Thank you for illustrating my point so well.
" The New 13.3” MacBook with Intel GMA X3100 graphics is great for playing 3D games," :rotfl:
Great way to sell it!0 -
But seriously from a neutral's perspective, what can I do on a mac with OSX quicker and easier that I can do with a windows PC of the same price?
Granted I could probably get a virus quicker on windows0 -

The Mac comes with Garage Band, which is really great.
Otherwise it's pretty much of a muchness.0 -
Have now been a mac convert for 2 years,
Have a macbook pro and imac. since having these have NEVER had a single problem with the machine itself, just the wife operating it, but that has now been sorted.
Using the machine it just works all the programs are nicely integrated together. The look and feel are awesome you know you have a computer when using a mac.
yes apple build the machines and software to work, unlike my dad's brand new Acer laptop which wont even play DVD's on media player without errors popping up.
Yes there are down sides to a company that build the machine and OS but as of yet i can't seem to find any.0 -
Hello all,
though a new member on the forum, I've been getting the moneysaving newsletter for sometime.
I'm currently looking to buy a new laptop and this thread came up on my search as I'm trying to choose between a windows or macbook. I've spent ages reading customer reveiws on various sites and at the moment I'm leaning more towards the mac due to the seemingly better build, OS and overall ease of use and overall experience. The cost certainly is an issue but I also don't want false economy and get an unreliable machine.
Some of the posts have been great, I'll continue to do some research and check for offers - found a nice refurbished macbook pro on the apple site -

I must admit, I do find it funny that in a world dominated by windows and PC's, the majority of users according to this 'Moneysaving expert site' poll have a Mac. I presume most of them post in the 'Bankruptcy Forum' now too0

The point being is cost effectiveness and shelf life.
A few years ago i had a £500 packard bell windows laptop, It lasted all of 2 years before the screen started to die on me and that's after careful looking after.
Yes my macbook pro cost more but I expect and it will last a lot longer than that of a cheap laptop.
as for bankruptcy forum wel. I worked hard and saved hard to buy it which in the long run is better than forking out a few hundred quid every couple of years for cheap tat.
you know what they say "Buy Cheap Buy Twice"0 -

Money saving is not about spending as little as possible at any (non monetary) cost. It's about getting the things you want for the best price. If you want a Mac, and can afford one then have one.
Also for for somebody like me who uses the computer for a living an easy to use, stable, and reliable operating system allows me to be more productive in my work, thus allowing me to earn a lot more money that I'd have saved by buying a cheap Windows machine.0 -

That's true up to a point, but PCs of the same build quality as a Mac have not substantially dropped in price. If you want quality, you have to pay for it. As it is, the Mac Mini costs less than £400, and I'm yet to see a PC with the same build quality at that price. But seriously from a neutral's perspective, what can I do on a mac with OSX quicker and easier that I can do with a windows PC of the same price?
Make a podcast? Record a song? Create a DVD slideshow? Edit a movie?
I already posted about how installing/uninstalling software is a lot easier. There are many many things which are.0
