Good morning all,
We have rain here. That very fine rain. The oddest thing is that the rain doesn't feature on any of the weather forecasts for this area. It's been raining for a few hours, so usually somebody has noticed and updated the forecast by now. It says it's going to be -5 here next week. I am hoping that as they have the rain wrong, they've also made an oopsy on the temperatures.
I have a bit of a sore throat again this morning, but as my sinuses are giving me gip, I'm hoping that it's just that and not another cold.
Not much to do for me today, just some ironing and a hoover round upstairs. We made a shortbread forest yesterday, with shortbread stars and a shortbread moon amongst other things, so I think I'm due a day off today :rotfl:
Take care all of you.0

It should be gorgeous in port, my Mum's done it a few times and it was always really yummy. Off the subject but she also did beef in stout & pork in cider - also yummy :T Enjoy your reading afternoon. Don't either of you do much just make the most of child free time - as I'm sure you do with twins 0 0

            Morning Everyone
My Family seem to be against this whole OS thing, yesterday it was my mum interupting my plans with her shopping trip today it is the 'in laws' (dp's parents), they rang about an hour ago and invited themselves over for the day but said they would take us out for lunch. I am not complaining really, it will be lovely to see them and we get a nice meal out thrown in, it just disrupts my plans thats all.
I was going to do some batch cooking today but now that will have to wait, I will do some tonight after they have gone home and will have to try to fit the rest in before/after work one day.
I feel very gloomy about going back to work tomorrow, back to the pressure and stress I am determined to enjoy my last day of freedom today though and am looking forward to going to see DP's fave band play on Friday (I bought him the tickets as an early birthday present as it's his bday on the 23rd) I am determined to enjoy my last day of freedom today though and am looking forward to going to see DP's fave band play on Friday (I bought him the tickets as an early birthday present as it's his bday on the 23rd)
I've been up just over 1 hour and have
Put on the WM and the TD
Took the bin out and the recycling out for collection tomorrow
Given the bathroom a quick clean
Put away last nights pots and given the kitchen a quick wipe down
I now think I should probably go and get dressed as the In laws will be here about 12.
Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

            Hi all
Have not kept a note of the thread, so huges to those in need, congrats etc
Have been off sick since Wed with this nasty cold-flu thing that is going round - my work have a policy that you don't get paid for the first 3 days you are ill, so that is me 3 days down this week  NYD was triple time as well. Oh well, I know I did the right thing not going in, as felt awful.
Went to Mr T yesterday and the shelves were literally empty. I couldn't believe it - surely by the 3rd the supply chain is back to normal. So, need to go to Morrisons and finish the shopping
Lots of other plans for today, including ironing, making rocky road/flapjacks and batch cooking.
Right, best on with it all!
Oh - I got a late Xmas present yesterday - an electric blanket How did I live without it????? I can see myself spending a lot more time in bed now How did I live without it????? Morning all, we awoke this morning to frost inside the house. The central heating failed. No hot water and no heat!!! Freezing cold.
Called Landlord he said get one of those national emergency numbers to come out and he will reimburse us the cost! 10 phone calls later someone quite local is coming out, just called to say he is on his way. £75 per hour but that is half what some of the nationals were charging. All over the ads is says no call out charge then they tell you it is £130 + VAT! that is per hour or part thereof. They do not need a call out charge but the do need a horse a gun and mask = highway robbery is at least obvious.
Going to have roast today - will help keep us warm with the oven on. Had porridge this morning and scrambled egg on toast seems good for lunch - suggested by another poster.
I am freezing cold as this is the coldest room in the house, going back under the blanket in the front room now.
Love and Hugs to all in need.

Morning everyone.... glad to hear that I'm not the only one whose plans are out of the window! Got to Mr M's for bananas and a couple of other bits and spent £40, but I did come home with a huge haul of whoopsied heap of fruit and veg. Now changed the freezer fishing plan for a meal into one for a large turkey curry. Bought a large turkey leg.
Carrots whooopsied, so carrot and coriander soup, stock from the freezer. Half price Flora buttery, so will have to find some freezer space from somewhere. I don't normally have freezer space issues, but have such a huge stash of ready meals in now, that I'm struggling. Also started to buy the big 6 pts milk and dividing for the freezer. Hoping we will buy cheaper and waste less like that.
Lemons were YS as well, got a bag of 24 smallish ones for 29p. will make some lemon curd and poss juice some for the freezer. Already have enough 'ice and slice' in the freezer. Got some Longley farm jersey cream so will make some ice cream for tea. Anyone got the ultimate chocolate ice cream recipe?
have a great dayeveryone. Last day before I go back to work, never mind! had a good Christmas."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Morning all................((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))) if you ned one.
Lousy night, I was awake drinking tea and reading till 3am, then slept in. 10am before I opened my eyes.
OH had 3 of his dd's yesterday........hey ho........so I was able to sit in his electric relaxer chair and watch a programme on TV........for half an hour.
Its very grey again this morning, makes me feel so depressed when its like this, also the computer is plaing silly b's again will not let me log in to some of the blogs I visit to leave a comment.......I have ordered a portable hard drive, it is coming tomorrow, between 7am and 5 pm!!!!! so no trips out tomorrow. I had a bad exprience earlier this year when my hard disc failed and I lost a load of stuff, then when I got my lap top back I got a message saying that the windows I was running was not a valid copy......thankfully someone on the techie board told be how to validate it, but although I have a lot of stuff on CD's my embroidery designs and a copy of my master disc are going on the new HD.
Roast chicken tonight, using the big oven, first time for ages, need to make a cake and also a crumble, so can do them whilst the chicken is cooking. I have the chicken out of the fridge comin up to room temp. I amnot sure if its me, but it seems to cook better if its not too cold when I put it in the oven. Carrots, cauli ,parsnip and roast spud, with apple and blackberry crumble for afters....should keep the wolf from the door.
Thinking about the allotment, not sure if OH is going to be able to do much, and its too big for me to manage on my own, so I think I am going to cover 3 beds with black plastic and let them lie fallow this year. We do not have room here to start seeds off so will be buying the number of plants I want, with the exception of things like lettuce carrots etc which can be sown straight into the soil when it warms up a bit. I also need to sort out what seed potato's I need last year 11 second early seed potato's gave us 110lbs of spuds which I am just using the last of now..........
Need to get OH out for a short walk, not sure how cold it is, think there was a heavy frost again last night......will see when we get out.
No other plans for today...........
Quick PS for purple Ivy. I used to buy the big 6L bottles of milk........I had a couple of jugs that held 2L each I used to take some of the milk out and put it in a jug to use and then froze the rest in the container, its easier if you have a chest freezer!!! The trick is remembering to take the frozen milk out before you want to use it, allow it to deforst over night, give it a shake to re-dsitribute the cream, although I used to freeze semi skimmed, do not have to shake it then, very little cream in it.
Now I buy Tesco value long life milk, I do not have the chest freezer any longer.......Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0

Oh Hermoine you poor things. Our boiler had a period of breaking down (5 pumps in 6 months on a brand new boiler!) and it was always in the winter when it was frosty & cold. I sympathise. We found that by keeping moving as much as possible, wearing fleeces in the house & using blankets we could keep warm! We once waited 6 days without heat & hot water for the council to come out. We've since invested in a Calor gas heater that we've not had to use yet but I'm glad we've got it. Hope they fix it soon for you.0
