I use a Mac. Main reason for my decision for moving from Windows to Mac has been the simplicity of the ilife suite that comes with it and also OSX in general. I also purchase my music via iTunes so iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto. Also iWork, I find is a excellent non-bloated replacement for office.

Add to the fact that I can, if need be, run Windows on my Mac there's no reason for me to get a windows only machine.

Ok, those mice do look better.

Apple have cornered the market for people with more money and prepared to pay for something different and stand out. I see my PC as a functional tool and don't need it made out of a solid piece of aluminum and oozing style.

it's not i paid for something that stands out,

I paid for it because it works. Like i stated in a earlier post,

Why doesn't my dads brand new Acer laptop play DVD's on media player without errors.

its because these companies throw the machines together and and bundle lots of Cr*p software trials on it they don't test if this conflicts with that, and end up with a poorly produced machine

I personally hated the messy UI - I've got a screen, so fill it; i don't want lots of windows floating around.

You can get the windows to fill the screen if you know how and its quite simple.;)
Apple stuff is well made. But, with electrical equipment that is out of date within 2-3 years?

    Such as?

Ok.. when i buy a PC, i know i'm going to have to strip out the bundled software, replace the firewall and virus killer etc.. but i'm so use to it, it doesn't bother me.

When my PC gives me an error, i vaguely understand it. When a mac goes all 'grey screen' on me during boot up ; i've no idea what it's up to.

My next computer is going to be a laptop with windows installed. It will cost under £400. Can I buy a Mac laptop at that price?

I used a lot of Apple powerbooks, the ones with the nice aluminium cases. They had a nasty habit of scratching on the corners where i rested my arms and i ended up having to put electrical insulation tape down to stop the electric shocks..

Windows - the hardware is cheaper, the software more familiar
I also dabble with Ubuntu Linux, but it is too command line orientated for me

no sound then some error message didn't really look into it much just got rid

    Vista basic maybe ???
  • I'd bank on you not having an MPEG-2 Decoder on the computer in question, therefore it was unable to playback DVDs..
