  • We purchase some t-shirts and trainers for our son who couldnt be with us as it was a school day. When getting home after picking up our son a cfew t-shirts and the trainers did not fit so we decided to return the items. When we eventually got back to the shop 6 days later, we approached the staff member behind the counter and explained the items did not fit and requested a refund. To our amazement he told us sorry we do not refund unless the item/s are faulty... at that moment my husband speaks up @@your having a laugh, and you are breaking the law under the statutory rights of a purchaser'' the cocky staff member said well since ive worked here nobody gets a refund but i will call the supervisor. The the supervisor turns up and again says that the company policy is no refund unless fauly but we could have a credit note. Again my husband pipes up ''ok so i will take the items outside give them all a tear and pull some threads and will be back in a minute with the faulty goods they so require'' the cocky supervisor then says aaahh but i now that is what you are going to do so i will still refuse a refund..then my husband who has lost all patience suddenly announces '' WHAT A LOAD OF B0011OCKS'' in a very loud voice which catches almost everyone attention in the shop and then tell the cocky supervisor ''YOU ARE TAKING THE FCUKIN P1SS I WANT THE MANAGER HERE NOW OR I WILL TAKE TWICE THE AMMOUNT OF STOCK FROM THE RAILS AND SELL IT ALL ON EBAY FOR HALF THE PRICE TO GET MY MONEY BACK'' the other customers in the now large queue all stand like they have seen a ghost and obviously like most would just accept whatever cr4p these staff members are willing to dish out. Then the manager turns up and says sorry we do not do refunds unless faulty and it is written all over the shop staing this.. i say where i havent seen anything? he then says up there above the counter 12 ft in the air a very small printed photocpied piece of papers staing the facts of their refund policy.. i then turn around to the queue of customers and say can anyone tell me if they knew the sign was up there?? they all said no they had not even noticed the sign and further more it was written so small nobody could even read it as it was so far up in the air you would have need a pair of ladders or binoculars...anyway returning to the manager my husband informs him ''i will stand here all day and tell everyone who comes into the shop that no refunds regardless...which is against the law surely ?'' the manager who did remain clam throughout even though my husband was louder than the coxon on a boat in the boat race down the thames, then said if you would like to follow me to the counter ustairs i will give you a refund... so the moral to the story is shout and scream without threats of violence and they will back down... refund given, an apology for the hassle which we replied with two fingers up we wont be back your company are shysters and fraudulent... so remember you are entitled to a refund just make a lot of noise becasue the last thing they want is to call the police who will do nothing anyway becasue it is they who are breaking the law...

areallyangryshopper, I'm trying to work out what your "real" id is on this forum but as yet I've not managed it.
I have a couple of ideas, but nothing definite.

Areallyangryshopper, do you have a relative who is a conservatory salesman?

Anyway, why didn't you accept an exchange for goods in the right sizes?

I also lost any and all sense of it being anything other than a wind up when you said "your having a laugh, and you are breaking the law under the statutory rights of a purchaser". No such right exists, you were not entitled to a refund it was 100% beyond any doubt YOUR error, YOU also ignored several warning signs around the till area and YOU ignored the standard "no refunds, only an exchange" spiel you get at a Sports Direct till.

    Back under yer bridge.

I really feel sorry for staff who work in Sports Direct. Their wages are crap, they're not allowed to change in/out of uniform in store (thus providing free "advertising") when out and about, and they're mostly on zero hours contracts.
Then they need to deal with a constant flow of morons who can't read signs and don't understand their "rights", and all the abuse that goes with it. Plus, I'd imagine taht their clientele generally aren't "top tier" in the first place.
    Shudder.

We've been into sports direct a couple of times recently to buy clothes for holiday and when we got to the till the assistant served us and she said "would you like a bag ?" we then say "yes please" and then the assistant says "would you like one for £1.50 or a £1?" i soon shouted up and said"i'll have a free one please".

Have never had a problem with Sports Direct, I only buy in store, double check my purchase, be nice to the assistants.
I picked up two pairs of trainers, different styles.
£9 and £11 , if I only get a few months of wear out of them, will be delighted. My normal Reeboks last me a couple of years BUT they cost £55
  • I placed at order at 9am this morning via the sports direct website. My son needs trainers for a football game tomorrow, so I paid the £6 next delivery and also added a couple of cheap (2x £3.50) t-shirts to the order.
They emailed me at gone 10 o'clock at night, more than 12 hours after the order was placed, to say the trainers are not in stock. I'm now still paying £6 for a couple of cheap t-shirts I didn't need desperately and am left unable to purchase trainers for my son without having to rearrange my entire day tomorrow. Not acceptable.
