Sportsdirect - Terrible Service - No cash refund 1 day after purchase

Evening all,
A quick question which I’d be grateful for help with and then a rant if you wish to read on.
I have been told I cannot have a refund on a pair of trainers just one day after purchase. I can't find the returns policy online, but i can't believe that I can't get a refund after 1 day. Is this true?
Now for the little rant
*I went into a branch on Saturday, waited almost 30 minutes for to try on a pair of trainers during which time i had to advice other customers about trainers as the store was seriously understaffed and the staff there were quite frankly useless
*I thought the shoes were too tight, but was told i would have to join the queue and wait another 30 minutes to get another pair to try. I decided to buy them and try them at home.
*I was told I had to queue up at a separate queue to get some swimming equipment, then back up to the main queue to collect my trainers.
*All in all i waited an hour for a pair of trainers and some goggles! I would wait that long to buy a car!
*Having tried the shoes on at home and decided they didn't fit I have taken them back. They had non in a bigger size, but i could not have a refund as i didn't buy them on my credit card and so have been given a voucher.
*I’m definitely complaining. I appreciate this is a discount store, but the service is appalling and I can’t face more time in the shop!

There are many complaints on these boards about this company. They just don't do refunds and you have to argue with them even when something is faulty. An automatic refund when something has been purchased wrongly (eg wrong size) is not law it is, as Dan Thomas has said, goodwill. Unfortunately, Sportsdirect don't have any of this!0

Thanks for the reply guys,
On the one hand I suppose it is my fault as at the end of the day I did buy the shoes, as I assumed that like all other shops I’ve returned things to there would be no problem. In my defence though, I’d spent that long in the shop and experienced such bad customer service that I couldn’t face waiting another 30 minutes to try on another pair.
It’s not the first time I’ve been in there and ended up having to leave because you can’t get served. I suppose I should have learnt my lesson.
I think I will complain, just because of the service I received (or rather didn’t), but I guess I’m just going to have to spend the voucher in their...... actually I could always give it to my girlfriend for valentines day! (just kidding!!!)0 -
I have to agree they are poor, I went into a store (empty) and after I had spent 15 mins looking for some running shoes no one approached me to ask if i needed assistance so i walked out andwent to JJB. Unfortunately JJB didnt have the shoes in my size that i wanted (I would have paid the extra £9 not mse i suppose but..) so I had to go back to sportsdirect and ask to be served, which really grated especially as the member of staff tried to give me a load of bull as to how they should fit. I also won't use them again in a hurry.:staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0

Sports Direct is ok for the occasional bargain, but mostly it is full of tat, staffed by fairly clueless kids, and it's constant 70% off price reductions could give DSF a run for their money in the liar stakes.
Also, many of their brands are actually owned by Sports Direct - they own Antigua, Carlton, Donnay, Dunlop, Kangol, Karrimor, LA Gear, Lillywhites, Lonsdale, No Fear, Slazenger and Voodoo Dolls, and a 50% stake in No Fear. So how can they claim '70% off RRP' when they own the company and set the RRP? The RRP is just fiction made to make their tat look cheap.
Remember when Dunlop, Slazenger, Donnay were quality sports brands? The other thing I notice is that even when you see a 'quality' brand in SD, like YSL, the clothes feel and look like stuff off the market. If it's genuine, why is that?0 -
LOL
You advised other people when you cannot get your own right, unbelieveable. JUst trying on the one should have given you the idea it was tight and as for advising others, what if they need ot bring theirs back because of something and their defence? Some bird advised me but they were wrong. How do they have any comeback
Not being funny or owt - but !!!!!! are you on about?0 -
Mike Ashley was involved with the company and he is an absolute shambles and everything he touches is naff so I would just avoid this store in general!! lol0

Like voiceofreason, I too was a bit confused about omen666's post...LOL

Is the suggestion that 'ianianian' is female? Or that bad advice inevitably comes from a woman??"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
apologies, just cannot get my head round why the OP was giving advice and then gets it wrong themselves, also any others purchasing anything that were given advice by the OP have no comeback either f the advice was wrong0
