  • Morning, all.

Didn't wake up until 9am, this morning!! ~blink~ I guess that's in reaction to being up at 5.30am for the last two mornings! :) Consequently, we've only just had brekkie and there's not a child in the house washed. lol

I'm so proud of myself - after making the SC roast chicken, I strained off the stock that was left in the SC and am now the proud owner of a tub of chicken stock. My first ever. :rotfl: Amazing the things that make a person proud, eh?

All this talk of quiche has got me thinking .. I've a cupful of chicken, some eggs, a little bit of cheese, some peppers .. hmmn!! Reckon I can feel a quiche coming on. :D I shall have to research the method further! That'll be another first, if it comes off!

DH is contemplating taking DS swimming again today - its DS's last day of half term. Hope so, because I've got LOADS of stuff to do today - vacuuming, ironing, beds to change, bedding to wash etc etc. I'd quite like to have a clearout of the larder cupboard and chuck out the cupboard trolls who I'm sure are living under the pasta mountain. ;)

    Have a great day, everyone!

B : speckly bread toast with lime marmalade
L : maybe quiche, maybe not
    D : meatballs and pasta

Edited to say that I made a chicken, sweetcorn & red pepper quiche, topped off with some grated Edam. I've just taken it out of the tin and it looks frippin' fabulous!! Hope it tastes as good as it looks & smells! I'm so proud of it, I've taken a picture - how sad is that. :rotfl:
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

hi everyone i should be at work but i asked to come home as im very upset, i have just found out that a lot of the other sales people are on more then me, what really upset me was even the bloke that shares the same shop as me, who only started a year ago (i been there 6years) is on more then me, i ask why and my manager said its what he ask for when he started, so i said my money should of been put up the same, its only 25p per hour but its not the money, this has hurt me, sorry to bore you all with this but i needed to get this off my chest, i know our other shops in diffrent areas get more, but this has really upset me

  • Happy birthday Jenny :j Which of the forces is your OH in,I love a man in uniform? ;)

Hope things work out at work Suzy :grouphug:

I'm a happy bunny because my Be-Ro book has arrived,I feel a baking session coming on.

Spent too much at Tesco this morning .My budget is £50,but I've spent £73 +£8 at the farmshop.I have done a bit of stocking up,will try to be more frugal next week.

Am munching my way through a v.big bag of v.expensive posh crisps that I bought at the farmshop.Bad for my purse and v.bad for my figure(what figure?).The farmshop sells a strange mixture of good,basic,no-nonsense local veg which is good value, and overpriced, unecessary deli-type foods - like posh crisps, chutneys etc.My ds1 always asks for the lemonade when he comes with me - about £3.50 for 4 glasses

Well I ought to hoover, iron and bake, but I think I'll hang around here while I have another coffee.

Morning all, my plans for a nice OS day have gone out of the window yet again  Blummin MESS! (work variety this time). Why do people open their mouths before their brains are in gear so often!! Ah, well, I guess we all do it from time to time.

Rant over icon7.gif. Hope I can catch up with the daily thread at least a little later.

    ((((Hugs to all))))
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

Awwww, Suzy! So sorry to hear that. What the heck are they thinking? Maybe you could harness your upset and morph it into righteous indignation - then arrange a meeting with your Boss, when you explain how six years of loyalty, plus time spent training new people, should be worth 25p per hour to them - if not more. Don't let 'em grind you down - stand up tall, put your lippy on and get in there and tell 'em how it is. But in the meantime - big hugs 'cos you're so upset. :(

Hi again - just thought I'd say happy birthday to Jenny and a big HELLO to newbies!

HUGS to suzy g - if you're doing the same work as other people and are not on a commission-based salary, then if anything you should be on MORE money than somebody who's been there a much shorter time than you. It is definitely something you should address through your company's grievance procedure.

SnowyOwl - my sympathies about your noisy office. Particularly the hoover. In my office it comes round at about 7pm, and let's face it, when I'm in at 7pm it's not exactly for fun, I'm not getting paid extra for it, and the last thing I need is to have my concentration disturbed. However the photocopier's the main bane of my life at the moment - people have been TOLD it's out of order but they will persist in trying to use it, so I have to sit here trying to work above the sound of machinery chewing up paper. The repair man's here at the mo...

I think I must have let OS take over my life :D This sounds totally sad but I am SLAVERING over the thought of the cured ham hock I got at the farmers' market yesterday. It'll go in the slow cooker on Saturday, with the fat removed first - think I'll do it in cider or apple juice with some onions and cloves. It'll do a couple of meals with spuds and peas, then a couple of days' worth of sarnies to take to work (accompanied by delish HM apple chutney which was a Christmas present from somebody at church :D) and probably quite a big casserole after that with chickpeas and other veg. Can anybody tell me whether my apple juice/cloves/onions idea is likely to work - I don't think I've cooked cured ham before and I'm not sure if it works with the same flavours as non-cured. This will be the first time I've cooked a whole joint of meat in the SC!

While sitting here reviewing a document that's got to go out this afternoon  I'm pondering the idea of possibly giving up alcohol and chocolate for Lent. I will PROBABLY "cheat" in the perfectly legitimate sense of giving them up Monday to Saturday but still having them on Sundays (Lent's 40 days do not include Sundays). I don't know if I'll feel the need to give up using wine/port/sherry in casserole sauces either, but I suppose I'd better stick to cooking with port and sherry rather than wine because once I've opened the bottle of wine for the casserole, there's always the temptation that the rest will be for the cook ;)

    Must go, busy,

    Rzl xx
