According to the customer service rep I spoke to, any applications sumitted before 12.30 on 19th January would be eligible for the free £100. Anything after this date wouldn't be.
She said that two types of letters went out:-
1) A letter asking for a specimen signature to be filled in and returned to the direct banking centre (the lucky ones who'd been accepted)
OR
2) Applicants asked to take their form with ID to their local branch (the ones who'd been either unsuccesful or applied after the deadline).
It's only the Direct Banking accounts that are eligible for the offer.
I hope that helps.
in my opinion you have been told utter rubbish!
if you applied online and they open an a/c for you;-
1) you cannot have been too late, if you were the online application showing £100 would not have been there.
2)you can't be successful in opening the a/c and unsuccessful for the money!
of course you must comply with £1000 deposit terms, everyone should follow through their applications, and if need be make a complaint if you are told verbally that will not get £100Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0 -
We'll have to wait and see if they deliver the £100 to all the applicants.
I think it's a bit strange that some people were told to go to a branch and some were able to open a direct banking account. Why would this be the case?
One other notable thing was that my letter told me to return the signed aplication form in the "pre-paid envelope supplied" and there wasn't one. I noticed a few other people commented about this in this thread. Something tells me that this was done on purpose to lure people into their nearest branch where they'll suddenly no longer be eligible for the £100.0 -

there is something quite some pages back about searching for a cookie along the lines of www.(your name)barclays.
i don't know if this will stand up as 'evidence'. however, refer to my last post. Please note, we've had to remove your signature because it was sh*te!0 -

You see a "edit" button only in your own posts as no one else but you can edit your post (except for forum admin/moderators) - You only see "thanks" in other posts as you can't be permitted to thank yourself. I, and others, can see your Thanks button, but you can't.

Just found the cookie dated 18th Jan - thank you :jI haven't got one!0 -
Today I got the letter asking me to take ID into a local branch. I think that's because they have the wrong info. on the number of debit cards I hold.
Anyways, the nearest Barclays is 35 miles away. I called the 0500 help number to ask if I could go instead to Woolwich with ID (part of the same group) but lady said no - either post in the ID or travel to Glasgow. I don't fancy mailing my passport so I'll go into the city later this month when I get a day off work.
On the plus side, she told me that I'd qualify for the £100 since I had made the application before the 19thJan.
Should I make an appointment at the branch or do they attend to you quickly if you just turn up? Also, I assume that I'll can transfer the money on the internet once the A/C is open - I shouldn't need to travel the 35 miles to and from the branch each time? Any kind soul know?0 -

Yes, you can operate the account online once you've been sent the loging in info.0 -

This is what the 0500 people were initially saying but it is incorrect. It makes no difference if you have to take ID to branch to finalise the opening of the account, nor if the account has a branch sort code.
If you are offered to open an account as a result of filling in the online form you are eligible.0
