Just depends if they were able to verify your ID from the online form. If not they ask you to take ID to branch to finalise the opening of the account. It doesn't make any difference to your eligibility for the £100 offer.0 -
Well, I'd almost given up hope even though me and oh both got emails detailing a 10 day wait for a reply. My wife received the letter requiring a specimen siggy today so looks as though she's £100 better off. I'm still waiting for mine though.0

I applied days before the cut off. Was sent a letter dated 17th Jan asking me to take ID into branch, but the letter did not say if I had been accepted or not for the account. My letter said they needed to see my ID to prevent money laundering. The branch took photocopies of my ID and said they would send them off.
Took ID into branch on 22nd Jan, received the 10 day wait email on 24th Jan and not heard anything since. It is now 3 weeks since I applied.
As it is now 10 days since the email, is anyone else still waiting to hear?0 -
I am still waiting and have received the emails re 10 days but have still to receive anything in the post. :mad:Andyboy :idea:0

Anyways, the nearest Barclays is 35 miles away. I called the 0500 help number to ask if I could go instead to Woolwich with ID (part of the same group) but lady said no - either post in the ID or travel to Glasgow. I don't fancy mailing my passport so I'll go into the city later this month when I get a day off work.
On the plus side, she told me that I'd qualify for the £100 since I had made the application before the 19thJan.
Should I make an appointment at the branch or do they attend to you quickly if you just turn up? Also, I assume that I'll can transfer the money on the internet once the A/C is open - I shouldn't need to travel the 35 miles to and from the branch each time? Any kind soul know?
I would make an apppointment to save waiting around unneccessarilyI haven't got one!0 -

Just an update on how my applic is going.
Both myself and my OH applied on the day we got Martins email. We both got '10 day' emails afterwards, but my OH then got her welcome letter very soon afterwards and her online account is up and running. :j I have yet to get any post from Barclays, but am waiting as the nice man on the 0500 number said to do.
Just a query of everyone here, the first £1000 deposit was credited to my OH's account on 31st Janaury. When, according to the T&C (which I have read many times) should she re-credit the account with the 2nd £1000? What is Barclays interpretation of a month?
Many thanks.....0 -
redagila wrote:Will be interested to see how Barclays deals with dazzatheman depositing two separate £1K within a few days - will they consider this "per month for the first 2 months"? Should do as it is a "straightforward current account" but I would have thought might be more sensible to deposit the money about 4 weeks apart.
I'm sure I read in earlier posts that the first month starts from the day you open the account and then after 30 days it would then be deemed the 2nd month. I'm not certain though so I have emailed Barclarys today to query.
Has anyone yet not credited their account with the £1000 in one go - i.e. £500 and then taken it out and recredited?Quidco ~ £3,718 | Greasypalm ~ £354 | Freefivers ~ £45 | Pigsback ~ £260 shopping vouchers + 15 CDs
Total cashback / freebies / money-saving: 2006 ~ £3,961 | 2007 ~ 3,610 | 2008 ~ £4,159 | 2009 ~ £1,449

I filled in the on line application as soon as I got the e mail from Martin. On the 24th January I got an e mail from Barclays saying that due to the amount of interest in the account it would be a few days before they informed me if I'd been accepted. I've since had the form in the pre paid enevelope requiring my specimen signature and received membership numbers etc so it seems as if I've been eligible. I've also been sent a cheque book which contained paying in slips so I'll be off down to my local branch to deposit the first 1K. I tried to pay in on line but there wasn't the facility. One thing bothers me is that there have been mutterings on this forum about getting a bad credit rating through opening accounts like this just for the cash .0
