I've just had a phone call from a lady in Dunfermline confirming that there is a freeze on the EO post I applied for back in June.
I had the tests / interview in July and success letter 3 days later confirming 12 month waiting list although I've also been told I'm on the Merit list.
I had a phone call about 5 weeks ago asking me my preference of job centre from 5 (2 in Dundee, Forfar, Arbroath and Montrose) and I should get a call within 2 weeks with a start date.
First contact since then was today confirming what was said about there being a review of the recruitment and it's unlikely anyone will be getting placed before the end of October when the situation will be looked at again. She also added there is no guarantees that there will be postings after that date and advised me to look elsewhere if I wanted a job.
She was lovely and I really felt sorry for her having to be the bearer of bad news but I'm sure she had a few calls to make, but was going it to keep everyone on her lists updated.
This might also affect heathertheblether and mandie2106 as I notice they are round the same area as me.
Still got my fingers crossed though and at least I'm not going out worried about missing the call and up to now I do still have a job, albeit part time so I am greatful for that.
Fingers crossed for everyone that we do still get jobs out of this in the future.0 -
Wahooooooooooooooo at least some people are getting posted...congrats deejay22 and bethel00!!!!!!!!!"You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0

Don't want to step on the positivity, but deejay's case is more likely to do with them correcting the clerical error that meant he wasn't placed when he should have been.
They may have already allocated him prior to the freeze.
Yes, this is probably true, because in my case the clerical error meant people lower down the merit list were posted before me, and I think as a result of me chasing this up with the complaints dept and speaking to the head of customer services etc, I have come to their attention as I should have been posted earlier!

I got my CRB checks back last week of july, sent to the DWP first week august and was told at that point i would recieve a start date within 2 weeks....when i didnt hear back i called them up (2 weeks ago) to be told the business should have contacted me by now, and they would chase it up, again heard nothing. From what ive been told so far i should have had my start date ages ago. The DWP seem to just like to make a big mess of things. Ive put in a complaint tho, and the person dealing with my IRC said he'd chase it up so we'll see. Either way being 32nd on the merit list isnt that bad and even waiting til the end of October (for me personally) isnt a huge issue.
I see your point tho, theyve probably messed up somewhere and he probably was allocated b4 the freeze, and them chasing it up today brought that to attention.
Too right! a lot of you probably are in the same position, thats why its important to call at least once a week for an update. Once I received my CRB certificate (with a DWP comp slip attached to it), I thought i'd leave them to it, as they are busy etc....and play the waiting game. However, when I chased it up 2 weeks later, I found that they hadn't marked it down as received so I would've been waiting forever for a start date, as it appears that no one seems to chase up missing or delayed crb checks!! :mad:0 -
I was under the impression the test scores don't count in the final decision !! They are purely used to see who goes onto the next stage ie the interview. It's how you score at interview that determines where your placed on any list.
I also asked about this and received an e-mail explaining how the process works.
Your test scores are only to determine who is successful in getting through to the interview stage. These tests are Sift Tests and if you pass this test u will then be invited for the interview, they do not count towards the merit list or waiting list in any way.
With regards to the interview this is what Loiuse Perry, Customer Services Manager has told me:
In order to be deemed successful a candidate must meet the minimum required standard, scoring at least 4 in each of the competencies for a combined score of 20.
She then told me what I had scored, the higher you score in the interview the higher up the list u will be.
If there are say 30 positions to be filled then the top 30 people from the list will then be put through the checking stage, CRB, employment checks etc. If all yr checks come back o.k then those 30 people are then put onto a Merit list and passed onto the business to await the call.
Anyone falling below position 30 on the list is then put onto a Waiting List for if and when the business requires more people, this could be if someone who recieves the call turns the job down or if they don't like the job and leave etc.
Pre appointment checks, including CRB checks do not commence until Resourcing recieves confirmation from Jobcentre Plus that more people are needed.
AND
Unfortunately the letters issued by Resourcing saying that u were successfull and are on a waiting list (6 or 12 months) do not actually guarantee an offer of employment.
I hope this helps guys.0 -

At the moment she has a temporary role working at Wakefield Council. There is 6 weeks left on the contract but they want to take her on full time. However, as she has the DWP job starting on 19 October she doesn't want to take it. We know the DWP is an 18 month contract but it will save her about £100 per month in travel costs and about 1.5 hours per day in time.
However, she cannot/will not let the council know she is leaving until she has something in writing from DWP regarding a start date. So far we have only had phone calls. Nothing has arrived in the post to confirm dates, locations, times etc.
She is now worried that the start date will not be honoured because of the freeze and we have no comeback as we have no paperwork.
So, has anybody else got any thoughts on this?I only had a phone call.
I asked yesterday when I got the call if I would receive something in writing, she said they dont send out start date confirmation letters, and I would receive my contract once I start. So I asked her to email me all the details to confirm my start date, which she has done, confirming who I need to report to, and what I need to take with me on my first day, etc.0
