But as you're 17 you may qualify, but don't think you'll get an open card as credit can only be given to over 18's (someone will clarify) so i'd have thought you'd get the full authorisation version, i.e. it checks before allowing each purchase and you can't use it at tesco pumps, on a plane and places that are 'offline' as such. It would simply decline as it must get authorised before it will let you spend.
Starting driving next month so i'd want to use it at tesco! lol
Although i've used solo in tesco's petrol station kiosk before.0 -

Well yea but then tesco changed last year sometime, I am unsure why but I know myself cos I only had electron back then and had to go into store a few times. The reason you need a full card is cos tesco pay at pump only pre authorise a £1 and then say maximum fuel £59. This is what used to be called a floor limit. i.e. the amount you can spend before it gets authorised.
Tesco now advertise, no solo/electron at pay at pumps.

Hello, could some one tell me my Solo / Maestro debit card expires in September does this mean i will get a visa debit card then as it says on there siteThe new Visa Debit Card is given to those customers who have shown recurring purchases with the debit card over a six month consecutive period The customers selected for this card make at least $1,000.00 pesos of purchases with their Visa Electron Debit Card and are customers who have better than average balances in their accounts.0

Yes mate ring and say you lost it - then you'll get a new one. Remember to take out enough dosh before you report it lost - so pointless doing it a day before pay day LOL2010 - year of the troll

Has anybody activated their new HSBC visa debit card via a cash machine? Does it have to be a HSBC machine or will any banks' machine work?
Thanks0 -
Hi
I have a student account with HSBC and have got a visa debit card. There is no cheque guarantee on the back. Does this mean I have a full authorisation card as in the equivalent of the old solo?
I did what never-in-doubt suggested and ordered a PIN advice but it doesnt mention anything on there about what sort of card it is.
Thanks.0
