You'd get on well with the Supremes - they wore wigs, and would on occasion send them ahead to be "sorted" & have new "doo's" whilst travelling to their next venue
I once worked with a lady who wore wigs, and she had several in differnt stages of the same style, so she could look "new hair-cut", "couple of weeks old hair-cut" and "hair needs cutting"...I never knew until she told me, about 3 1/2 years after I started working with her!
I'm really hoping to be well enough to go and see the V&A exhibition at Blackpool, it's of Mary WIlson and Supremes costumes, has anyone been? Is it worth it?
I generally don't mind who knows about my hair, coz it looks so great. I have the same 'do' in burgundy and in blonde! Makes for an interesting time. What is most interesting is how I was treated out and about without the wig, and now with the burgundy and then different again the blonde! When I wear a new burgundy, people stop me in the street and in shops and ask me what the colour is, or where I get it cut and how fab it looks!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Yes and Yes!!! It's been put on by our Council with the V&A, and it's free, so defo worth the travel. As part of my job I was at the opening with Mary Wilson (and got her autograph). All our department staff were asked to help out & volunteer for invigilation sessions, and I've done 3 now, and it's really interesting - civils rights & black music along with the Motown story & the story of the Supremes.......(and when it goes to Birmingham, you will have to pay to see it) However, if I hear Martin Luther King saying "I have a dream" again, I will scream!!0 -

I didn't ever say that she was violating his human rights. That is not true. She started a thread saying that he wouldn't speak and also said that she doesn't take him out to interact with other children. I suggested groups and societies which could help and aslo enquired how much help she gets from her husband. And I said it was the child's basic right to interact with his peers. Please go and read that thread before you judge me.
Sybil made no mention of the fact that she was upset then but has dragged it up now. I said on the thread that I was worried about her and I maintain that but perhaps I was reading between the lines as her posts reminded me very much of someone I am close to and this caused me concern.
I am sure I am guilty of jumping in with two left feet and to Thriftlady I apologise again. Something touched a raw nerve.:o
But Sybil... Your reaction to me has been unwarranted, unfair and unkind and clearly borne of a grudge you have held against me since I tried to help you before.
As I said, I am a long time lurker on this thread and really enjoyed it in the past. Clearly I am not the right type of erson to post on it and that's fair enough.
Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday everyone.
FWIW I took the time to read your posts and I don't think you have written anything intentionally offensive or hurtful. I do however feel that some of your posts are a little 'brusque'. You seem to say what you think and don't sugar your comments to make them any easier to swallow, so yes, sometimes they may sting a bit, and if you post to someone with health issues with regard to extreme tiredness, depression etc, i can see how they could be taken the wrong way quite easily.
I do believe OS is about cutting out uneccessary nonsense, but while i don't believe we can gauge every possible reaction to what we write before we click 'post reply', i do believe there is room for a little softening of the edges of what is being said so as to make them more palatable to those who read what we write.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Reverbe - just read your post on Sunday's thread about the Hugh book, or not Hugh book in fact! I shall be a good OSer and go find it in the library!
Aussie - what a lovely post about your mum, it really did bring a lump to my throat. I only wish that I had that sort of relationship with my mother, but I'm doing my damnedess (is that a real word, looks funny!) to ensure that my relationship with my children is as good as we can make it.
Sybil - I was only just thinking as I read your post about going out with LB, just how far you've come, taking him anywhere used to be such a traumatic thing for you, whereas now, whilst you may feel anxious, you just get on and do it! Toddlers once a week is fine, I loved it as I got to see other adults (kids dad worked away or long hours, no friends with kids), but it doesn't suit everyone, but I'm sure LB is in no way harmed by not going to more groups or more frequently. Once he is old enough for nursery or pre school I'm sure that you will happily wave him off, and I'm sure your DH will realise that it will be good for LB, and also for you to have a break from him! As for his speech, I think I've said before my dd1 spoke late, she had no need to talk as her big bro interpreted for her, actually she did everything late, the day we were due to visit a consultant cos she didn't even attempt to walk or even stand much for that matter, she hopped up and ran across the room, I could've strangled her for putting me through so much worry - she was almost 19 months then! Speech will come when he is ready, and then you will be wishing for earplugs!
Lamewolf - nice to see you posting again, try not to kill Mr LW, forgetting to turn the washing machine on does require some penance though lol!
Purple - good luck with the costume and with your dress and all your other jobs! Can we see some pics when you've finished - making the outfits that is, not when you've washed up lol!
Thriftlady - just been thinking about you as I was moving my sc out to the utility and emptying dough out of my bm! I love them, but I've never tried to make omlettes in the sc, so hope you won't make me stand in the corner!
Whilst pottering and tidying the kitchen I found some more seeds tucked away, this is my year to turn in Barbara Good!
I've also tried to sort out the books on the landing and on the shelves in my bedroom, I swear they multiply unaided, trouble is that if I make them look neat and tidy they won't all fit back! Argh!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Can I be cheeky and ask where you get them? Is there a website I can visit? I have a genuine reason for asking; my lupus is making my hair fall out at an alarming rate, and I want to look into the possibility of wigs before it becomes an urgent matter IYSWIM.
I've sent you a PM LW. I wouldn't buy from an internet site until I had been and tried stuff on, the fit of everything is so different. Things don't look like you imagine or on the picture. They even vary from piece to piece...the same style and colour can be made slightly (or significantly!) www.namebrandwigs.com will give you an idea of styles.
In order to be MS, there's a special thing you have to get the company to write on the outside of the parcel from the states, if that's where you get them from, if it's a medical exemption.
http://www.alopeciaonline.org.uk/forum/default.asp is a useful website for support.
I'm happy to answer questions etc, but would be best to do this prob by PM."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Katholicos - Just wanted to say well done to you for getting on the Wii Fit. I can only manage about 10 minutes before dropping dead and I am in fairly good shape, so for you to do 20 is quite an acheivement! We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0
