The way im thinking....if and when i do hear from the DWP if i have a new job by then i can always leave and take the position with DWP. But this waiting game doesnt help the finances much, and with xmas round the corner....
am just worried about the hassle of coming off jsa for a few weeks and then having to start all over again.
get a little bit of housing benefit as well so would have to go through all that again.
really dont know what to do at moment.

Yeah i kind of worried about that too. The transition wont be an easy one whenever its done i guess.
  • Same as me! Apart from the reference bit. I am desperately waiting for a start date - I have another job offer which I am meant to take up next week but I really want to work for the DWP.

I turned down another job for twice the money as I too want to work for DWP. That was over 2 months ago. Do yourself a favour and take the other job. You can always hand in your notice and still take the DWP one if and when it comes.
I really wish that I'd practised what I'm preaching!
  • I am in a similar position (as far as my personal life goes) as a few of you. I am a single parent 2 children, 11 and 14. I was only interviewed on Friday but felt that interview went very well and was kind of hoping for a job offer, but with all this talk of recruitment freeze, I now don't know what to think.

I have today applied for some Christmas jobs and already have an interview tomorrow for Marks and Spencer, just part-time, hopefully to have some extra money for presents etc....

Good luck everyone and I hope things go the way you wish...Jx
  • Hi,

I just found this forum..interesting indeed!

I applied for EO IRC62477 and received a letter saying ,

"I am pleased to inform you that you have passed the first phase of our recruitment process, however due to the high number of successful applicants we are only able to progress applicants who are a closer match to our requirements and therefore we are not able to progress your application to the next stage at this time"

The question I have is what are these requirements?? Does anyone know? There was no mention of specific requirements in the job specification. Furthermore I have already passed the numerical and literacy tests for a previous EO position and had an interview albeit unsuccesful.

Now it seems I am on a 6 month waiting list to progress to the next stage which i have already passed?!
  • Is that Hecky, Scholes etc?

Yep, it sure is! do you know the area well?

Hi Deejay, congrats, do you mind me asking when and where you had your assessment? Just I've rang regional recruitment today and been told I have been placed on the merit list? but no decisions to be made because of the "pause" Seriously worried and tearful! I am i West Yorkshire too. x

    Thank you!

I did the assessment online, and had my interview at the Raddison SAS hotel in Leeds on the 6th July - IRC60540 (EO)

Did you ask what position you are on the merit list, and how many jobs are available?

When did you have your interview?

Try not to be tearful hun, I felt like that on Monday, and after a 'little' chasing up, I got the call!
  • I think I am right in saying that after your interview they add up your marks for your literacy and numeracy tests with the mark you were given for your interview. Based on these marks you are either placed on a merit list or a waiting list. Those on a merit list are the 1st to be appointed.

I was under the impression the test scores don't count in the final decision !! They are purely used to see who goes onto the next stage ie the interview. It's how you score at interview that determines where your placed on any list.
  • Had a call from DWp today with a start date of 26/10/2009. The closing date for this was 30/04/2009 with the interview in June.
