That's a very impressive piece of financial engineering. You must be one of Martin's best pupils in NI.
And you weren't even surcharged for using a credit card to buy the oil?0 -
Nope, wasn't charged a surcharge either. Booked the oil online on Tuesday night, rang the company on wed to confirm the price and delivery day. They will deliver on friday which gave me a window of 2 days to cancel just in case the price came down.
It's all about playing the game and thanks to Martin and this site the rules are stacked in comsumers favours. If you play by the rules that is :A0 -

Hi, we have ordered oil but did not realise the situation was so bad and now it's not coming to Monday. Is there anywhere in Belfast where I can get a cheap emergency drum to ease our discomfort.0

I see these at a lot of garages with the coal & gas out the front. Our local spar also had some in the shop. Maybe check some garages?Norn Iron club member - 2650 -

Try raising the tank at opposite end to the oil outlet, Just a little (so as not to damage the pipe) and support it with bricks or a piece of wood, should keep you going over the weekend BUT put it back as it was before the oil is deliveredDave0 -
Just had a delivery to fill the tank, expected it to be in the region of 2000-2200 lts; was pleasantly surprised - 174o lts. (I hadn't filled the tank last year as it was too expensive)
Total cost £640 - 36.8 ppl
(This time last year £706 for 1500 lts - 47.1 ppl)
One tip from the driver, they charge different prices depending on the ammount - under 1000 lts it was 39.5 ppl. Most people seem to order 500 or 900 lts; it might be worth checking if your supplier has price bands too.0 -
The OH and I have recently moved into our house and there's way of knowing how much oil is in the tank as there's no gauge on it. Anyone know of any oil tank gauge/monitors that i can get fiitted, where i can buy these and how much they are likely to cost? Thanks0
