    OH......MY.......GOD!!!!!!!

I've only gone and got THE CALL!!!!! I was out shopping when I received a withheld number on my mobile, (was prepared with pen and paper even though I was told it was unlikely i'd hear anything within 2 weeks)

Start date - 2nd Nov, perfect for me, as it gives me plenty of time to get my 15 month old into nursery etc.... and the Job Centre is local to me. I'm over the moon :j

One piece of advice i'd give to you all, persistence pays, the countless phone calls, emails to managers etc... sometimes it works to kick up a bit of a stink (in a polite way of course) and if something doesn't feel right, get on their case... as my earlier post today explains how they can easily make mistakes by not ticking off the checks as complete when they receive them!

I'm actually in shock, as this time yesterday I was convinced I had been forgotten about! Last night I had a bottle of wine to get over the stress of being ignored all day, and now I might have to have one to celebrate!

Good luck to you all and I hope that you all receive your calls VERY soon.

I asked about this earlier today and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about... and then later on I received my start date so I doubt it????
Oh, Well done. congrats. There is now hope:D Good luck and remember to tell us all about it.;)

Hi IRC61351, are you in same position?

It's probably a freeze on actually placing anyone, rather than a complete freeze on processing existing applications.

Think about it ... it makes sense to continue processing people so that as soon as the freeze is lifted those people can be placed ASAP.

I think this must be true. I waited months to be placed (see earlier in this epic thread) and have now been in the job just under 2 months. I've realised that they do desperately need more staff, but the mandatory training and the necessary space to house new staff are what's holding things back. There's a bit of a log-jam in both. They are working on this, eg considering longer opening hours (which is why all new staff are contratced to work 8-8 weekdays and 9-1 Saturdays).(I don't mean you'll work all those hours btw).

My sympathies to all of you in the position I was in for so long. Waiting, waiting, WAITING. This latest news must be very frustrating. I don't know for sure what's going on but I suspect most of you already in 'the system' will be placed eventually. Also fwiw, AO, EO and HEO vacancies in London have been advertised in the last week.

  • Unfortunately the EO closed before we found out about the freeze. I didn't apply as I already have an EO success letter for much closer to home.

Will be applying for HEO in London, however I'll be well past my 6 months unemployed by the time they are placing.
  • I dont know about anyone else but i think the fact that Deejay got "the call" with a start date today (WELL DONE!!) has made me a bit more optimistic. I think we all heard the news about the freeze and literally panicked, but hopefully it wont affect any of us in a hugely bad way, other than having to wait that little bit longer!
  • Same here! It'll be nice if we still keep seeing posts on here with people saying that they received "the call" even if its only 1 person a day - atleast we no then that there is still movement.
  • Thats it eh! Even if its not a fast process, we know that it is still happening for people who are in the same position as us. Im sure yesterday Deejay panicked the same as us, and here today, got great news. In time we'll all be posting happy news, :D
  • Don't want to step on the positivity, but deejay's case is more likely to do with them correcting the clerical error that meant he wasn't placed when he should have been.

They may have already allocated him prior to the freeze.
