Thank you so much Morph3us and Edinburghlass for all the advice. My order for the BT line was made only 2 days ago (27th Apr). I have rung BT again to double check my number - it was correct. I'll just keep trying the O2 site till cop tomorrow and if am still not getting any joy there, I'll try to order the O2 broadband via Topcashback once my BT line is properly up and running (I have only ever used Quidco for cashbacks before, so it won't do me any harm to try something new for a change!).

In any case, as Edinburghlass says, the O2 offer sounds good enough even without the cashback - I guess I am being a bit too greedy :o.

I have a few questions..although they're not related to the offer itself mind you

    1. Anyone tried using a Pay & Go SIM that wasn't theirs and is registered to a different address, e.g. a sibling's? It looks like there'll be no problem with this but I just want to be sure.
    2. Do o2 send you paper or at least printable original-looking PDF receipts? I can claim my broadband costs back but it has to be a proper receipt, or at least one that'll pass for proper.
    3. Anyone here suffered bad traffic shaping from them?
    1. Yes people have done that
    2. Not sure
    3. No one gets shaped unless you are on access and then you run into the same issues as BT's own network :(

When I ordered my BT line they said it was just a provisional number and could change when the engineer connected the line - so if it changes you might have a problem if you order it now :(

Just noticed that the MSE weekly money tips newsletter (and the main Cheap Broadband page on this site) states that the O2 Premium Package 3-months-for-free broadband offer runs out on Thu 30 April.
Ends Thur. Superfast 20 Mbps broadband for £5.17/mth after cashback or £1.50/mth for O2 customers
A number of red-hot broadband deals end this week (though exact package & speed can depend on where you live, so check first). Cheapest broadband: Plusnet* at £5.99's the cheapest standard deal, it has a big 10Gb download limit. Yet while Plusnet's fast at up to 8Mbps, until midnight Thur 30 April the O2 premium package* at up to 20Mbps gives the first 3 mths free, so over the year's contract it's an avg. £11/mth (£7.30 for existing mobile customers). (from Martin's Money Tips of today)
However I have checked the O2 website and that clearly states that the offer runs out on 31 May.
Discount offer: Subject to availability. Free offering is for O2 Home Broadband Premium and Pro packages only. The first three months will be free after which you will charged the standard rate for your services. Offer not to be used in conjunction with any other promotion. O2 Home Broadband Standard package and a range of other broadband products are available separately from £7.34/month. Offer ends 31st May 2009. Customers must join O2 Home Broadband by 31st May 2009. All standard charges (including any termination or cancellation fees) apply. See www.o2.co.uk for full terms and details. (from the O2 website)

So I am ignoring the MSE newsletter. If I have misunderstood anything, someone let me know!

The newsletter is half correct. The £5.17 deal does end tomorrow. See post #222

The o2 3 months free offer does continue into next month.

Until quidco post the May 1 cashback, no-one knows what the net deal will be after tomorrow.

EDIT 1/5/09: After all this, good news from Quidco - the £70 cashback has been extended into May. No closing date stated as yet.

I've had an email from O2 to tell me that my special offer discount (ie first month free) is about to end and my monthly charge will be £12.23.
My PAYG mobile is linked to my broadband account so I should be paying £7.34 per month, as they haven't texted/emailed me to tell me that I need to topup to qualify for the discount (which they say they will do).
I've tried texting "topup" to 61202 to find out the date of last topup, but this doesn't appear to work anymore (as has been reported on the O2 and thinkbroadband forums).
Can someone confirm please, when you received your email saying your free 1st month was coming to an end, did it state your charge would be £12.23 or £7.34? I'm thinking that perhaps the discount only kicks in when your new billing periods starts, but the problem is if you DO need to topup, you have to do it 3 days before your billing period starts in order to qualify.

My email quoted the same "normal" (pre discount) rate, even though my contract phone was already registered with them. The new bill is for the correct £7.34.

Hi guys, I have already purchased my O2 broadband without being an O2 customer.... is there any way I can now get a pay as you go sim and then let them know so I get the O2 customers rates?

I.e. can I log into my account and do it that way or do I have to call them or am I stuck as I am at the moment.

You can do it. Ringing them works.

I think the site used to say 30 April before
