No. Just press the eject button on the keyboard

yes and no, you can drag it, click the little eject icon next to the disc in the finder window, or you press the eject button on your keyboard, depends which way you find quickest..

That's true up to a point, but PCs of the same build quality as a Mac have not substantially dropped in price. If you want quality, you have to pay for it. As it is, the Mac Mini costs less than £400, and I'm yet to see a PC with the same build quality at that price.

Make a podcast? Record a song? Create a DVD slideshow? Edit a movie?

I already posted about how installing/uninstalling software is a lot easier. There are many many things which are.

The point about price is that having an ope architecture has led to competition and lower prices. How much would entry level PC be nowadays if IBM were the only peopel making them. I suspect you wouldn't be able t get a laptop for £300. The top end machines available today would also be far more expensive. Apples have only really been price competitive since they started sharing the same basic hardware as PCs.

Creating a DVD slideso and editting video is extremely easy in Vista. No idea about Podcast or recording songs as it's not soemthing that interests me

No, all Macs come with a four button mouse with a 360 degree scroll ball.

So what are you saying? That Apple should release cheaper, more poorly made products?

What makes it easier on a Mac is how all the products integrate with each other, right out of the box.

For once I agree with Steve Jobs...

Poor Apple. Denied your perception, wisdom, foresight and decision-making ability, Apple has had to flounder along with only that dimwit Steve Jobs to guide it from penury to having a mere $26 billion in the bank, year-on-year doubling of its sales and no corporate debt.

Just think how much better off Apple would be, now, if it had had, instead, the inestimable benefit of your leadership, your vision and your disagreement with all (but one) of Steve Jobs' decisions.

Where were you when Apple needed you so badly?

    :)

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

  • Ok, those mice do look better.

I did like having access to a Unix command line prompt on the Mac.. but really, i don't see the great need. I personally hated the messy UI - I've got a screen, so fill it; i don't want lots of windows floating around.

There's also considerably more free software for Windows, due to the larger market base.

Apple stuff is well made. But, with electrical equipment that is out of date within 2-3 years, how well made to you need to make things? My old plastic cased Dell laptop took a hell of a beating but kept on functioning for 2 years before work upgraded it for me.

Apple have cornered the market for people with more money and prepared to pay for something different and stand out. I see my PC as a functional tool and don't need it made out of a solid piece of aluminum and oozing style.
  • Use Windows for home, work and play. No point (for me) in using anything else.

Unfortunately I was busy. I agree entirely that he has done an excellent job in turning Apple around. From what I can remember they stood a real risk of going under until they got him back in. However on a personal level I still think he's an annoying, smug !!!!!!. Perhaps if I met him I'd change my opinion but I can only go on what I've seen in the media.

By the way Marty, yes I think Apple should release cheaper products, they would improve their market share dramatically.
