Thursday 22 January

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 22 January. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well

Morning all,

Horrible day here, wind is howling and its lashing with rain, much colder too, my OH has to go to a funeral today which is not nice at the best of times, but is horrible in this weather, it is for a friend of his who has been suffering for many years with a brain tumour and sadly died last saturday, he was 35, it will be a sad day, i am not going as I did not know the family and I do not want to intrude on their grief, no sympathy needed as really they are trying to celebtare his life, all the lads are going out for a drink tomorrow night to remember him.

Goodness sorry for the depressing start, off to work today, so os will be minimal, bit will out a wash on this morning and OH will hang it before he goes, something and chips for tea, from the freezer so nice and quick, and I have a sainsbugs delivery coming tonight.

Hugs to all in need,

halfpint I hope you managed to sleep xx

Smoky I hope you and the children are ok,

And hugs to Taplady and Diva xx

Have good days all xx

    Morning Everyone,

Cold & raining here today. Busy one here too got a hospital appointment at 11am with dd. She has epilepsy (well controlled with medication so no seizures for over a year now) and as she is now 16 her old consultant paedatrician (sp?) has referred her to an adult Neurologist & it's her first appointment with him today. We'll miss the other doctor though he was so supportive in the early days when we needed letters for school, Army cadets, insurance companies to prove that dd wasn't a huge risk to take anywhere, I'm sure the new one will be just as good, he was recommended by old one.

WM on it's 2nd load, kitchen swished & animals fed & watered. Lunch will be a sandwich on the hoof depending on when we're done at the hospital. Dinner is soup & nann followed by sponge pudding & custard - yummy!

Hope everyone has a good day. Love to anyone who needs it.

    Louise xx

    Morning.

Pretty wet down here. 50mm rain in the last 24 hours that's 2 inches in old money. 8c and wind up to 28mph. YUK. My garden was mostly floating yesterday. It's amazing that grass can survive at all.

Work today, Court on my day off, which means double pay :j . It will all add up. But with the $ dropping, I have to wonder if USA is a suitable destination? May be I will go fishing in Faroes or Iceland for some big cod.

Went to see a house yesterday, needs modernisation, but I am taken with it. 2 miles from Lands end in a little village with pond and geese etc. Great coastal coves etc. Hmmmm... better pray and see what happens. I am just scare to move I guess.

Well much to think about, but first packed lunch to make and then get ready for work. Cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

It's chucking it down here today, sorry I know that's not as accurate description as N9eav gives. (I love the info from your weather station.)
It will probably be wet at work today too, BOW has been very tearful over the last few days! There are more details on my blog, but it's still not up to Katy standards.
Hugs to PP, Smokey, Taplady & Bertha, Halfpint & anyone else in need, I'm suffering from BOWstress & have no memory.
Popped into Lidl yesterday whilst waiting for hubby, I spent £12.50, hubby caught me up & added £34 of carp to the trolley, still I didn't complain as he paid for the lot.
    Breakfast - Porridge
    Lunch - Tinned salmon sarnies
    Tea - Pork chops
I hope everyone has a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all,:j :j ,
I hope that evryones doing ok. Halfpint so sorry to read about your dog its always hard when you lose a member of your family my dog died 5 years ago and i still miss him i wonted a do when my wife and i brourt this house but she wonted a cat and she won so we ended up with two cats! a bro & sis she went for one but did not feel that she could part the two that were left so she ended up bring both home with her! Anyway i hope that you will be ok and that it all works out good for you.

Got no real plans for today got a bit more stuff to put up the loft and of coures im still going to be job hunting! the job center gave me a couple of web sites to look at that offer training. a iv got a phone number to ring so i might have a look at them.

I said last night that you all that id tell you what i would like to train as so here goes i would like to train and work as a suport worker for young people with a disabilty:T
As iv been ill myself and in ways still ill. i have some personal hands on experance. my wifes cousin has also got Downs she is 20 this year.
So i do know some ins and outs.
I know that i may need to get more experance so im going to look at doing some volantry work in my local area so im going to look for any local charity that may like my help.

My main pronlem is that im waiting for MIR scan reluts i have a scan every 12 months just to keep an eye on whats going on. now for the last 4 years iv known about a brain tumor thats there but not growing or doing anything just siting there. now the last 12 monthly scan that i had thay were worried that it had restarted to grow!! so thay said i would need to have another one in 6 months time. i had that scan in december and now just waiting iv got to go and see them at the start of march.

If it has started growing then thay will wont to remove it. depending on how fast its growing will deteamin how fst thay remove it! so it could take upto another 12 months befor thay do anything.
So someone may not wont to give me a job knowing that i will end up haveing a lot of time off or a long time off after thay have removed it.
but i can still dofree work for a charty and i can still do some training.

Right now i just need to know whats going to happen so i can start planning.

anyway im off to get another coffee now
    so have a great day all:j :j
ill speak to you all later:j :j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j

My dh is on the committee of a local group called Jigsaw that is a sport & social club for disabled young people aged 13 - 30. Our dd also volunteers & loves it. The sports group does Boccia, swims, wheelchair basketball, gym & much more. They went to the Paralympics last year. The social group does all sorts - going out for meals, concerts, cooking demos & lessons, crafts, visits to galleries etc. They are always crying out for volunteers so hopefully you will find something quickly to get you some experience, even if it's unpaid to start with. I think you'll be great - you have the right attitude for it. Good luck with it all!
