Lots of posts from me today, sorry! :D

£1 for the ol' candle holder today! Not far off £100 for January! How I'll top it for February I don't know but I'll certainly go for it!

:T Well done to everyone who has managed to shift some more debt and cut up those nasty CC and SC! Keep going! :T

We should keep all our CC's and then all get together and have a mass shredding/burning ritual with a few beers!! :rotfl:

The storms seemed to have passed here to leave a lovely sunny day so far. Yesterday afternoon just turned and it was horrible! Lots of rain and yuck basically. Hope everyone's enjoying the weekend so far!
    xx

  • Can anyone help me with my decision? I have had two offers...0% til July on BT to barclaycard.....current balance about 1100 and a life of balance of 6.8 with halifax current balance 0 (i used overdraft facility to pay it off so overdraft currently at 1500)

I have just over 6k on virgin/mbna most of which is on 0% til april but i know they are !!!!!!s and it will shoot up to something nasty after april.

My credit limit on Halifax is £2700 and limit on Barclaycard is £7k.

This is what im thinking.....write halifax cheque for £2600 (to take account of 3% fee) to my current account to cash. This should clear the oiverdraft and barclaycard. Then transfer the whole of virgin to barclaycard........then when the 0% runs out look around for a better transfer deal.

Can anyone see a better way? My head is close to exploding!

    £1.18 to barclaycard.

Hey paybacktime, if you have the option(s) to shift that nasty Virgin CC then I'd certainly be looking for a BT - for sure! Speaking from personal experience they jacked mine up to something daft like 29% and then to what I'm paying now which is 34.9%! I'm just thowing what money I can at it now as the interest is just ridiculous and they won't lower it because "I'm not struggling to pay it"!
I think Martin's :money: recommended the life balance with Barclaycard I seem to remember from a session he did on GMTV. I've always liked Barclaycard as they tend to be pretty friendly and flexible too. At a low interest of 6%, seems like a good deal :j
Hope it helps a little but there are proper pros on here who'll be able to advise you loads! Good luck!

This is just my opinion and what I would try to do...........

As 0% rates are now few and far between and not always for that long
I would ask Barclaycard about a life of balance rate - usually comes in around 6.9% and haggle for the fee to not be charged. Transfer MBNA to this and once gone close the account or at least try to.........

In my experience they will offer you a great rate for some more time and no fees - sound grateful and transfer OD to here and then reduce the OD to an emergency amount at Halifax.

If they don't make any offers.....
I would not add to the Halfiax card to clear the OD as you will probably find the OD is cheaper than the LOB rate. I would concentrate on a reduction plan - £50 to £100 per month

Or if you think your rating is up to it - apply for an Egg card - 0% for 12 months or so

I hope this helps and as I said only my thoughts - the final decision must be yours.

    Gilly
