Easily learnable. Well, I think the 'whole system' is quite complex and takes quite some time to learn, but you've got to start somewhere. Really, don't be worried. Nobody expects you to know everything overnight and your fellow staff will help you whenever you need it.
The training courses I mentioned above are part of the induction package and typically take 2 or 3 days each. The e-learning packages take an hour or two, depending on what they are.
I know where you're coming from. I had weird, unsettling anxiety dreams before I started. Now, I wonder why. But it's human nature to be anxious about new stuff. Just remember, you've already been through a rigorous selection process, so they clearly think you're made of the right stuff.
Now, think positive!!
Awwww thank you for the helpI hope i'm okay and am as good as you!!! As long as i get my nerves under check i should be okay!!
Gotta think positive!!!!!! :A"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

Lol, I am still stumbling around in the dark. I am only human. But I pick up new stuff every day, and so will you.:idea:0 -
glad to help. let me know how you get on x
I tried phoning disclosure Scotland but gave up. I also emailed and have just received a reply that they have received the application but needed me to confirm my driving licence number. I have replied and now await them.
Thanks for all your help.
I have read many of your messages on here and also venus's. I would say that neither of you have anything to fear about your new jobs. You both appear extremely capable and I am sure that you will do very well. I hope you both keep us posted and look forwards to hearing of your triumphs.

Hi all
I just came across this forum today and I am so glad it is not just me that is so frustrated !
I had my interview for an EO role based in Milton Keynes ( south east) on 13th July.
No letter received yet but I got my Discloure sent back to me about 3 weeks ago from DWP. No covering letter either. I also know that they have taken up at least one reference.
I am unable to contact them by phone , just rings or is taken off the hook.
I had another interview today and if I am offered the job I will have to take it. I have been unemployed for 6 months now.
What an awful service we have all received. Good Luck all x0 -

Hi Sunshine lover (great name!)
I was also at the interviews in MK on 13th July (IRC 60778). I received a 'successful later' - (oops, should say letter but thought I'd leave it in considering the topic!) a week or so ago, dated 17th July! and only because I chased some outstanding applications. Then about a week ago I received the CRB - problem is I've had two different successful letters for different IRCs , both EO roles, both MK/Bletchley so I'm not sure which it relates to.
Fortunately I have been offered another role (not DWP) and am waiting for pre-recruitment checks so have decided not to hold my breath for 'the call'.
Hope you get some good news soon0 -
venus_in_furs wrote: »Nope...the man i spoke to was actually very abrupt and rude. He did not confirm anything except that i still wanted the job, the location i would be working and where the training is and for how long. I tried to ask more, but he just brushed me off saying 'You will be getting the details in the post.' Rude sod!!! Maybe its just the person i happened to get? Was everyone else's so rude to them?
I haven't received the details yet..hopefully tomorrow as i like to have a few days to take everything in and prepare myself. May need to go to the place where i am training first as i don't know any bus routes yet! Probably end up arriving 3 hours late and at the wrong place! Eeek!
Mine was quite a nice guy actually - asked if I was working at the mo and if I had to give any notice etc - he was quite funny he said "so if I had a training start date of the 19th of October, how would that suit you" I obviously said GREAT and he made it jokingly "well funnily enough I have training starting on 19th October". He was a nice guy. Again he didn't tell me anything about holidays etc but I'm sure all of that will be in the confirmation letter we receive in the post.
fingers crossed for everyone still waiting :T0 -
The Kremlin's not that bad, though the hideous carpet that apparently cost about £10k per square inch is vile and looks like someone's vomited.
Was also a very good place to go 'missing' inTell someone you were doing loads of filing and then leg it to the bus station and go home. Not that I did that or would advocate such behaviour in any way whatsoever, obviously.
LOL, oh that horrid carpet - I can't believe its still there! So are you still there then? I am not sorry to see the back of it personally! And I never had the privilige of getting lost, after all I was 'supposed' to know the building inside out and risk assess it! Ermmm, although I was able to work from any site so in those instances i'd simply head to the JC near where I lived at like 11am, then leave there at 1pm and erm, call it a day!
Assuming I advocated such behaviour, of course2010 - year of the troll

Has anyone else applied to Halifax or know anyone who has been posted there?
My wife and I both applied to Halifax and got our letters. We have both had our CRB checks back and our referees have been contacted (a couple of weeks ago). However, we have heard nothing since.
I should add that I play cricket with someone that works in the Halifax office and he has told me (about 10 days ago) that they have not had any new starters yet.0 -
