I don't want things back to normal - I could get used to this lady of leisure thing!!

Welcome Danksshady! Nesssie - sorry to hear about your friends loss - there seems to be so many people around at the moment who are going through the same. It seems to be worse this year for some reason.

Freezing cold here still - in fact as we're out this evening I turned up the output on the heater in the front room earlier - might as well have the heat when we're in!

We've done quite well this afternoon anyway - the rolls are just rising prior to going in the oven, I've made two birthday cards and some more of the holes are drilled in the spare room. I've also transferred the freezer inventory list to the computer - no excuse not keeing it up to date now! :T

    Have a good evening everyone!

  • Good Evening Everyone

I actually ended up have a lovely day with the in laws, they took us for a carvery which was yum and then for dessert I had apple pie and custard, mmm!

I have cooked up a bollogneise sauce and done another load of washing but thats about all I've managed today thats a bit dissappointing really as it's only my 3rd OS day, I would have liked to have achieved a little bit more!

On a strange, none old style point...my nose hurts! lol! I don't know if I've bumped it or something but it feels really sore and achey across the bridge, especially when I touch it. Hope that will feel better soon!

DP starts his new job tomorrow after a month of being out of work...he has to work 12 hours tomorrow and then thereafter it will be 7.5 hours a day. I just hope he gets on ok and that it lasts a while as it is only a temporary contract.

I'm back at work too, 7-3.30 tomorrow, really not looking forward to it and am feeling quite gloomy :(

Anyway...hugs to those in need or even if you just want one!

    xxx

Have a busy day today !

Mum had the kids overnight - the last time since my dad starts his treatment tomorrow. Was supposed to go there for breakfast but had to cancel as Dad has had sickness and the runs - hope this doesn't stop his radiotherapy tomorrow.

Anyway, DH made a big pot of lentil soup and peeled the potatoes for stovies to use up the left over roast beef. Also defrosted and cooked some rhubarb that was in the freezer. Luckily for us we'd done all that as my friends heating has broken down so we ended up with her and hubby and 2 kids for tea. They were most impressed by our meal especially the rhubarb crumble !

Had to buy milk today so need to update my signature. Off to look through the freezer for tea tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a good day.
So little money - so much time

    Evening all
Just spent an entertaining few hours with DS, He thouroughly enjoyed his roast lamb & took the trifle home as he was too full to eat it. He's decided he prefers living alone & now his flatmate has moved out he's sorted out all the bills for his flat, changed his council tax to single occupancy & decided not to get a TV, but to read lot more instead. He was given some books for Christmas & he had a look through my book shelves & much to his surprise found quite a few books to his taste.
    Have a good evening everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Hello all :hello: So many new faces! Welcome :T

I have had a busy few days so have not had chance to post too much. Dsis is here and I have cooked up a storm - Twinks, lasagne and shepherds pie, not to mention tonights tea of pork in a cream & garlic sauce with mash, peas and carrots.

I hope Benny goes on okay tomorrow and I hope Tilly continues well

*hugs* for those that want them and I hope all have a good evening
  • Am in Midlands too... it did snow for a while!

I made my own pasta today with a simple tomato sauce. It was blooming delicious. I love it when OS actually feels luxurious yet you know you hardly spent any money on it:
    Pasta
    500gr flour
    5 eggs
    1teaspoon salt

    Tomato sauce
    1 onion
    2 gloves of garlic
some tamari, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper and dried basil
    can of plum tomatoes
all pureed up to make a smooth sauce

And it actually is enough for tomorrow's lunch too!

My daughter who is 2, was going: Oh yummy, yummy! And dh was offering me his hand in marriage, shame we are already married...

I love days like this, when people find out that I meal plan, scrap the pennies etc they always think we must eat nothing but baked beans and jacket spuds (although I do like them), lol, I wish they could have seen our dinner today!

We've been out today to the Birmingham Art Gallery, was nice, dd loved it, we loved it, it's free, parking at the meter around Colmore Road is free on a Sunday which was a bonus.

Hope everyone has had a lovely, if cold, Sunday (no snow here……… yet)
Delicious lamb shank for dinner today and the 39p Maris Piper potatoes from Aldi made lovely roasties - thanks for reminder Justpeyton4now. Although instead of just buying veg a polo neck jumper “fell into” my trolley! Ski wear range was new in today, lots of warm things at excellent prices.
    Emptied the ironing basket:T
Diva – our cats are sending moggie hugs to Treacle, also to Tilly, to Aussiegirl’s Benny and other poorly pets.
Hermione – hope you got your heating sorted out, yes, prices sound like highway robbery.
Liberty – good luck with your stopping smoking, you can do it, it is not easy but it is possible.
I mentioned the other day I had knitted some of the mug warmers, more as a fun thing than anything (going to put one in birthday gifts with a “can you guess what this is?” note). Used one today – amazingly they work!!
Welcome to the new posters (and good luck with the interview Karriebee), hugs to those who need them and commiserations to those who are returning to work after their Christmas break.
  • We got the shopping done we needed to this morning. After we got home I fixed some scrambled eggs on toast for our lunch.

Tea tonight was a roasted pork shoulder with gravy, jacket potato for DH, sweet potato for me, steamed sprouts and hot mini baguettes. It turned out very nice. Packaged up 2 freezer bags of leftover pork. One for sweet and sour and one for pork bbq sandwiches for later this month.

I got my square sausage made and it's sliced, wrapped and frozen now. DH is hinting he'd like some soon. :rotfl: I also made up two meatloafs and have frozen them. I got some of the disposable foil pans with the lids. I know it's not really OS but they're a good size for the 2 of us and if I'm careful, I can wash and use again. ;)

I've had a slight headache all day that just won't leave. Think I'm going to make an early night of it.

    Hugs to all :grouphug:
