Lilgees
you are giving advice to people who posted in April & May this year so to advise them that they are 100% entitled to their money back (Jumsta) and to go back into store with a tape measure and they'll get their money back (Toasterman) is probably a tad on the late side.pollycat! And she wasn't unkind and she put a winky smily in her post.
You were far ruder to her than she was to you. In fact she wasn't rude at all!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Ha. Yes. I am probably a bit late.
The long and short of my earlier rant (if anyone wonders), is that I decided to cut my losses and use the larger-than-it-was-sold-as suitcase, as a non-carry-on suitcase. It's a little smaller than I would have preferred, but it'll do.
I contacted Sportsdirect several times in writing. They would just tell me they'd look into x, or they'd check on y, or else just ask me for the same details I'd given them already, again. Waste of my time.
My initial anger about this resulted in me writing several angry blog posts, which somehow BBC watchdog spotted, and contacted me, as they were putting together a piece about Sportsdirect complaints. I declined to take part, but gave them the information I had to help with their enquiries.0 -
My pet theory about SD. The Eastern Europeans like it, and they don't complain. Like this guy I know, I think he's Latvian, working here, and he bought something on ebay, a computer, for six hundred quid, was messed about, overcharged, sent the wrong thing etc. and he's just miserably accepting it, not really understanding he has rights, or not having the confidence in language skills to make a fight.
I bought something there once and was assuming I could have the hanger but it was snatched away from me and the girl explained that they 'buy hangers in batches'... not quite sure what that means, but yes, it's horrible.
I still use it though, because it's the only place I can get size 13 converse rip offs online.0 -
I really hope that there is a Watchdog investigation into how Sports Direct operates as I would be interested to know quite how the practice of the stores and the website being operated as "two separate businesses" works.
They have used this get-out when I queried price differences between them (and not including the catalogue as well....), plus the fact that they add "Sale" flashes to products that are exactly the same price as before being listed as "Sale" items, and - my initial question - why and how they justify adding another £20.00 to the price of a running shoe at the point it changes from a 5 to a 6 (all within the ladies' section - website, not the stores - where, as far as I can tell from my limited research (yes, I hate the stores too.... get pani attacks), the higher price is charged for all sizes, due mainly to (according to helpful sales staff) the fact that the IT/till/stock system cannot charge a different price based on size.
So my inital query/complaint, which was brushed off with the stores/website/two separate entities flim-flam, has now expanded to ask them to answer the question about how they can say this when every storefront, super-strong (butt-ugly) carrier bag, flimsy carrier bag, staff T-shirt and any label or till receipt has written upon it
SPORTS DIRECT.COM , which implies that they are the very same thing.
As yet, I have no response - so I would be happy if Watchdog would want to bring this up in their investigation.
On a side note:
I bought a MuddyFox (SD brand, but I didn't know at the time....) mountain bike in the summer of 202.. As I rode it more frequently over the last year, I took it to a local indepedent cycle repair and service shop in my little town. It has been gradually upgraded to have many parts and also disc brakes and new suspension; the latter after I flew over the handlebars into tarmac after allowing a friend to adjust the standard V-brakes until they were too sharp. Ho hum. Broken left arm.
Anyway, my point is, the tame cycle specialist tells me that the bikes sold from Sports Direct are only designed and built to be ridden six times a year.

You do understand don't you, that any shop/store/business can charge whatever price it likes at any of it's outlets?
Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda etc. do it.
They charge different prices depending on what the market will stand.
Even Greggs do it. This thread will interest you.
Also, they do not have to justify their shoe size pricing structure.0 -

Surely you cannot be serious? It's not a hard concept to grasp.
The store will have different operating costs, so prices will differ.
It's not illegal or unjust - it's absolutely fine.
I cannot fathom the mind of someone who can't understand why different locations of the same business sell for different prices.0 -

I agree.
It's the same with banks - the same organisation will offer better interest rates if you open an online account than they do in branch.
Not hard to understand why.0 -

And this ^^^^ is why I have stayed away from this website and entire forum - and is also - thanks for the "explanation" people - why I am already, and aim to be further, a very low consumer - and happy to be so.
I must have missed the "business can charge what they like" memo but thanks so much for the enlightenment" and, matty, NO NEED AT ALL to try and understand the mind of this person.
Cheers.
