I like my HA house, I'd rather live here than be saddled with a lifetime of debt and in times like they are have the possibilty of loosing my house.Or unlucky depending on what way you look at it. You couldn't pay me to move into a council home.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0

 I agree.
But I think it depends a lot on the type of house and area it is in.
Ours is one of 3 (spread out) on a 'private' estate so nobody would know it is a HA house unless we told them!0

You 2 are obviously not living next door to some smack heads then hence you have the opinions you do.
Not everyone is so 'lucky' though.
Astons...Mortgage is a 25yr term so not a lifetime, it is also regarded as an investment, i.e your children stand to gain from its value when you pop your cloggs. Additionally after 25yrs there are no further payments, you live mortgage and rent free.
Living in council accomodation all your life you could be paying rent for 59yrs+ 18-77 (average age of death)
It's okay if the tax payer pays it for you i suppose but 59yrs rental vs 25yrs of a mortgage is what you are comparing here.
It definitely depends on where you are homed from the council as to what opinion you'll have.
I dont need to tell you there are some hellhole estates that make Beirut look like good.0

I don't mean to be rude, but your posts are coming across quite childish now. (Please look at my earlier posts I am on the side of people claiming benefits for genuine reasons)
Yes and so am i .:rolleyes:It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.0

            jennie09,
I haven't read the whole thread (and can't really be bothered to), but I would echo what others have said. You are doing yourself no favours by a) making childish comments, and b) posting things that make absolutely no sense.
Constructive feedback - step away from the keyboard, calm down and don't take things so personally. When you do post, you are likely to come across better if you read what you have written before actually clicking to submit.Gone ... or have I?0
