Had a laugh at this thread. I'm sure if any women saw they would have just felt embarrassed for you and wouldn't be laughing at all.

Our pe teacher got so fed up with excuses not to do swimming lessons she said no-one would be excused even for time of the month! One girl asked if she would want proof

Another note: was in boots today and they have offers on branded towels (bodyform and Always) 2 packs for £2 - in case that helps anyone ;)

Same here - if I knew I'd be finished with them in a couple of years, I'd do nothing, but if I'm still having periods in 7 years or so, I'd pop to the GP. Must say I expected that once I turned 45 that'd be it: no more Bullets or Aeroplane Stickers (aka tampons and pads with wings!). I'm 48 in a couple of weeks and they're now more regular than ever. Bah!
  • Hey don't stress! It happens to us all at the best (or depending on the way you look at it, the worst) of times!

I went to an all girls' High school - the unform was a very unpractical white dress! (lurvly for us curvier girls!). We were not allowed to tie our even whiter cardigan around our waist, or risk punishment!, but if you did you were more than likely hiding a "whoops".

I fainted in assembly at school one day because of the heat, and came too in a pool of blood from my knee's to my belly button with 760 faces from the first year to the last staring down at me! I couldn't have cared how much my head hurt from the fall, or how ill I felt... I just remembered wanting the floor to swallow me up! Nevertheless, I got out of writing an exam but landed up spending the rest of the day in the sick room with a paramedic and the school nurse and they failed me for not writing my exam!!

I think we have all had a mortifying moment like that, it's so embarrasing at the time. My peiods have always been heavy and a few times I know it has stained.
My periods have lightened considerably since I had the contraceptive inserted in my arm which lasts 3 years. It was a most welcome side effect.

I have the Mirena coil and haven't had any periods for the 7 yrs I've had it. It' s brilliant and I highly recommend it.

However, suffered many embarrasing situations, especially at school as a teenager. Try not to worry, we have all been there at some point in our lives and like others, I don't suppose anyone noticed and if they did, they aren't likely to mention it in case they embarrass you.

Try as she might my GP couldn't even get the "sound" (to find out the depth of my womb or something) in through my cervix  !!

I was hoping to have a Mirena coil fitted instead of being sterilised. All a distant memory now, I have faded scars  .

  • I've got 2 stories that still make me want to curl up in a ball and die of embarassment.

I came on my first ever period the morning of the school swimming gala and my mum had already left for work when I realised so there was no getting out of it. I rummaged through my mums drawers for a tampon and put that in somehow (wasn't even an applicator one, how the hell did I do that first time!) and forgot about it. I was my forms captain and after 4 hours of swimming and sitting round in a swimming costume my form had won so I had to go up in front of the whole year to collect the trophy. After that we went straight to the changing rooms and I noticed a long red line all the way down my leg. I think I cried myself to sleep that night thinking about how everyone must have seen! Though a few years afterwards when I mentioned it to my friends none of them could remember ever noticing it. dDoesn't make me feel less embarassed about it though!

The other involes a boy I'd been in love with for months (and still am!), a randomly occurring period and white sheets. What boy has white sheets?!
I couldn't face him for months! I've only recently been able to talk to him again nearly 2 years later.

    Periods are crap aren't they?!

This has happened to me too,not on a school run yet though. I was on holiday in Egypt..day trip to Cairo...was on a bus on the way to the pyramids when I felt a sudden gushing and I knew instantly what it was :o I was wearing cream linen trousers!!! It must have looked so comical,me getting off the bus trying to hide the back of my trousers. I found a toilet straight away to check the damage and sure enough...there was a huuuuge bright red stain going from front to back   I shoved aload of loo roll in my knickers and carried on awkwardly. I was forever tugging my top down to try cover my bum and I refused point blank to attempt getting on a camel :rotfl:

When we returned back at our hotel I tried washing the blood out of my trousers but it was too late, had stained really bad. So I left them soaking in the shower tray and went out. When we returned, the trousers had been wrung out by the male cleaner and hung over the towel rail to dry :o    :rotfl: can lol about it now but my god I was sooooo embarrased and tried my best to avoid that cleaner for the rest of the holiday.
love my little man he is amazing :j
