Edit: Sunnyday - to keep my ds topped up with food I made some soup last week, carrots are really cheap at the mo, so I threw loads of chopped carrots, couple of potatoes, couple of onions, herbs, garlic, couple of stock cubes into the sc, when it was done I blitzed it, then put the bowl into the fridge for him to help himself. This week there's no room in the fridge, so I've frozen loads of individual portions in marg tubs, and he can grab these as and when he wants. I just have to make sure there's plenty of hm bread to go with it! It seems to be working though, and it means that I don't go to the fridge to find all the cheese has vanished!
Thanks. That's a good idea as I always have soup on the go or in the fridge in a big pan. I'll start leaving him a bowl full that he can just microwave :T I also go for lots of toast & cocoa as that fills him up for his supper. He was a biggish baby (7lbs 5oz at 35 wks) but was the smallest in his class until Yr9 (last year) when he suddenly GREW!! He's now 5'8" with size 10 feet and seems to have hollow legs  . My MIL said that my dh was the same & whatever she fed him she always made sure that half a loaf of bread went onto the table too :D It's funny to watch him eat actually. There isn't a lot of savouring done & you can really see him 'refuelling' as he goes it makes me smile :rotfl: DD 16 is the other way round. She eats very well, after all I cook it ;) , but she is a size 8-10 because she is careful about what goes in. Hardly any sweets, choc etc. She didn't get that from me I can assure you!
  • HockeyDuo8083 - you are now officially little bear's virtual big sister.

You can be the virtual boss of evil cat if you like, she pays no attention to me. Actually we came to an arrangement. I don't move her if I don't have to and she moves without hissing and spitting when I insist. That was a hard fought battle. The thing about evil cat is her relentless defiance. She is only fluff and malice and doesn't have the sense to know when to give in. When we ate at the kitchen table she used to get up onto the table at every meal time. She knew she was not allowed. We used to spray her with water every time. And every time, regardless of water, she would do a circuit of the table and then off - just to prove she could. The old tom cat that used to possess us used to batter her to pieces. He once threw her out of her flea collar! But he always ended up giving in because evil cat wouldn't give up. I stand no chance.

MrsMW - you are now officially little bear's virtual grannie and have a sticky virtual hug from little bear. :kisses3: (except he doesn't do kisses).

Halfpint - you have just lost a much loved member of the family, who you have been closer to than most humans. Someone who has probably been kinder to you than a lot of humans. Grief is natural. Please be kind to yourself and allow yourself to miss your friend. I hope it becomes easier for you soon, but you can only feel what you feel.

Little bear is just so flat today. My last post was were I sneaked off and left him eating toast for breakfast (I prefer to give him porridge, but in this mood more toast goes in) and when I went back he was still just sitting there (though the toast was very second hand). I think he is hovering on the edge of a cold. Hmm. He gets plenty of fruit and vitamin drops, but today I am going to see if he will tuck into some corned beef. There may be a bit more iron in that. He is completely failing to nap at the moment, but in dire need.

Today I do feel yeurk and my dippy quota seems higher than normal. I also am having trouble moving around, but after the nice lady from the estate agents comes round (she will want to call Kim and Aggie :o - it is that bad!) I am going to risk some watercolour paints with little bear and if I am very brave I shall get out the finger paints :eek::eek: I want to try and make Wednesday afternoons a 'messy play' time for him.

Any tips on motivation to clean house will be welcome, on the understanding that they are not happening today. :o

    Hugs to all

  • Hi Guys!

I couldnt keep up with the thread yesterday so didnt post. Was also feeling quite ill and DD was sent home from school due to feeling sick so was a bad day anyway. She is back to school today but we all just had a sausage sarnie last night as none of us could face a big meal:confused: I have had to start taking my anti-sick tablets again as my weight has dropped and struggling with food. Nevermind....I will try not to moan.

OH picked up some veggie/salad seeds from The Works as they were doing 4 packets for £1...so he got 12. All stuff that we eat. So he will need to go over the veggie patch at the weekend and maybe get some planted soon. DD has offered to help with tidying the garden and clean the car....wonder what she's after...haha!

Had DD's vision assessment back from the visual impairment team at council this morning and they have set new ideas in motion. They have asked permission to team up with the school and put their advice into place. It looks very practical and hope it helps her. I know her vision will never be good but if they can help in any way...that would be excellent. She has muddled on this far and has worked extremely hard to achieve what she has with her blindness.....I know she will be fine:D

WM and DW have both been on. 2 Shepherd pies have been made. One for us and the other for inlaws as FIL just come out of hospital. OH did some ironing this morning and house tidy'ish;) .....he has gone off to his course as he has his exams in 3 weeks:eek:

Have freecycled more books and have somebody collecting at 3.30 today along with a toast rack, dvd's, pesel & mortar (sp) and 2 dishes. Trying to sort through any stuff we dont use.

Going round my friends tomorrow when OH goes to his course. Only for 2.5hrs but will be a nice change and we can have a chat.

Back in hospital next week, so trying to sort a few things out before I go in.

Anyway, I hope all is well and everyone okay.

Twink-My MSN is playing up...bear with me.

    ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((smokey))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

    Hugs to all.

  • Hi all

I am joining the " i am going to the dentist" gang too!
I am there at 11 45 today:eek: and I hate going, am absolutely terrified.
One of my back molars snapped in half and then the other half fell out a week or so after so I now have 4 huge roots which he is going to dig out today...have been dreading it for weeks:o I cry and make a show of myself.
No one would think I gave birth to an 11lb baby with ony gas and air and hardly a murmur( ok a bit of cow like mooing :rotfl: ).

In the essence of OS i have already made a quiche which we will have for tea with mash and beans tonight....nice and soft.
Am full of cold too but managed to still work Mon and Tues as usual....NHS dont like staff sickness;) .
Managed to make marmalade over the weekend but took several attempts to make it set:rolleyes:
Off to catch up with the thread over last couple of days and then get to the butchers...i mean dentists:rotfl:

Mioliere - If you have pulled a muscle in your back, you need to rest not do the ironing or the kitchen floor! You will only do more damage :naughty:
Daisy Chain - Well done for being so brave at the dentist. I had to have a filling in a front tooth on Monday and it has exactly the same effect on me (that is, if I don't vomit or pass out). The dentist must hate me too as I usually tense up so much he can't get in my mouth, and when he does he ends up getting bitten
Halight - I do not envy you going to House of Plenty - when I tried to claim JSA, after filling in about 10'000 forms and seeing umpteeen people they said I had not paid enough NI  (still wanted me to sign on every week though...I said no) Also, if you are 5 minutes late they won't see you, but it is perfectly acceptable for them to keep you waiting an hour and a half+ because THEY are late
MrsTittleMouse - There was a story in the paper about a woman who got so fed up with waiting for the repair for her WM that when the man arrived she held him hostage until it was fixed! I thought of you :D
Purpleivy - That is good news about your parents coming to visit, hope you have a lovely time
Moggins - Hope you are feeling a bit brighter this morning.
Taplady - (((HUGS))). Don't bottle up your grief.
HockeyDuo - Well done on getting your mortgage approved. Here's hoping you find the perfect house now
HalfPint - (((HUGS))). Don't you worry about crying, we will all wipe your tears

I feel very un-OS this week as I am living it up and not having to do anything!
Going out for lunch today with my Auntie and Mum (mum is paying :D). I tell you, this week is doing wonders for my bank account. Had to break my NSDs yesterday as a particularly annoying 'friend' was texting me and I had to put credit on my phone to text him back telling him to stop texting me  I then splurged 2.75 on a
pack of sweets at the cinema. Slumdog Millionaire was quite good, I was in bits at the end (I am like this with most films though :o ).

Will not be a NSD today, I am driving so family can have a drink but need to get petrol.

Right, hope you all have a great day

Well, I didn't mean to buy all that fruit and veg LOL! Went to Morrisons for their beans offer. THey didn't have any and said that it had finished now anyway. Expressed disgust. Got wholemeal that LIdl didn't have, Find that Lidl breadflour has now eventually joined the rest of the world and is 75p/bag  .

Also found a large bag of value spuds in the car that I must have bought last week. I said to ds on Monday I couldn't understand why we had got through the pots so quickly, so we bought some more. And I got another whoopsied bag today. Also good price red onions at Lidl followed by to large bags of whoopsied white ones at Mr M. Several bags of whoopsied small apples that will go for stewed apple and some in the whoopsied red cabbage. Whoopsied white cabbage that will sit in the fridge for ages for veg or coleslaw, whoopsied carrots, whoopsied parsnips, 2 big bags. Will roast one lot and make curried parsnip soup with the other. I've already got too much to do today.

Mum called and said did I want some frozen fruit as she was having to juggle her freezer rather. I said so was I, but I wasn't going to turn down free food!:D Redcurrants and blackberries are coming I think.

    Right, time for coffee.

((((((Hugs))))) to halfpint - been there a few times and it is devastating, knowing you have done the right and loving thing for your much loved pet helps with the healing.

Off to the dentist later as well, just for scale and polish but my teeth are so sensitive that I am going to take a painkiller as I am a wimp! Good luck to everyone else who is heading for the dentist.

(((hugs))) to Penny pincher, moggins (been there with Dad - you can't help them until they want to help themselves but you can't help loving them), taplady, smoky and anyone else who could use one.

JackieO - yes I felt truly inspired after Obamas speech yesterday and it was lovely to see his families pride. If only we had someone like that in charge over here!

Right I have got dd to the station and walked Penny, now I must get dinner prepped and into the slow cooker (bolognaise and I am going to sneak in lots of grated veg)

Thank you guys soo much for your support.

I've finally dried my eyes...don't think there's much left in there now..well at least for the time being.

I've managed with LO help to pick myself up a bit and get on with doing something...still struggling in the kitchen but I know I'll have to clean up her bed and bowls in a wee while and put them away.

Im sure she's started haunting me already...have heard her collar jangle twice now...or maybe it's just my imagination.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to you...It really helps .
