  • Thought i would try it at end of Jan followed by early Feb as technically it is 2 consecutive months from when the account was opened. At worst i will just have to pay it back in at the start of March but i dont think that should be necessary - who knows.

New to this site. Can someone tell me how I get "Thanks" - seem to only have "Edit".

You don't see a "thanks" button because you can't thank yourself in your own post. Only others can do that.

Dont know if i am one of the first to get my second payment in, but made it today, thats one at the end of Jan, and today was my Feb one.

28 days from now will tell what is to be.

Did have a funny email though, in that i asked for some confirmation from them that the £100 would be credited and they said 'sorry that offer is no longer in use'. I havent bothered following up as i believe it is a case of someone not reading my email correctly and misunderstanding what i was asking.

I will rely on the letter i have that thanks me for my application online dated 17/1/06.

Can you do that? or does it have to be every 31 days say?

I wouldn't have thought it would matter, but the £100 won't be credited until two months after the account was opened.

Just a question . OH was asked to take ID to branch which he did on 20th Jan, account was opened there and then and £1000 paid in.

He has just written a cheque from this new Barclays account and I looked at the sort code. As we used to bank with barclays I recognised it as the local branch sort code.

I am worried now that this will invalidate the £100 internet offer. Has anyone else had to go and show ID and then had the account opened in the branch with the branch local sort code.

There appear to be so many variations now of what people have had to do.

OH only applied because I asked him to, I did an application at the same time but I am still waiting.

I have just recieved a similar letter asking me to take proof into the branch where my account will then be opened.I phoned up and queried it saying it was an online account where my details where verified. She said ''I don't know why they are asking for proof then , oh is it a promotional account'' .I told her I was disabled and unable to get into a branch hence why I wanted an online account.Didn't she only go and arrange someone from branch to come out to me to open the account lol .
From the start of the phone call I acted like I didn't realise that you got the £100 for opening the account and nearly Everything she said sounds wrong to me as in because of this £100 there is so much messing around. In the end I SUDDENLY remembered that there was an offer of money for opening the account and accused Barclays of trying to get out of it when I had acted in accordance with there terms her answer was '' Barclays are not trying to get out of anything, they are honouring what they have promised as long as you applied for the account online before the 19th January''.

Wish I could stop editing EVERY post I make

I took my ID into the branch, and my sort code is the local branches. My welcome letter came from the local one too.
  • I spoke Barclays on the phone a few weeks ago regarding the £100 offer.

According to the customer service rep I spoke to, any applications sumitted before 12.30 on 19th January would be eligible for the free £100. Anything after this date wouldn't be.

She said that two types of letters went out:-

    1) A letter asking for a specimen signature to be filled in and returned to the direct banking centre (the lucky ones who'd been accepted)

    OR

    2) Applicants asked to take their form with ID to their local branch (the ones who'd been either unsuccesful or applied after the deadline).

It's only the Direct Banking accounts that are eligible for the offer.

    I hope that helps.

That is completely different to what I was told when I phoned. I got the 2) as above but have been told that I'm eligible for the £100
