@Superdamo - just now the information I have is the same as samknows.co.uk which doesnt look as though Kettering is on of the next exchanges to be unbundled. When a date is agreed, say 31/10, often this gets put back or numerous reasons, and as such with Kettering not on the list of immediate ones, I doubt it will be put on list and enabled in a short space of time. Sorry

@eco21 - O2 own BeThere - are the two companies running completely separately in terms of customer service (I believe Be have their CS in Bulgaria and O2 in the uk)

Do decisions regarding unbundling come direct from O2? do Be have any influence on this

I also read if you want to switch from Be to O2 you don't need to give 3 months notice - is this true? is it the same the other way round?

Are the two companies likely to be made into one in the future?

If I sign up for a high package and don't get the highest speeds due to distance etc. can I downgrade to 8mbit?

Is the difference in max speed - 24mbit vs 20mbit due to the fact that Be allow interleaving/fastpath changes?

also in regards to throttling I know people who have downloaded several hundreds of gb's on O2/Be and haven't had any issues - they do have a Fair Usage Policy but it doesn't appear to have been invoked

Also they spent a lot of time upgrading the network a few months ago afaik so they could maintain quality of service and not have to throttle

Hi, i am similar, my RFS date was the 31/10, then 30/11, now it is supposed to be the end of Jan.

Any update on the date for unbundling?

My exchange is ST ANDREWS (Fife) area code 01334. Postcode KY16

dates seem to cover much of the REAL central belt, Tayside Angus & Fife
exchanges, samknows - 6 out of 8 Dundee exchanges being unbundled on the same date have all changed 3 times, now 31/1

only 16% ( 173 ) of Scotland's 1070 exchanges are LLU'd - thats the lowest region rate for the UK, I hope o2 start where most have failed, Talk Talk & Sky really are not options for most & thats whom has exchange who'red themselves up here - bundled with calls or tv, bleh....
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Eco can you answer this one.

I signed up for the standard broadband last month, now that O2 have the special offer for the premium package i.e 3mth free plus better speed, could I upgrade to this & still get the 3mth free?

I am also getting cash back from Quidco, would it affect this?

    Thanks

@45678 - The money that was spent in buying Be* was not for their customers. More the hardware and software solutions. The CS are completely seperate and I don't believe they will merge into the one company. With regard to who makes the unbundling decisions I do not know. I would assume input from both would dictate this. Yes when moving to O2 you do not need to give 3 months notice. I am not sure going the other way. With O2 offering similar same for cheaper it doesn't really happen. When you sign up you will be told the speed that you should get. This is accurate so it should allow you to make an informed decision - O2 do regularly check packages to speed and adjust customers package to suit the speed available. O2 doesn't allow for interleaving to be turned off - the 20Mb can actually be breached. I know a guy lives next door to the exchange and syncs at 22Mb consistently. I haven't heard of anyone who has been affected by over downloading. I rhink if you were seriously affecting others in the exchange you would be reprimanded but I have people with terabytes of downloads.

@diamonds - ad such all I have is what is known in samknows. So I don't live in the REAL central belt lo

l@moneysaver - I do not think you can change to take advantage. Sorry. I didn't even know about this promotion was off before christmas. Also if you did think quidco would be lost for sure. Unless phone up and try and get 3 months credit applied to account.

I have signed up to o2 Broadband today online as I have an o2 mobile phone. Ive done it through Quidco to get the cashback too. How long can I expect to wait for the modem and to be up and running with o2? My present provider (Supanet) have took my 30 day notice as from today and are sending me my MAC code within the next few days so I hope o2 will do it within this 30 days.

Also, do I have to send a formal letter to Supanet to say Im cancelling or will my phone conversation do?

^ the migration should take about 10 days after passing the MAC (not mac code :( ) to O2. Your MAC (from supanet) should be with you within 5 days (them's the rules) but many ISPs issue them within the hour.
The request of a MAC is taken by many, if not all, ISPs as notice, though if the MAC isn't used the service should continue.
It can't do any harm giving your notice in writing, and canceling the DD once the final payment has been taken

The St Andrews exchange only has Talk Talk at the moment, Sky is a strange one, considering the customer base they have as a TV outfit, i am surprised they don't have more exchanges unbundled.
