Morning Chums ,
rotten wet'n'windy day here.
Just had my DD on the phone, my DGS had a bump in his car on the way to college this morning. Danny O.K.but car looking a bit battered. Lorry driver pulled out in front of him whilst he was stationary in a line of traffic on the motorway:eek: .He swerved into the back of another car.Luckily the other car is o.k. and the man who owned it was very nice and said to my DD (as she shot up there to see) that it wasn't Danny's fault He has a slightly dented Renault five now.He is heartbroken as it was his pride and joy that he had worked his socks off to buy.But he is o.k. and thats all that matters. DD in bits ,but Danny has gone off to college, as he has some exams coming up.It's still driveable, but just looks a bit bashed.
Yougest DD had her interview and will hear on Friday if she's got the job or not. She has written off to around thrity odd places for jobs and this is her first interview, she has another one next Wednesday so she is keeping her options open all the time.
Got some beef mince out of the freezer to make some sheppards pies and just realised that I've got to get some spuds as I'm empty. So a trip to the shops is on the cards ,blow it, I was hoping to last out till tomorrow as I haven't been since last Friday ,still if I go today then that's it for another week.
Got Drs appointment tonight at 6.30 . I have had a really nasty cold that now has gone to my chest and I am coughing like an old sailor on 40 Woobines a day. My DD heard me, and said phone the Drs now for an appointment, or else. She is such an old worry wart bless her I'm sure my Dr. has enough to put up with without me bothering him. Still, to keep her happy and to stop her worrying about her son I've got an appointment
Well time to toddle off to the shops to get my spuds ,have a good day everyone even if the weather is rubbish.Soon the Daffodils will be about in the shops and that will cheer us all up.
<<hugs>> to those in need and a big:D to the rest of you.
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
(((Hugs))) to all those whe went to the dentist yesterday; sorry the experience wasn't good.
Rage in Eden - (((hugs))) to you; as has been said, you did well to restrain yourself.
R.Mac - most first babies are late - mine was a week late but arrived on my birthday, so I didn't mind! Good luck and I wish you well when the LO finally decides to make an appearance, and hurry back here with some photos, won't you?
Well, I've just done two hours of writing which had a midday deadline and it was touch and go whether or not I got it done in time, but it's just been emailed off, so I just made it.
It has stopped raining for the moment and the sun has even come out, but I don't think it will last.
Anyway, I'm starving so I'm going to have an early lunch, pop to the Post Office and take a couple of hours on the sofa this afternoon.

Squares: 11, Animal blankets: 20 -
Taplady - Hope you get hold of the person who hit your car
Specsappeal - I saw Death race at the flicks and it is very good
Rage in Eden - (((Hugs))) to you. Tell your DH about my Dad, who sat through the whole inauguration hoping for a repeat of JFK. That is rascist.
TiredMum - Hope the cat comes back soon
Sybil - Our cats do that all the time and it is just cause they are greedy fat pigs. Your story about evil cat being sick over another cat had me in stitches
SunnyDay - Yes, unfortunately some people do think we are cliquey as we all know each others business and newbies feel scared to join in - but they shouldn't be scared, as we baptise new people with vinegar and hail them with microfibre cloths!
Aussie - Happy Birthday!
R.Mac - Start eating really hot curries
Off to Dunster with my Mum in a mo - we were going to go round the gardens of the castle but have decided to leave that for another day when we can look at the castle as well (it does not open until March). Apparently the village is lovely though and has all my kinds of shops, so will probably end up spending a fortune. There is a also a little antigue/junk shop on the way back which I will have to go in
Hope you all have a good day :beer:We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -

What? Kevin Costner in a bad fitting suit???
What really upset me (and I am still sobbing about it) is that we've been together nearly 20 years and he can't see that I'm complaining about the hype of the media rather than the man. As we all know the media whip everything up into a frenzy and then you get people acting how the media want them to etc.... Yes it is a very historic event but it was all they could talk about - nothing about him himself and what line they think he'll take on issues etc.... I have a few american e-mail pals who although they voted for him and think he will be great were mega-mortified by the media......... I guess I'm just getting to the end of my tether......and would you believe I'm still sat here in my dressing gown and working... But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green

Good afternoon all!
Wow you've all been a busy bunch if the size of the thread is anything to go by! Will have a catch up in a bit, think I'll need a cuppa for that! Any excuse!
Well it's windy here today, dog really doesn't like it, his ears go everywhere - he's a basset, perhaps I should get him some ear muffs lol!
I've mopped the kitchen again, oh I like my new mop lol! Hoovered, washed up, made pizza bases (another menu change) and they're now on their second rising, thrown dough ingredients in bm, will take it out in a mo and shape into rolls, portioned up leftover lasagne (can't believe there were leftovers, amazing!), put on wm, cleared the accumulated rubbish from last night that the kids leave everywhere and painted my finger nails! Okay that last one isn't exactly OS, I know!
Friends due over soon and we're off to lunch I hope, cos if we sit down here I'll never get to the shops for the odd bits I need (darn kids found the secret stash of loo rolls and now we have none - well there are some in the bathrooms, but no spare!).
No work tonight and kids are doing something with their dad, so I'm popping out for a drink with a friend, well lime and soda cos I'll be driving! Anyway it'll be nice to get out, usually on a Thursday I'm asleep really early cos of working nights! Will have to get ds to record the Victorian Farm for me, and the programme that Jay Rayner has done about value foods.
Have a good day all, off to make that cuppa now, hugs to all in need xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
:T oooh thanks for reminding me about the value foods programme tonight....almost forgot0

Rage in Eden - just sending you hugs.
And you could remind your dear heart that you have had a very dreadful time for a very long while and the least he could do is be nice to you.
Hope you feel better soon.
Also, take care of yourself.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
Oh Sybil you are such a sweetie if it had been me sending Rage in Eden advice it would have been to put itching powder in his undies:rotfl:
Well briefly and I do mean briefly the rain eased and we saw a bit of blue skies:eek: But now its clouded over again and is threatening rain
Been out to Morrisons this morning to get some of the chinese meal deals and spring rolls etc.Its Chinese New Year on Monday so I'm planning a special meal for us complete with lanterns etc.I thought it would be a good crafty project for the kids to get involved in this weekend as its bound to be rainy:mad:
Also nipped into the material shop and got a bag of material offcuts for £4 to start my patchworking.I've been doing a lot of crocheting recently and need a change
Chilli and Rice for tea with Rhubarb Crumble and Custard for pud

Afternoon all.
((((HUGS)))) for everyone who's hurting, sad, worried, lonely or just want one. So many people have been having a tough time.
Much sympathy for those with visits to the Fang Farrier - Mr LW went for a checkup last Saturday, and he's got to go and have some work done. He's got a crowned tooth that has started rotting under the crown. Dentist says he can either have it taken out and an implant done (£2000:eek::eek::eek:) or POSSIBLY have it re-crowned (£150) but he won't know if re-crowning is possible til he takes the old crown off IYSWIM. Anyway, he's got 3rd Feb off to go, his appointment is 11:30. I've suggested he have a hearty breakfast that day, as he probably won't be able to eat for some hours afterwards.
Mr LW is home today, as he's on Early shift, so Shepherd Spy is merrily cooking, even as I type, for our lunch. I've been informed that we're off to Homebase when he finishes, as 15:50. Not so keen on that, but I suppose it'll get me out of the house.
Got a Mensa meeting this evening; just hope I still have enough energy! If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
