omg I have just nearly peed myself laughing, thank you to all posters.
I do have accidents like the rest of you,so embarrasing but surely others understand now it can happen to you or me at anytime.................beware!
also thinking of getting a moon cup as I threw the last one away & give it another try,but I have such heavy periods i would worry incase it made my embarrasing situation worse,at the present time i use pads & tampons
Trim the stalk!!!!! Seriously the first time I used it I was in agony! Then my mum told me that she had cut the stalk off hers and it was fine. I was a bit worried about not being able to remove it but I cut it bit by bit and tried it in between. Also like krystal says wear pads too at first until your confident you won't leak. Even if you wear pads for the first day or two it still works out much cheaper in the long run!0 -

Totally agree, - if you trim the stalk it's much more comfortable.
Wear a pad until you're confident in just using the mooncup. Honestly I don't know why I waited so long to get one! Tampons are uncomfortable (pelvic muscles push them out too often), pads feel awful, mooncups just seem to work much better. If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!0 -
I'm really nervous about the Mooncup, and haven't invested in one. I suspect I'd do with it, what I did with the mamasure ~ stick it in my knicker drawer and look at it from time to time.
I use double night time pads for the first two days of my period, otherwise I know I'll leak. During those 2 heavy days, I change ever hour or so.
I'm almost 40, and following as couple of horrifying incidents at school, resulting in laughter and !!!!!ing from the not nice girls, I still worry every single month about it. I hope I have an early menopause.I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
ooo now that is funny.
I've been in queues and the sweet dear old lady in front has farted, i heard it, unfortunately i smelt it and she turns around and smiles sweetly.
An old man did that to me the other day. in the bank as well so it was soooo quiet and he did it so loud!! everyone heard him and kinda 'stepped away' slowly!!! a few seconds later and the stink came. I was gagging. Held my bank passbook to my nose.
Went down to HSBC after to enquire about opening an ISA online so I don't have to stand in queue's0 -

Seriously, I have to ask as I thought about these and looked on their site, I apologise if it is a little too graphic but I just don't inderstand them... where does it store the blood? and how do you empty it? doesn't it make a mess everywhere??0 -

I was standing over the toilet being sick, and OH was standing behind me rubbing my back and holding my upright (I had been vomiting for hours at this point and he was very worried), I wasn't wearing any clothes - nuff said??? :rotfl:0 -
In the 'cup' part, and you just pour it down the loo... No mess and a lot easier to deal with than tampons!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

AFAIK it's advised to sterilise the Mooncup before the first use anyway, and also between periods.I remember when i worked in boots and in the stock room i saw the moon cups so i took it out of the box and had a good look at it, it seemed really floppy to me, like if i took it out the blood would go everywhere?
but my advice is to wash the mooncup before use, incase poeple like me got it out for a bit of curiosity!
Another Mooncup convert here - it's brilliant! :T0 -

You will be astonished to learn just how little blood we lose. I know it looks like an ocean when you have a leak/flood .... but it's really a tiny amount. I think I read 30-50ml somewhere .....?
50 ml would be ONLY 10 teaspoons!Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

Mooncup doesn't work for everyone. Mine is full and overflowing after 20 minutes!! The super extra plus lillets hold more fluid (I've experimented) Those and a night time pad (the thick ones) last me an hour or so.
Seeing gynae next week and hoping for endometrial ablation or hysterectomy.
Sometimes being female is rubbish
