed at my mams or on stuff from the freezer for a fortnight and i haven't been eating much.
Hope everyone is well

Afternoon
SIL came and cleaned out a few kitchen cupboards and scrubbed them down, wooden blinds, fireplace, pine glass cabinets and the ironing. So am very happy.
2 washloads done and dried on airer. Bed aired and made. Sorted some more items for ebay. HM quiche for lunch with left over trifle from yesterday. OH just peeling the spuds (HM chips)for tea and starting to cook the gammon with pineapple. May throw in a few onion rings and have peas too:D
OH did his first OU exam today and will find out results on saturday-im sure he will do well.
Have a huge shop coming from Asda tomorrow and have been naughty and ordered 12 bottles of wine from Tescos (normally £10 a bottle) for under £3 a bottle including delivery. Used a £15 off £50 spend voucher and its free delivery on booze next week. So have saved £80+. Our local offy sells this wine for £11 a bottle:eek:
Anyways, best go and see whats happening with tea as Im starving.
See Ya

suzy_g wrote:hi everyone i should be at work but i asked to come home as im very upset, i have just found out that a lot of the other sales people are on more then me, what really upset me was even the bloke that shares the same shop as me, who only started a year ago (i been there 6years) is on more then me, i ask why and my manager said its what he ask for when he started, so i said my money should of been put up the same, its only 25p per hour but its not the money, this has hurt me, sorry to bore you all with this but i needed to get this off my chest, i know our other shops in diffrent areas get more, but this has really upset me
If they are doing the same work but getting more money this could come under "equal opportunities", maybe you should see the CAB about this as men and women doing the same work or work of an equal value etc should legally be paid the same.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Suzyg, is the person on more money than you per hour the same sex as you? If not then it's illegal...it's against the sex discrimination act...the law says that employers must pay ...equal pay for work of equal value. What a person asks for is irrelevant. It is the employers responsibility to pay fair wages and by law they must treat all employees equally. I think they will owe you a lot of back pay...ask them for it and quote the equal pay act or the sex discrimination act...if all else fails go to the citizen's advice bureaux. I know this is the case because I was an employer and got done for it. Good Luck
ps could anyone post a recipe for the veggie quiche which was mentioned at the beginning of this thread...I've not made quiche for years and have forgotten how. thanksWombling £457.410 -
Pooky - I spent an hour this afternoon getting to grips with crochet. I got 2 books out of the library and when I found that by using them both in tandem, I could get to grips with the basic stitches. However, I'm having problems working out how to do row upon row ie all this filling in cos you did a triple stitch to turn
I'll have another look alter cos my head was beginning to swim a bit by then - my attention was also being demanded by a tired 3yo and a 6yo who wanted to know all about Star Wars (I dunno - never watched them !) What I need is to actually see someone do it, rather than books - are there are video clips out there in cyberland? I shall google shortly.
Tea eaten early, my head's still banging - wonder if I need my eyes testing? Hope I don't need (new) specs cos there aren't in the budgetThe pair I have are usually worn about 5 times a year
Kids are tired, esp DS2. He's done nothing but whinge all afternoon. Early night for him I think - and me too0 -
I've totally got out of the habit of posting on these threads - still reading though.
We get the keys to our 1st house this Wednesday - I expect to get them about 4pm although we've been told midday. I have an 8.30am dentists appointment as well that day, so there's something to distract me from the wait. (Went in with toothache last friday & that is when the temp filling will be replaced - so glad it won't need root canal)
My course isn't running this semester so I'm helping out on a different one and consequently only have to go into work on Tues & Thurs. This is so useful since I need to get the flat sorted out for some hope of getting the deposit back. Unfortunately part of the toilet seat has snapped (that looks so embarrasing in print) so all my hard work removing 12 years of limescale (last tenants never cleaned anything!) has gone to waste. I am consoling myslef with Whittards hot white chocolate drink - MmmmmmStill wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!0
