Good job it wasn't my wife the check out person spoke too like that....last one who was ""rude"" was dismissed shortly after.

Racism towards a customer tut tut....yep had the last laugh ;)

Who said anything about racism towards a customer? Just because someone is rude doesn't make them a racist.

I had a bad experience in the same store as the O.P. I purchased a case of orange juice (the type that comes in glass bottles); I was buying nothing else. At the checkout I put one bottle on the conveyor belt leaving the rest in the case in the trolley.I was expecting this to be scanned and multiplied by 12 - but no, I was told very rudely that I had to take all the bottles out of the trolley and place them on the belt. When I queried this saying it would take longer, I was told them are the rules. When I told her that that the manager at the Milton Keynes branch had suggested the method I was trying to use, she started shouting at me that those were the rules.

I walked out, and have not been in that branch since.

Of course checkout operators have a difficult and demanding job, for poor pay, but as I am indirectly paying their wages I expect a certain standard of politeness and civility. If I don't get it I take my custom elsewhere.

I expect you're feeling pretty foolish now aren't you? Start reading smaller posts first and build up your confidence then one day, before you know it, you'll be able to read what somebody actually wrote instead of passing comment on something they didn't which, as you've found, can leave you looking a little deficient between the ears.

Still, a plus point is that you've made me laugh (at you though, not with you).

My comment about imimgrant workers with poor English still holds true however.

Thats how aldi work, they employ minimal amount of staff, the food is put into the troll;ey and then you pack it on the bench or at your car once you have paid, i had to remind customers to not pack the food into the bags at the till and to do it on the bench and they got very peed off with me despite they were in the wrong. I think the OP needs to understand how they operate and why they the keep the prices so low
