Afternoon friends!
Cold here. All a bit grey out of the window.
Halfpint - I am so sorry about your dog and I am shedding tears for you right now. *hugs*
Mudgekin - *hugs* back to you honey
specsappeal - well done on your job
Peyton - the poem you posted made me cry again - I am really tearful today and no idea why!!
Moggins - thinking of you hon
My Lakeland parcel arrived today which was exciting, I love getting parcels in the post. Thank you to whoever posted the free delivery code, I wouldn't have ordered otherwise and now I have a lil parcel of goodies to look at! (plus a box of turkish delight which somehow found its way onto my order
)
I still haven't heard from Tristan, but have to cling on to 'No news is good news', as I am sure if something dreadful had happened someone would have let me know by now. I was going to write more but I think I will leave it at that for now.
Had a lovely dinner last night, sausagemeat pie - was really filling and delicious and plenty left for today and probably more! My OH has demanded/requested that I tell you all he went to Sainsburys last night and came home with two huge bags of peppers for just 20p each and he only had to throw away one pepper that was squishy. He was very proud of himself! Of course now I have to work out how to use up 17 peppers!! Any suggestions would be welcome, except soup - my OH doesn't eat soup. Can we just slice them raw and freeze? Peppers never usually last long enough in this house for it to be a problem... even when we grow them, we don't end up with 17 all in one go!!
I just found myself yelling at the TV. They were showing a couple whose house had been reposessed and yet in the room with them was a huge HUGE tv and at least two games consoles... I know those things alone wouldn't have stopped them losing their house, but I would have sold anything and everything to try and hang on to my home in their position. Goddddddd - I can hear myself being judgemental and I don't like it, but we struggle to pay the mortgage etc and we have a 10 yr old TV and no games consoles here!
BM isn't on as OH also got an organic mixed seeds loaf for 40p last night! He is my brave lil hunter.. *chuckles*
Just wanted to send big
to anyone who needs one today and as everyone has said, this board is always here to give support and encouragement when we all need it, as well as sharing our OS efforts.

On Monday put some leftover rice in what I think is a small tub. I thought 'egg-fried rice for my lunch on Tue or Wed'. Just got it out and noted there was rather more than I'd thought. Made egg-fried rice though. I ended up with a huge pile of it-enough probably for 3. I think to myself, well I'll only eat a third of it then I'll just have to throw the rest away with it being rice.
So, predictably I've eaten it all. Well, I didn't want to throw it away:doh: This is precisely why I'm overweight.
So lesson learnt 1) Divide leftovers into smaller portions. 2) Don't cook so much in the first place.0 -
Halfpint - so sorry to hear about your four legged member of the family. They give us such unconditional love that it's devastating when they're no longer there. You cry as much as you need to.....
Kathy - hope your back is on the mend? You have my sympathies, there's nothing worse than back pain.0 -
I keep dosing myself up with cough mixture as I have got a tickly cough thats driving me nuts.I may try my late ma-in-laws cure of boiled lemonade as hot as I can drink it.It seemed to work for her.
I usually make this home remedy for me and the kids when we have coughs and colds, only we add a bit of honey and a tsp of glycerine (from chemist) as well and if i happen to have a jif lemon i squeeze an extra bit of lemon in too!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

A good afternoon to all and lots of big yet gentle (((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) for all.
I've not gotten much done today OS for sure. Went back to bed when DH left for work and slept for an hour and a half. Just felt absolutely shattered. Up again at 9 and did the washing up from breakfast, swished the kitchen and bathroom and just a wee tidy was needed. Furchild Bree had a nice long walk for her second of the day and is contentedly sleeping on the settee with her blanket.
Non-OS, I got all my daily clicks done for the first time in a while. I've decided to take a break halfway through and do another chore before finishing them. It's more enjoyable that way for me and so I hope to continue with it. Checked the few survey sites I do and no surveys yet today. TBH, I'd just as soon not have any today.
I'm still so very tired and just don't feel right. I don't seem to be coming down with anything and I've been getting enough sleep. Maybe I just think I'm getting enough sleep and I'm not. Whatever the case, I'm hoping to be in bed before 9 tonight.
Brekkie today for DH was an egg on toast, I made the mistake of having a taste of the chocolate fudge pudding cake. I'm now having to plan something for our afters tonight.
Pulled out what I thought was a chicken, tomato and pasta thing that I was going to turn into soup for lunch. It was sausage casserole. So that is lunch for us both. Tea will be fish and chips, with both coming straight from Iceland's freezers. I think our afters will be the only OS cooking I do today.
In an often thoughtless world, where some do not care that words can wound, it is a pleasure to come here each day. It was heartwarming to see others take up for Sybil and Thriftlady. Not in the same manner as the poster who started it, but with politeness and respect that was sadly missing in said poster's words.
More (((((((((((((((((Gentle Hugs))))))))))))))))))) for all just because you are you.
Peyton xxTake the first step.
Even if you cannot see the whole staircase,
Just take the first step.

Moggins - big hugs to you, what a difficult and painful situation to be in. I have no good answers, only you can decide what is best for you and your children, but please speak to your friends and family, I'm sure your best friend was simply frustrated and worried that you would be hurt again, yes she might say I told you so, but I'm sure she will support you xx
Diva - hope you hear from Tristan soon xx Well done Mr Diva on your superb foraging and hunting expedition lol! It's great when OH's join in. You can roast the peppers and freeze them, or just chop and freeze, make ratatouille, or cut in half, scoop out seeds, fill with chopped fresh toms, garlic and either salt or anchovies (depending on whether you like them and if you are or aren't veggies), drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle over some torn basil leaves, then bake in the oven for about 30 mins, serve hot, warm or cold with crusty bread!
Friend has been delayed by leaking something coming through the ceiling, so is coming over for tea - gotta love friends who are brave enough to come at that time of day, it's chaos castle here then!
I've been sorting through the floordrobe, literally, the floor of the wardrobe, where on earth does all this stuff come from, most of it is off to the Sally Army clothes bank, they presort any decent stuff for sale and rest goes to rags, not going to get into the charity shops for a bit and don't want the bags hanging around for the kids to pull all the stuff back out! Have bunged them into the car and will drop off in work carpark tonight!
Peyton - what a lovely post last night, thank you! I love this board, it is so friendly, well usually!
