Hey just a quick question. To your knowledge has everyones references been contacted/required? I asked why mine hadnt been a few weeks ago and was told that because all of my other checks came back fine they no longer required references....i found this a bit odd but just thought "oh well one less thing to wait to come back"....now im not so sure lol (cos i havent heard anyone else mention this!)0

The Kremlin's not that bad, though the hideous carpet that apparently cost about £10k per square inch is vile and looks like someone's vomited.never-in-doubt wrote: »I was based in the Kremlin (Quarry House) Leeds, it was a nightmare in there - looked like the kremlin as well as felt like it!
Was also a very good place to go 'missing' in
Tell someone you were doing loads of filing and then leg it to the bus station and go home. Not that I did that or would advocate such behaviour in any way whatsoever, obviously. 0 -

I phoned and asked if my references needed to be contacted and I was also told no as my employment history checked out with HMRC.0 -

I am so pleased for the recent the recent posts of success in start dates! Gives us hope. I applied to Halifax, received letter to say successful dated 14th August, disclosure back fine etc. I have heard from a friend that they think the headcount has been done now. So am praying they start posting soon. I have spoke to so many people now in different departments stating different things, the thing I like others find most wrong is how a simple piece of communication could have alleviated some of the stress and worry, and I say some. I have three weeks left in my present job and just don't know what to do , as like everyone else I really want this one! Has anyone else applied to Halifax or know anyone who has been posted there?0

:jthis is me currently jumping around like an idiot as I just received "the call"
I'd love a beer to celebrate - but they don't mix with the pain killer the hospital gave me
CONGRATULATIONS:beer::beer::T:T
Seeing as you can't have a drink to celebrate, I will have one for you
Well done

Ok training..
First there is a couple of days 'induction', where they tell you all kinds of useful stuff such as security, working times..er...gosh I can hardly remember, but it's not really interactive. Tis useful though.
Then there is 'keeping safe', which teaches you diffusion techniques and emergency practises. There is some role play here but on my course it was done in small groups of 3 or 4.
Then there is 'core customer skills' which focuses on stuff like diversity, respect etc. Again some little role play, but done in small groups.
The trainers are for the most part very good and all experienced DWP officers so they can answer additional questions.
After that comes e-learning such as security, benefits, LMS and the other software packages. You will also shadow experienced officers in your local office until you are ready to go it alone.
NOBODY is expected to hit the ground running. So for anyone who is nervous about starting, don't be!!:idea:0 -
Thanks lili....is any of it really complex to get your head around or is it all quite easily learnable?
What are the times the training starts ends? Is it long?"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0 -

Easily learnable. Well, I think the 'whole system' is quite complex and takes quite some time to learn, but you've got to start somewhere. Really, don't be worried. Nobody expects you to know everything overnight and your fellow staff will help you whenever you need it.
The training courses I mentioned above are part of the induction package and typically take 2 or 3 days each. The e-learning packages take an hour or two, depending on what they are.
I know where you're coming from. I had weird, unsettling anxiety dreams before I started. Now, I wonder why. But it's human nature to be anxious about new stuff. Just remember, you've already been through a rigorous selection process, so they clearly think you're made of the right stuff.
Now, think positive!! :beer::idea:0
