Hi Guys,
Not sure if this is the correct section to post...so please feel free to move me if necessary! I am going to treat myself to an Audi TT(second hand) in the new year but thought I would ask you knowledgeable lot for some advce before I make the big purchase!:j
I am looking for any advice on do's and dont's, common pitfalls plus general advice from TT owners re insurance costs, tax group, servicing costs/parts and economy. I am a 26 year old female and want to make my purchase armed with as much information as possible...
Thanks,
Tiggermadvic

If you're worried about the running costs, you shouldn't get one in the first place. They're not exactly cheap to run.0 -
thay do have a problem with the display console packing up and these are expensive0

Why do you want one? I'm just curious. We all are fond of various types of cars and you will probably get a lot of negative advice re this vehicle. As Conor said, they are not cheap to run at all and you will have big bills even from independent garages.
If we knew why you wanted one, then may be we could help you - in the sense get you to chose something more practical but still good to look at!Genie

We stopped buying them cos you'd spend the next few months putting the thing right and eating into your margin.0

oh go for it, that is my ultimate dream car - when I get the money from the sale of my house I'm tempted to go and buy one for a few months..... just as a frivilous middle aged thing to do!
A word of warning though, ex used to have a BMW Z4 (not soft top) and I got hassled to hell any time I drove it, I'm small and blonde and sitting at traffic lights I've literally had guys getting out and tapping at the window........ not sure whether a TT would draw the same attention!
And get a white one - there's one in my town that's white and it is so gorgeous!0 -
A friend of mine has a 3.2 Quattro.
Just spent £450 on new front brake discs and pads - Seems far too much to me but he does use Audi main dealers.
He recently replaced all four tyres (again from Audi main stealers). I'm sure he paid in the region of £1,300 but it may have included a Service.
His 3.2 litre engine is a fantastic drive but it mainly drives from Esso to Shell to BP to Shell etc. (a thirsty lump!!)
He hasn't had any mechanical problems with it (it costs plenty just for the consumables as mentioned above) and regularly drives between Aberdeen and his second house in the South of Spain.0 -
If I had money to throw around, I would choose something a lot more classy....!!
Besides, it would seem that the BMW has been taken over by the Audi now - in respect of drivers owning the road.Anyone else noticed that?
