    Hi XXXX,

OK, so, what EXACTLY are they demanding payment for? Are you behind with your payments and is this what the £150 was about? Did you not have a direct debit set up?

Are you disputing with them that you owe different amounts to what they are chasing you for? Have you got invoices for those amounts? They wouldn't just think of an amount of the top of their head to charge you, it must be for something specific.

If the phone charges up ok that's good. If you put a non voda sim in it it probalby wouldn't work unless you got it unlocked and there's plenty of threads on this forum as to how to get it unlocked.

Can you answer my question as to how long this has been going on for please?

They wouldn't just cut you off willy nilly without spending considerable time liaising with you if there were payment arrears. If you sorted out a 'promise to pay' with them it is unlikely they would have cut you off completely, total disconnection is always a very last resort.

Have they sent your case over to a collections agency now?

    It started a year ago.

Did you write into VF with your complaint? I re-read your original post which said you had complained to no avail? Obviously I only know your side of the story, but what did they say when you complained?
Then I took it up to the Otelo, it took months still no avail. Apparently it was not enough to put a stop on Voda-evil's demand. I just received another letter from them demanding payment again. The collection team will be out again if I do not comply withing 14 days. What a 'wonderful' letter to receive in a new year.

    Hi XXX

Who did you address the letter of complaint to? What you received back was a 'holding letter', this would just be an acknowledgement of your complaint so you know it's being looked at. Now this would be dealt with by a different dept. not the credit controller for your account. The letters coming out from them are standard, system-generated ones.

You should have had a response from whoever you complained in writing to even if it might not be the answer you were expecting.

It was a complete nothingness between the acknowledgement and payment demand. There was never a letter explaining what the charges for but a gross amount.

I have to write them a letter now before their deadline, not sure what I should write or do from here. Very frustrating and depressing.

thanks for coming back to me XXXX

    Ok, write to the following

    Customer Relations Manager
    vodafone Ltd
    Babbage House
    The Connection
    Newbury
    Rg14 2FN

Write down everything that's happened quoting either your account or mobile number. Keep it factual and try to avoid getting angry yet put your point across in that you feel disappointed in the way you feel they've treated you.

Explain that you wrote in but only every received a holding letter.

Ask them to look at this for you.

Please will you keep me updated?

Yeah, HQ is made up of lots of buildings at The Connection. You may have seen it on tv when HRH visited just before Christmas? Post does go astray from there.

If you are working there, you seems to be the only nice person so far, I wish you could handle my case. :D

Anyway, I managed to write them a letter just to honestly express what I thought, and asked her to kindly look into the matter for me. Unfortunately the reply I got is again disappointing. 'As you had taken the matter to Otelo and thay had independently reviewed the matter I am unable to reopen and review the case as the issue has been fully followed in line with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Scheme.'

However Otelo may have looked into the matter but did not provide any solution as Alternative Dispute Resolution. Basically they agreed whatever Vodafone said, I have now lost faith almost completely.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/11/10/phones4u_ofcom

After investigation Ofcom recently concluded that Phones4U had concocted terms and conditions that were illegal. I believe Phones4U is Vodafone's largest selling agent in UK, I trust these are significant findings. However, 'Ofcom's mandate is to protect consumers, not issue punishments' While such rogue traders do not get punished for what they had done, I am not sure how countless of badly-effected consumers could be protected. I wish there was someone somewhere could truly protect consumers like me.

Hmnn, that is not good xxxx

I have no knowledge of Otelo since none of my customers would need to get that far since I make sure they are all happy. I know this doesn't help you right now. I wish I knew more about this so I could look.

Is there any hope of going back to these Otelo people as intermediaries?
