Don't want to step on the positivity, but deejay's case is more likely to do with them correcting the clerical error that meant he wasn't placed when he should have been.

They may have already allocated him prior to the freeze.

Yep thats a fair point, in which case a lot of us should be in the same position. I got my CRB checks back last week of july, sent to the DWP first week august and was told at that point i would recieve a start date within 2 weeks....when i didnt hear back i called them up (2 weeks ago) to be told the business should have contacted me by now, and they would chase it up, again heard nothing. From what ive been told so far i should have had my start date ages ago. The DWP seem to just like to make a big mess of things. Ive put in a complaint tho, and the person dealing with my IRC said he'd chase it up so we'll see. Either way being 32nd on the merit list isnt that bad and even waiting til the end of October (for me personally) isnt a huge issue.

I see your point tho, theyve probably messed up somewhere and he probably was allocated b4 the freeze, and them chasing it up today brought that to attention.
  • This is making me feel a bit more positive than I was a day or two ago. Thanks all - your comments and news are making the wait a little more bearable! Got my disclosure scotland back today from DWP with compliment slip. Hope this is a positive sign.

  • Have you read the last 5 pages of this thread? If not, you should and quickly.

Yes, but there seems to be a rather large confusion over which areas have been frozen??! No need to be sarcastic mate...

Hey i also applied in Fife. Had tests and interview in May and success letter in June (AO position), got my CRB checks back in August and nothing yet. I was told 2 weeks ago to expect the call very soon as i was high up on the merit list and all my checks were completed but nothing yet. And from the news ive just read i doubt i will get anywhere soon. I tried to call the guy dealing with my IRC but no answer so he cant be in the office today. Im gonna keep trying tho, im sick of us all getting the run around....

Tell me about it. It wasn't a guy called Bill, Tel 01383 813 958?
It's a woman who answer's now...in fact, she said he was on holiday... he's bound to be back now. Might chance my luck with a phone call tomorrow and see if they can give me more info about this freeze-out.

Hey, ok so i got thru to someone this morning. I firstly asked where i was on the merit list and how the freeze on recruitment would affect me. She said that i was 32nd on the list, and in regards to the freeze, not to worry. She said its not going to take long to process the information they need to, and they will start posting again in the next few weeks and that the order of the merit list will stay the same...so altho it might take a few weeks longer our jobs will still be granted. She also told me that 78 people have been posted in my area in the last 2 weeks so not to be disheartened because it will happen, and she said the likelihood is that it will defo be b4 xmas. She also said that the reason we have not been informed of this "freeze" is because its not going to directly affect us people on a merit list other than having a few weeks of a longer wait, and that it really is not as bad as it has been made to sound. Basically they done a mass recruitment and got a much bigger response than they expected to so they have been left with masses of people who have been successful. Until they can compose the lists and find out exactly how much people they need in certain areas they want to freeze the process to make it easier to handle but regardless of this there ARE still jobs to fill. She seemed to be very sure of what she was saying so im not panicking at the minute. I think if your on the merit list your ok, but if your on a 12 month waiting list...well im not sure. I think most of us are on merit lists tho eh?

AAGGHH Dont know if i'm glad i found this site or not!!! I got my successful letter 15/09/09 on waiting list!! whats the difference with merit list and waiting list mandie? either way it dont look good does it? has anyone been placed when they are on the waiting list, please reply naffed off thought I had a job but reading these messages looks like i've not a cat in hells chance

As I understand it, you get on the waiting list if you haven't done well enough to make the merit list. By the looks of things it's going to be a struggle getting the job you've been promised even if you're on the merit list, so it doesn't really look good for those on the waiting lists.
  • Does anyone know anything regarding IRC61462 held in Bridgend Rugby Club by Manpower. I have had my literacy/numeracy tests passed those, interview the following day, got a a successful letter with NO waiting list and about three weeks ago received my CRB check from the DWP then nothing.

    What is going on?

I wasn't being sarcastic - your post gave no indication that you had read through the thread and I was trying to help you out. I have been keeping up to date with this thread for several months and when somebody new comes on they often don't take the time to read it before asking questions or posting comments.

I've already been posted so I don't need to come in here every day but I like the banter and I like to be able to give some assistance where it is required.

I only had a phone call.

So, you just had to turn up on the first day on the strength of that phone call. Did you even get a contract when you started? It's over 20 years since I first got a Civil Service job and it seems to me that things have regressed though it could just be the DWP rather than the Civil Service as a whole.

By the way, when did you start and are you enjoying it?
