Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 21 January. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well
Morning everyone!
Hope that you are all well and raring to go - it's the middle of the week
I'm not normally up this early, but got woken up a while back by something falling over in the bedroom and I've not been able to get back to sleep. So, thought I'd do something a little bit productive and start the thread for the day.
Had a busy evening last night, sorted out my Dad's van insurance for him. When I got home, made our tea - sausage, mash and beans - real comfort food for this time of year. While that was cooking, I started off making 4 fish pies with some salmon, cod and prawns that I got going cheap, then added the peas and egg, some white sauce and loads of mash on top. Three have gone in the freezer and guess what we're having for tea tonight.......
Also made two salad boxes for our lunches today with some 20p bags of salad that were RTC in the Co-op. Don't normally buy them, but at that kind of price I can't really knock it.
The washing machine is on and with any luck it'll stay dry today so that I can hang it outside. My towels from yesterday dried and then got wet again  The forecast for the end of the week doesn't look too clever, so will be trying to dry inside by the looks of things.
That's enough rabbiting on - I hope that you all have a good day. Hugs to all who need one and here's to a Wonderful Wednesday

Hello early birds! I'm just about to go for my run but it looks frosty so to be honest, not looking forward to it....not that I ever do!
Love and hugs to all0 -
Hi all
A bit cool here but not too bad. I have a pulled muscle in my back so I'm not looking forward to the ironing or washing the kitchen floor, which is desperate, so I'll have to do it.
I'm collecting DGS and DGD from school this afternoon, so I'm looking forward to that.
I have lots of letters to write and other bits and bobs of office work, so I think I'll start on that as soon as DH has left for work.
Dinner tonight is the rest of the stew from Monday, so that's easy. Pudding will be bananas and icecream - even easier!
I hope everyone is feeling well and, for those who aren't, here are some (((hugs)).
Must go, I want to get in the shower before DH gets up.
See you later.

Morning.
Cold down this way 3 c this morning. A little overnight rain 5mm, and light winds. Looks set to change with soem gales sweeping in from the west.
Day off, first in 7, so I will have to get the chicken house cleaned out and a few other chores before being roped in by the OH to see some houses for sale. Can't say I am that enthusiastic about moving, as there is never a great deal out there, and the hastle etc. I know if we did there would be regrets, but then it's too late.....
Made a nice shepherds pie for tea washed down with a nice bottle of burgundy pinot noir.
I saw the Obama inauguaration yesterday, all very intersting. I think we need change.
Another bad day for the £ though. I hope it rallies against the $ or else any idea of a trip to USA will be pointless.
Oil dropped too, but I bet heating oil did not. We are still being overcharged in many areas of the economy...When is electricity going to come down. Someone is making a big fat proffit and it's not me
Thanks for the comments on my daughters' activities. I was quite surprised they got served so many times. Most of the major supermarkets were good, but despite the 25 rule, the purchase went through, but was later refused by the till supervisor. There was no trickery involved either like dressing up or fake ID or lying if asked age etc.
See that knife crime program last night? 13 year olds buying knives and garden tools without a problem. Goverment and courts need to get tough on sentence!

Morning everyone,
It's been a scorcher here today. I was hoping to get the baking done early but waking up at 7am
put heed to that idea. Made a loaf of bread, gingernuts & a passionfruit & lemon slice. DH arrived home at lunch and DGS not long after. He's had 2 swims in his play pool so far & we've taken him & Benny down to the spit so Benny can have a splash and cool off. Tide was way out  so had to practically pack a lunch to get to the water.
Here is a photo of DGS yesterday eating smoko. Ninny makes the best biscuits.
and of him doing a trick.
Didn't see the inauguaration yesterday. What a ridiculous amount of money to spend on it though. Best get going. Hope you all have a great day & <hugs> to those not well. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.

Morning all,
suffering from a severe lack of sleep this morning, I think I've managed about 4 hours, I can't even go back to bed after DD has gone to school as the Asda shop is being delivered between 10 and 12.
Oh well, will muddle on and try to get some flying done and maybe manage an early night tonight. I must look for the pin numbers for my credit cards, I'm going to have to use one of them this week and it's been so long since I used them I can't remember what the numbers are!!0 -

Mornong Folks,
Thanks for all the support with the up and coming appointment tomorrow, I have had a canal before (this one is on a front tooth) and your right it didn't hurt as much as I thought but I just seem to turn into a quivering wreck when I am in there I panic, cry and make a show of myself but I can't help it , I am sure the dentist hates treating me too as I can't keep still lol, well we shall see how it goes in the morn.
I have work again today
I sppose I wouldn't feel so bad if I enjoyed it. I suppose haf the time it's not the job it's some of the people but hey it pays the bills and I am lucky to have a job so for that I am greatful.
I managed to get Friday off work too as I am having my new stairs carpet and fire delivered and fitted - not strctly OS however It has taken us 6 months to save for them(most of which was by cutting food bills....cheers guys
) so I am excited for that!
Well back to today
B - cereal
L - Cheese salad sandwich
D - Freezer suprise with mash peas and gravy
Hope every one is well and hugs if not !

DxDFW AND OS'ER IN TRAINING!!:D
Oh and bump due 3rd Dec 09' mummy to be for the first time :T0 -
daisychain my friend is terrified of the dentist so is always given a prescription for a sedative to take before her appointment. Would your dentist do this for you? It may make things a bit easier. I don't mind the dentist which is lucky as I've had a lot of treatment. My dentist likes ds too as ds thinks the dentists chair is a slide that you have a go on once the man has checked your teeth (two slides if you're lucky).
Off to work soon, take care all of you0 -
