    Hiya

Flexi depends on the business Unit but front line PA's (EO) and Back Office admin (AO) both work with flexitime and you can ask when you start about swapping or using family friendly hours......

As I say, i'm slightly out of touch but used to be reasonably high graded so know the basic of recruitment and the managers (usually HEO) parameters.....

Just bear in mind, if you applied for PT they can make it happen, even if it means swapping things around to make 2 x PT = 1 x FT position.....

Thanks for this. How would you recommend I should go about enquring further about PT. Would it be acceptable to call the actual JCP I will be working at prior to my employment or wait until the training course. Do each JCP have a personnell/HR dept in your experience?

    Many Thanks!

No, HR is centralised but each JC+ does have their own recruitment. Say in Leeds, there is several offices (used to be 24 when I was there but they've since closed a couple down) and within that, you may get based at say Beeston (Hunslet/South Leeds) JC+ who only need FT staff, but the One at GGS or Seacroft JC+ (East Leeds) may need a couple of part timers, so they will move you around.

You're best to await until you start then mention it to the trainers and specifically say that you went for a PT role and FT is not an option right now. Obviously, if you're at Quarry House then they have an on-site cresche which all civil servants can use (its handy as before/after school club)...... You pay but it is cheap and regulated plus on site!

Edit - remember there are also the providers, they always want ex JC+ staff (such as A4E/Shaw Trust etc etc)

Hmmmm. It says a fixed term contract but not for how long. Doesn't mention anything about the possibility of getting taken on permanently? Does that mean i could be there a few months and then get kicked out?

Did you pply for fixed term/temp/mat leave cover etc? If not then it should have an expiry date on it. What is your job, an EO or back office (AO)?

p.s. you gotta be real daft or stupid to get the boot from DWP - i.e. usually internal fraud or sickness is what gets people the boot! Lots of internal jobs once you get your feet through the door - don't worry!

I will be an AO. The ad i applied for said fixed term with possibility of being permanent. Does not mention that in the letter. No end date...just mentions the usual, probationary period of 6 months. Doesn't tell me much to be honest. Just where i will be training.

Someone else i know who applied for AO and will be working at the same place has started their training a bit before me, but before they started training they went and got assigned different types of jobs. Like fortnightly reviewer, greeter etc. I don't seem to have to do that? It just says AO? Why is it all so bl00dy confusing?!
